I think the 47, 08 and 20 will be included. Plus any AI traffic like the 87 and 86

Even I am not a fan of 1st gen dmu I would like to see more of them some thing like a class and 117 and 121 since they would be good are they run on more routes then a 101 and 108 Like for 117 we got the Goblin Line, Great Western Express, West Cornwall, Fife Circle, Cross City and for 121 to have Cardiff City Great Western Express and Thames Valley

I love the look of this one! Loving the Green livery too! Although I was really hoping they'd give the 31 some love! I don't mind the 47 variant but I do love the 31

After watching a cab ride of this video. I’m looking forward to this one. The scenery is absolutely stunning. So glad it’s in Just Train’s hands. It looks amazing.

Good to see that the 108 window frames have now been coloured BR Grey correctly rather than black as in all the previous updates.

It would have been even more stunning if it carried on to Barrow. The run will end just as it starts to get interesting.

Certainly agree it would have been great to go all the way to to Barrow, however us ending at Whitehaven is not a pointless end point thankfully with services terminating here. I believe it was a 2 hourly service through to Barrow.

The project so far has been in development for around 11 months for what we have taken on. To go to barrow would certainly extend the cost of the project and mean you would be waiting a heck of a lot longer to get hold of what is already a very charming experience :)

    Cheers, Tom

Even when you could last take a direct train from Carlisle to Barrow, it was a good two and a half hour trip - I doubt it was much quicker 40 years ago!

I did the "Northern" 37s a few times until they ruined them by adding DBSO's and the actual "coastal" part of the route had a feeling of a heritage line, fairly low linespeeds with jointed track and of course a tractor on the front making some noise :)

As for the route in game, looking excellent, I'm happy to see the green 108 (though green isn't my thing) and much welcome another "Duff" variant and of course some new wagons too. I think this route will have quite a bit to offer and am very much looking forward to having a go :)

If there is one thing you have done with your 3 routes so far, it's giving more than expected and when things are omitted it's for reasons that makes sense.

South of Whitehaven you lose half the view as Scotland disappears and you're left with the beautiful grey Irish Sea!!
Admittedly until Maryport you only have fleeting views of the Fells and Solway but to call it uninteresting is harsh Vern.
There's plenty of history to look at, much of it railway related, rolling hills and fields, criss crossing of rivers, 'secret' military sites even- IF they include it!
At the time the Workington steel works had several daily trains, Dalston had it's oil terminal fully operational, the docks at Workington saw weekly traffic in and out, Maryport still had it's coal sidings and RNAD Broughton Moor had its workings, especially when USN ships docked in Workington!!
What in particular is more interesting on the Whitehaven-Barrow section?
Admittedly, Albright's sidings and traffic would have been more stunning, but only if it were to include the corkickle incline, pointless without it.
Sellafield, Imposing perhaps but not not stunning. At that time Thorpe (reprocessing) hadn't been commissioned and it had much less traffic, most of it going south to Barrow docks.
As much as I'd like to have the whole run to Barrow, knowing the limitations, I can appreciate why JT are only going to Whitehaven.
I'd much rather have 100% of 'Uninteresting' 50 miles than 50% of an 'Interesting' 100 miles!

With the 47/0s coming to the game what subclasses are remaining?

    Now we have /0, /3 and /4?

Will have to disagree. Having watched both the original Railscene cab ride from a Class 108 and the more recent Videoscene one from a Class 47 railtour, the section south to Sellafield and Ravenglass is the scenic highlight of the route. Yes it would have added more mileage but most of the distance even back in the 80's was basic rural railway. I just feel slightly short changed and we know JT are quite capable of delivering the longer routes as with WCML Over Shap. The running time is irrelevant as that's what the save game is for.

I just get fed up with seeing these truncated routes in TSW. Okay, this isn't as bad as Bernina but I just think it's a bit of a cheek to call it Cumbrian Coast, when we only get half of what that route actually entails.

I can only hope there is a long term plan at JT to do the central and southern section in a follow up route, along with Lancaster to Barrow.

