After reading a few topics on here asking about where, time and bait to use to catch the Wels catfish on Lake Waldsee i thought id post this to try help with the catching of trophy fish. During a Carp competition i was using bottom and popped tiger nuts and noticed some Cats spawn into the area my lines where set. i noted the time and weather set up and went back after the competition was finished. Using tiger nuts again i was plagued by Carp so switched to a dead-bait set up with great success having numerous Pike (Harpoon) and big Zander to just under 18lbs and 2 trophy Cats (Stephen and Prost) along with 6 other cats to just under 60lbs. Weather: Clear Sky Time of day: Sunrise Bait: Smelt head or smelt Peg: North double peg, right hand side (looking out onto the lake) Bottom: Silt Yards: 20 & 40 Rod Locations: 3 rods at 20 yards (approx 3 yards apart) working in a clockwise motion starting at 9-am, fishing 3 rods for 15/20 minutes before moving them to 11-am and so on until finishing at 3-pm then repeating at 40 yards. Hope that helps and passes some time while we cant get out to do some real fishing haha.
Just to add i had Curiosity out last night. so just Clive and Felix to catch now and Waldsee trophy catfish list will be ticked off. i attached a picture of the location of where i had Curiosity. same peg, time and weather as previous post.
