the first roadmap in over a month and a half is just around the corner, so what are people expecting and hoping to see, that includes updates on existing projects and new additions? personally, i think the richmond extension and carlisle-whitehaven will be the main updates, and possibly the first details about the romanian route. the amount of things announced in the dtd means there may not be much in the way of new content added, but that’s fine
NTP news King’s Cross with hopefully a mention of a certain loco new loco Addon (hopefully not another 158) some excuse for the lack of fixes/ blurry textures or being fixed
DTG patting themselves on the back for a "successful" launch of TSW7. A promise that they are working on known issues. An update on the Portuguese Route. More information about the Carlisle to Whitehaven route. Information about the class 70. Some information about the German and American routes. But nothing of substance.
Personally I just expect updates on stuff we already know about, I don't expect anything actually new
Very low expectations. I doubt we will see Carlisle to Whitehaven (which should have been Carlisle to Barrow) or the TSG steam route, this side of Q2 2027. Everything else will just be ticking the boxes to move it another month or three down the road. And I highly doubt we will hear of anything new, previously unrevealed being added to the Roadmap. A few low hanging fruit fixes but nothing to help those on consoles or lower spec PC’s. Certainly no buffs to the save game, be that more slots or the grail of being able to load a chained run properly.
Dovetail countdown to Christmas, Thomas the tank, Class 91 to boost morale, Our team are looking in to it and a fix is being looked at
Hopefully a release date for Richmond extension. Feels like that’s taking forever! I hope questions are asked from the community about why console players got such a rough deal this year and why blurry textures are worse than ever. DTG stated they needed to get this sorted within months as opposed to years but yet here we are years down the line.
Not forgetting, “Passed to engineering.” Hasn’t the author now gone back to doing stuff for Transport Fever 3? Sadly still only interested in this route if the 378 gets a decent sound set, or a Legends pack with the Class 501…
I hope we will hear about the Neckatalbahn and see some pictures about the expert railjet. I'm hoping that maybe we will get an update about the br 420
Hope we get something about the Richmond extension tomorrow on the roadmap hope dovetail mentions something
Predictions? Some superb up and coming content advertised, but all pointless at this stage for us Gen9 players with blurring continueing even worse then last year... Forgive the pessimistic attitude.
I would like to see updates on the below. - Fixes and/or further improvements to the live weather system - improvements to DLSS/DLAA and FSR with older routes showing grainy textures/artifacting on small displays, catenary wires and in-cab ADU's, especially during night runs - Reveal of next route for a remaster - news regarding the NJT Bergen line - Updates to the Richmond extension
I feel like the 91 would've been announced when the ECML was announced. It's an extremely popular loco and would've driven even more interest in the route for ATS. Unless someone has decided to work on it after TSW7 was announced.
if it is coming then it’ll be the highlight of the roadmap, so it probably wouldn’t have made sense for it to be announced in august in the backdrop of the main release
Lol, literally just snorted out loud at that, thank you for the Monday laugh My predictions? A bunch of self-congratulatory marketing headlines for how great and smooth and successful and flawless of a launch TSW7 has been and how the community has made TSW the best it's ever been and blah blah blah... Marketing spam for the Class 70 Small blurbs on some of the upcoming releases, maybe some expanded info on the stuff like Jersey Transit that only got hinted at during the Direct A recap of the patches received to date and reassurances of how hard they're working to make the game perfect for everyone Literally a single/sentence paragraph that blurred textures and performance issues are being continuously worked on by engineering, a la the George RR Martin "don't worry, it's coming" skit/meme from South Park While I would love some sort of sincere, personal apology (for clarification, as in non-AI or fluff from marketing, not to me personally) and acknowledgement of issues from DTG, past precedent has me believing that that will never happen. To quote Sir Alec Guinness, my impression of DTG as of late is that they are "more machine now than man."
DTG still has nothing new to tell. I can give a sort of answer if it helps. The train is at about 80% done. Still have two big timetables to finish, one scenario and the tutorial to create, lots of audio to do, and all the other logistic stuff like translations, QA, bug fixing after that, next round QA (and probably 10 more), and marketing blahblubb of course. No idea how long all that takes.
I'm just waiting for information on Mildmay and date if possible and more info for the Portuguese route and ECML King Cross
Very likely just a few screenshots of the upcoming content. I doubt anything brand new will be revealed.
The announcement that it'll be too much to do ECML King's Cross to Peterborough so they're doing King's Cross to Finsbury Park instead?
it would also be nice to see a timeframe for when we should expect the 90 to layer onto mac and/or the wcmls timetable to be significantly improved, i heard recently that the build for mac was submitted ages ago but still nothing official about that. if we get a fair bit of information on older content with actual substance then i'll consider it a successful roadmap
you're forgiven. despite the years of issues and lies i still fall into the trap of getting excited every time something flashy and interesting appears on the roadmap. thankfully nowadays the realisation sets in pretty quickly before i can get *too* excited
I wish they would stop releasing new TSW routes one after another—including ones that are already delayed. Prices have become quite high lately, and I really don't want them moving on to the next route before fixing the bugs in the current ones.
The solution is simple! Wean yourself off the game and don’t feel obliged to buy every single piece of content on Day One, if at all. There’s now quite a substantial list of DLC I haven’t bothered to get, compared to the TSW5 and earlier days when on PC I pretty much bought everything. The demise of physical Steam gift cards has helped as I curate my spending, no longer being able to slip the odd £20 on the account so that Mrs Vern can’t go into apoplexy over how much I spend on software. That aside, the general slide in quality and DTG’s indifference to long outstanding core issues (the various save game ones I keep going on about, for one) mean I no longer feel obliged to hand over money for everything on Day One like I used to. Even the potentially good 3P stuff coming out, Cumbrian (half) Coast, German steam route and Sheerness will be getting very close scrutiny to see if a full price purchase is warranted. I’ve probably spent more on OMSI 2 content (courtesy of openOMSI) in the last couple of weeks, than on TSW in the last several months. In fact, TSW is on the cusp of being uninstalled so I can do a curated reinstall of TSC and MSFS 2020.
How would they distract us from the bugs then though? Much easier to dangle keys in front of our face than actually fix the problems, plus if they're don't release more increasingly expensive DLC how will they hit their financial targets and keep their shareholders happy?