Granted St Bees to Ravenglass is all coastal/ cliff running and is stunning in it's own right (I omitted it for fear of going all Peoples front of Judea). I hear what your saying and feel exactly the same way as you Vern with regard to hacked routes, but in all truth when have we had anything other?!
I initially, was grieved too at the length but the more I contemplated it, and as it's JT I'm prepared to give them the benefit, as I said I'd rather have 100% of something than 50% of nothing.
Cab rides never give you the full vista as there only pointing one direction. Rest assured there's plenty to the left and right to keep your attention Vern, I travel the line on a weekly basis (Maryport to Carlisle) and (when it finally reopens) down to Ulverston on a fortnightly one and I certainly pull out the phone after I've seen what's happening on the Ratty!!

Only if you include the heat mirage of Snaefell

These two pictures alone justify what I'm saying OldVern......
The upper of the two is Siddick ponds where you will see a line crossing them.
The lower is the ground frame for said line, Buckhill being the colliery the original line served at Cameron. It's a very steep climb up to Seaton where you then reverse ( where the dmu is situated upper picture) and climb further up to Broughton Moor (400ft), all in two miles.
It then served Cumbria's 'Area 51' Broughton Moor, where to this day it's still fenced off and abandoned but that another story in itself.
That's what JT do best, attention to detail, this was my litmus for the route and looks like they delivered.

Well, on a clear day you can see the Isle of Man! Also at Whitehaven, Preston Street Goods would still have been open in 1986, though not sure how much traffic there would have been.

The route is looking fantastic - can’t wait to drive it and properly explore, although I’m surprised to see Workington shed so busy - in my day (pre-86) it was roofless and pretty much derelict, only used for storing cripples and failed 40s and 25s. The station bay was the stabling point, with the crew mess and sign-on point in the yard at the back of the station. The shed doors were painted with vertical yellow/black panels rather than wasp stripes too. Doesn’t really detract from the overall look of the route though - if anything it’s nice to see the shed busy again :D

I agree that what we’re getting looks superb but purely from my personal point of view I am still not sure whether this will justify a full price Day One purchase. Not saying I won’t, but with Neckartalbahn also looking to be in the offing and various stuff outside TSW getting close (Coaches for ETS2), this sadly may end up on my B (sale) list.

Why was the decision made not to include the class 25 as they were literally based at Carlisle in 1986. I feel like omitting it from the base route is nearly like a missed opportunity as it would be nice to have new BR traction in the game. I am aware that the 47/0 is a new sub class but it’s not a new class entirely. I’ll be shocked if this doesn’t come via the season of reveals.

Hear, hear. That might have sweetened the deal a bit re the route length and laid the ground for further 1980 -1987 routes where these were still a common sight. One for the Q&A.

Doing 2 brand new pieces of stock for one route is a lot of work and wouldn't really be feasible.

Every new release of screenshots just looks even better than the last - including happy memories of the green DMU with the white ‘whiskers’ weirdly applied to the yellow front, perfectly recreated.

I’ve made a commitment to myself that I’m not going to buy Carlisle-Whitehaven until JT have added arrival times to the schedules on Preston-Crewe, as their absence spoils that route for me so I’ve barely played it, and putting my hand in my pocket again therefore feels wrong. These pictures are testing my resolve, I must admit, but I’m standing firm!

Good point. I can't understand why they are proving such an issue when BPO and Shap have them on all the schedules. Hopefully they will be present on this route - a question to ask on the preview stream once the date surfaces. Actually on that note I'm trying to recall if any of the stations between Carlisle and Whitehaven were request stops and if so whether and how this has been implemented in game.

Flimby was definitely a request stop - I think Dalston was as well IIRC, although it’s going back 45+ years, so don’t quote me on it :D

Same here, the 25 far more versatile on the classic routes we have, could just about pop up on NTP and TVL.

