With the Oakville Sub out, there are stations but no passenger trains? We need Bombardier cab cars like CalTrain and a triclops F59PH.
If we could create liveries and add to the game, then I think that a GO livery for the MP36 would be awesome on this route.
I would love to see some GO Transit content, but I feel like if DTG were to try and get GO trains they would have to be unbranded. When you look at the stations there are ticket machines, you can see that the logo on the machines resembles the GO Transit logo but it isn't likely due to copyright issues. A lot of North American commuter lines aside from Caltrain are very strict with licensing when it comes to their products being shown in Train Simulator and TSW. Perhaps DTG might figure out a way to get commuter rail content similar to GO Transit at the expense of the trains being unbranded, but who knows. In the end, I would love to get some commuter action in the Oakville Subdivision
Those machines are exactly the same that Metrolinx (which oversees GO Transit) look like. How do I know? I live here. Asking Metrolinx for permission should not be too big of a deal. Extending the Oakville Sub, a big deal.
Triclops refers to the three window design. For example, some SD60Ms have three windows, and are refereed to as triclops because there was a second SD60 model with the spartan cab design and one with the comfort cab with only two windows, similar to the SD70M or SD70MAC. So yes, I know they were built like that, all F59PH were, even the F59PHI which has a unusually distinct design.
Seeing that there is no commuter services at all, DTG probably didn't even ask GO Transit about licensing permissions.
In the dev stream they said that they thinking about GO Train Addon for OSD, but they can't promise. I think it's a good sign. Because at the Peninsula Corridor dev stream they did the same with the Baby bullet. And since one week we can use the Baby Bullet on PC.
They should extend it to Toronto... And the falls. I think RRO gets away with it because it has 20 stations crammed into its short length and you can do the limited stopper RE service as an option with other subbed trains. I'd actually quite like to see them add passenger services to this route, but I think 41 minutes and 5 stops end-to-end will be far too short for a lot of people. The extra couple of stops up to Toronto Union Station would push it out to 1hr 12 mins, which would be far more palatable.
I only say the F59PH because I don’t really want just a reused MP36PH-3C since we have no other choice for the possible rolling stock, as GO only uses Bombardiers. I know that F59PHs and PHIs are in decline, but it would spice up the commute game even more.
Try doing this prototypically. Not possible. This is way too short. And how do I know? I live here. The Baby Bullet had a point. This doesn't.
Only problem is, except for the batch made in 1994, which will now be retired, we only have MP40's and MP54's. And for the rolling stock? Since 1975. You don't really have a choice with that.
If DTG were to release a GO Transit add-on, I personally don't think it would be as appealing only because it is almost exactly the same as the Peninsula Corridor add-on.
You really can't with that subdivision. The cab cars are different than the Peninsula Corridor add-on. I'm still not in favour of a GO Transit addon, unless they extend the route to the US Border in Niagra Falls, or to Toronto. The train station is literally hundreds of feet from it.
You could kiss running freight on it goodbye past Oakville. Banished to a 3 hour window. But a mix? 100%. By the way, the CalTrain Cabcar, is the old setup. The newer cab cars are not like that. If you want to talk really old, when the cab cars were new on GO Transit, they did not have the left side window. The recent ones (ones built after 2000 and the rebuilds) have this. Recently they have started putting the old cab cars in the trainsets in various positions.
Toronto would be utterly amazing and an instant buy for me as I live in the city. However, I can imagine it would be a nightmare to model and be an enormous download.
They handled San Francisco, and the entire peninsula which is teeming with suburban details, as would an extension to Toronto.
There is only 4 station stops litterally would only be a maximum of a 15 minute run dtg would just be wasting time producing the locos and rolling stock.
Oakville to West Harbor is 41 mins - see my post above - but yeah, your point stands: too short without a route extension in one or other direction.
Yes I actually agree with ur proposal. I, too, would love to see a F59 in TSW, and even if DTG (or any other third party dev) can’t make the new bombardiers, they could always make the older models similar to Caltrain!
Yes, and they would have to record a different prime mover sound for it since it’s an MP40PH-3C, a 16-710G3B rather than a 16-645F3
Yea but I certainly don’t care if we don’t get at least 1hr of running time on a commuter train. 40 min huh? At least for me, that kinda reasonable, but maybe not for those who enjoy longer runs (maybe I got too used to running the 1hr bullet services on the Peninsula, very fast and less time consuming)
I don’t think so. San Francisco 4th and King Street station in SFJ is right in the middle of a huge metropolis (not as huge as NY tho), and I don’t think DTG really had that many difficulties creating it. Also, since there are huge buildings in the way, there is no need to see that far when exploring in free cam mode or on foot. If DTG could do that, then they can do this!
Oh and the thought of an F59, ooh, that would be great! Luv that 12-710G3A (they’re also in my area, used to hear then once a week here in LA and MetroLink).
I think A F59, MP40-PH And A CEM Cab Car Would be PERFECT For a Toronto to Niagara Line, Lake Shore west would be SELLLLL Im Telling you. And if this would be something of a route, ADD VIA RAIL, This would change the whole Game Considering Amtrak P42S Have clearly Not been considered, I Also Would agree will, GO TRANSIT IS IN LITERLLY NO TRAIN GAME. And This update/DLC Would Make North-Ams Very Happy.
