ROUTE SUGGESTION: Main-Weser-Bahn – Frankfurt (Main) Hbf ↔ Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe Hello Dovetail Games and the Train Sim World community, I would like to suggest the Main-Weser-Bahn between Frankfurt (Main) Hbf and Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe as a future route for Train Sim World 7. The Main-Weser-Bahn is an important railway corridor connecting Frankfurt am Main with central and northern Hesse. The route passes through several major railway locations, including: • Frankfurt (Main) Hbf • Frankfurt (Main) West • Friedberg (Hessen) • Gießen • Marburg (Lahn) • Kirchhain • Stadtallendorf • Neustadt (Hessen) • Treysa • Wabern • Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe A modern TSW version of the route could offer a huge variety of railway operations. Why this route would be great for TSW The Main-Weser-Bahn combines regional and long-distance passenger traffic on the same corridor. DB currently reports ICE services operating along the Frankfurt–Gießen–Marburg–Kassel corridor, while regional services also connect Frankfurt, Gießen, Marburg, Treysa and Kassel. This would create a busy and varied timetable with different stopping patterns and types of service. The route would also have several interesting railway hubs, especially Frankfurt, Friedberg, Gießen, Marburg, Treysa and Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe. Possible services Depending on licensing and the chosen era, possible services could include: • ICE long-distance services • RE services between Frankfurt and Kassel • Regional services between Frankfurt, Gießen, Marburg and Treysa • Additional regional traffic around Friedberg and Kassel • Potential freight traffic The exact rolling stock should of course be determined by Dovetail and the relevant licensing agreements. ️ Suggested route My preferred version would be: Frankfurt (Main) Hbf → Frankfurt (Main) West → Friedberg (Hessen) → Gießen → Marburg (Lahn) → Kirchhain → Stadtallendorf → Neustadt (Hessen) → Treysa → Wabern → Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe A full Frankfurt–Kassel route would be ideal, but even a shorter section could be an excellent starting point. ⭐ Why I think players would enjoy it The route would bring a major missing part of the German railway network into Train Sim World. It would offer: • Long-distance ICE operations • Fast regional services • Local stopping services • Large railway stations • Rural Hessian scenery • Different types of railway infrastructure • Interesting junctions and operational challenges • Connections to other German routes The Main-Weser-Bahn is also an active railway corridor today, with ongoing infrastructure work and a mixture of regional and long-distance services. I believe this could make it a very interesting modern German TSW route. ❤️ Community request I would love to see Dovetail consider the Main-Weser-Bahn for a future Train Sim World release. If other players would also like to see this route, please support the suggestion and explain which part of the route or which trains you would most like to see. Thank you for reading and for continuing to develop Train Sim World! Main-Weser-Bahn for TSW!
Frankfurt to Kassel is a bit of a stretch at 91 miles but isn't impossible. I can see why you're suggesting as far as Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe since that's where the northern route coverage ended on Kassel to Wurzburg but the RE30 service from Frankfurt (M) for Kassel conitunes past Kassel-Wilhelmshöhe for a few more kilometers to Kassel hbf so hopefully, if this route came to the game and went all the way to Kassel, it would go to Kassel Hbf. Not too sure about that considering both Frankfurt and Kassel are featured in game already, Frankfurt on a commuter and a S-Bahn route and Kassel on an ageing high speed route. I don't mean this in a bad way but I can't see what you're suggestion offers that's new to the game, the mix of ICE, Regional and freight operations on electrified routes is a far too common occurence with German routes with too few exceptions, not to mention you haven't listed any motive power to be included with the route. This is your first post so have a read of this page which will give advice on what to include in your suggestions. Matt's Advice On Tsw Suggestions | Dovetail Games Forums For your first suggestion, this isn't bad by any means, but there is room for improvement
Indeed. Too many copy and paste style German routes in the game. We need something different, decent hilly or mountain scenery, non electrified, maybe even single track to rekindle the interest.
Thanks for the feedback! I understand that Frankfurt–Kassel is a long route, and I agree that the route would need to offer something unique. I think the Main-Weser-Bahn could be a great addition because it connects important cities like Frankfurt, Gießen, Marburg and Kassel, with a mix of urban, regional and rural scenery. It could also offer interesting regional and long-distance services. A shorter section, such as Frankfurt–Marburg or Gießen–Kassel, could also be a good alternative if the full route is too long. I appreciate the suggestions and hope the Main-Weser-Bahn will be considered for Train Sim World in the future!