I can see why they'd be stretching it a bit as weren't they all gone by the late 80s? So there wouldn't have been a ton of them in late 1986, just a handful left. But they'd still be around (just now many)
They were on the other hand produced by the hundreds (unlike some fan favorites around here...ahem ;-)
I think they came a BIT late for the SOS/PFR maybe?
Although again you can "fudge" it a little.
I admit they sorta look similar to the 31, 33, etc but if we went by looks, then a lot of our locos would have been rejected since they do tend to be of similar "styling"

They were still pretty prevalent in the North West in the mid 80s. Trip workings were the speciality.

on PFR they were being tested in 63 and by august 1964 had taken over on the ici hoppers, although the PFR is odd that its set in the 60s but with a very much mid 50s loco mix so its very much been fudged a bit.

The 25 is the type of loco missing the most from all the JT routes and it will be very much missed on the remastered NTP. 25s were the bankers at Man Vic. 31s and 37s lesser seen at the West end of that route.

Yeah, I keep hearing it's "set in" 1958, but others say it has things from the early 60s, so... that's where I'm good with fudging it a bit if it means some fun early diesel traction. I doubt the lines themselves were that different in 1963 or 1965 than they were in 1958 to be honest. Not like pretending it's the 80s or something.

Ok I'll be the first one to speculate, "where next?"

    My money is on either of these two;

North Wales Coast - Much requested and they have really laid the groundwork in with Crewe (though AABS have also done a Modern Crewe) which would almost certainly include the 25 and possibly a refreshed 40?

Carlisle - Newcastle - Again, they've laid the groundwork in with Carlisle and it would offer some interesting workings (though I'm not sure how much would be freight), could include "diversion day" type deals with extra services across. The thing is, going over to Newcastle means the ECML, could mean a Valenta HST set finally?

Anyway, back to normality (oh and btw, personally I'd prefer a Manchester Network type deal over either of the above but that's not the point). The above was partially tongue in cheek just to get some of this lot foaming at the mouths...

Soooo, to be fair to JT, with Workington they are giving us the lovely looking 108 with quite a few variants (bars, no-bars, headcode box, no box, green etc...) which I think some might be overlooking when thinking about the included traction, the 47/0 is a welcome addition as are the new wagons. I do wonder, will we see the log train diagrams added into the Preston-Crewe timetable? I can't recall the 80s era but in recent history it was rare for them to come via Shap with them going over the S&C, meaning they could be worked from Farrington Jn - Warrington at least :)

It's a tricky one regarding fudging things, there are the purists who want everything "just right", those who are happy for a bit of fudging and then the insane few who are happy to have everything completely out of era like some weird Dr Who type mess with Virgin Pendolinos running alongside 101s... I'm in the middle camp, I don't mind a bit of fudging (like I'd happily have the 150/2 being on Blackpool Branches even though the /2 was still a couple of years off and the /1 only just coming in), with Crewe-Preston-Shap, I don't mind the odd 40 and maybe 1 Peak but anything more is pushing it. With regard to Preston-Crewe though, I wouldn't have an issue seeing more 40s drop onto the North Wales services, though from memory it was mostly of a Weekend when that was the norm.

I have a feeling that both the 25 and the 56 are coming. I know that a 56 was used for sound recording sessions a few months ago, though not the parties involved. Are any DCC 56 models coming up for release? If not then we may have a winner :) As for the 25, I can feel it in my bones :p

Also great to see feedback being picked up and passed on regarding things like those shed doors, JT do seem to make the extra effort :)

I'd suggest cutting across the country in the middle to then start on the East Coast. That's a natural move with the new routes for the ECML popping up. An 80s route also fits nicely with the surrounding routes of NTP and TVL. We've "almost" linked across through Leeds and Manchester from the WCML, so building up the ECML makes sense, linking NTP, TVL and the ECML modern to the north up to York.

I'd love them to move somewhere else, hello NSE! But if they stick in the North West, I wouldn't mind seeing the existing route be linked into Manchester to link to NTP (even though it would be a few years difference in timetables). So either Chat Moss line or Preston > Manchester.
