I’m looking for Looking for DLC/scenario recommendations. I tend to like all eras but have a soft spot for steam and also strange/far away locations. I mainly like a scenario or set of scenarios that tell a story rather than just following a commuter schedule. I’ve already got RW Enhancer which I think is definitely worth the price. I see that the ARmstrong Powerhouse Weather pack is on sale. Is it worth the price or not? I see that there are a few TW forums out there. Is this the best one/most active or are there others that people recommend? Thanks in advance
Hi 1. Not steam yet in TSW. You have routes in Germany England and North America to choose 3: it's probably written mostly here though. But much is quite thin I can experience. I visit many TSW forum to get right info Discord https://discordapp.com/channels/373055767642898433/373056545795080203 ( it is more written here) https://www.trainsim.com/vbts/forumdisplay.php?124-Train-Sim-World https://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewforum.php?f=385&sid=61c048c9db3d56293e0ac9320fd0ba03 http://railworksamerica.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=67 (requires login)
Sorry Jorgen but I asking about Train Simulator, not Train Sim World. (I do own TSW so this information is useful.
Riviera in the 50s route is a good route with lots of Steam action. Sadly most routes you buy use scheduled timetable scenarios. Bossman games make some good Steam Locos with scenarios for the Riviera route that I have mentioned and also Just Trains. Great British Railway Journeys might be of interest to you based on the TV program. https://store.steampowered.com/app/1226690/Great_British_Railway_Journeys/
When I started out with Train Simulator I mentioned that I was into steam engines and someone recommended the workshop scenarios by the Steam (as in Valve software) user TobBirk. It was also recommended I get the Western Lines of Scotland DLC which I can also highly recommend.
I'm confess I'm not a die-hard steam buff but I do appreciate the variety. I'll second the recommendations for both Riviera in the '50s and WLoS. (I got the Diesel-Hydraulic pack for the former and bought the latter with Classes 20 and 27 Diesels but I suppose you could do without them...) Look up Caledonia Works for some vintage loco's to run on WLoS. You've just missed a very generous give-away unfortunately but the Spinner is available as a free sample. I'd add the older Woodhead route most interesting to me for the EM1s and EM2s but set during the transition period from steam to Diesel/electric so plenty of opportunities for kettle action. I even got the Robinson O4 and Thompson B1- a couple of relatively cheap loco's to add to it. The Weardale and Teesdale Network in the '60s is Diesel only as it comes but could represent any period from Nationalization to the start of Corporate Blue fairly convincingly (and perhaps earlier if turn a blind eye to some of the branding) if you have some NE loco's that need a run out. With the caveat that I haven't had a good look at it (like most people obviously because it's not been released) The Stainmore Line, currently on pre-order from Steam Sounds Supreme looks brilliant. Just needs some Diesels. You hear more from the Developers here for obvious reasons but the forums in Steam seem to be much more active. Both are worthwhile.
Although jörgen Näslund pointed you at the UKTS TSW forum they also cover other sims including TS2020 You will also find a large file repository of repaints and scenarios To download or ask a question you will need to register https://www.uktrainsim.com/ And this is the General Discussion forum where you can read posts without being a member https://forums.uktrainsim.com/viewforum.php?f=361 Peter
