Following the retirement of the North Wales Coastal routes after Virgin went last year, they're now retiring all other Welsh routes, including the Welsh Marches route which has only been out for four months!

No idea why they want to get shot of the Welsh, but if you want to maintain a truly British collection I suggest getting on the sale page

I still think it's a sad day when they retire SIX DLC all in one go rather than updating to new liveries

No doubt DTG have looked at the options and decided this was the least bad for them. It's not good for the 3rd party developers, maybe the Welsh Marches from Bossman will be available direct from them; time will tell.

I think DTG have managed to wipe out all TS mainlines in Wales, with just Corris and Maerdy left.

arriva.jpg It is because of Arriva trains no longer operating in Wales and because of that DTG are no longer licensed to have Arriva logos on their trains I would imagine that is the situation.

A bit late isn't it? Arriva have not been operating in Wales since 2018. How come they were not withdrawn then?

Maybe Arriva weren't aware until now that Dovetail were continuing?

Maybe DB (who own Arriva Trains) changed their minds about letting Dovetail continue?

More likely a contract renewal and they couldn't come to an agreement

They're not removal all DB content, such as anything EWS, so I doubt it's that

Either way, slightly annoying that a country which six months ago was well represented will be completely gone from DTG's map.

It is annoying but unless we know the facts it seems unfair to blame DTG. I hardly think they would have removed a route only on sale for four months if they had a choice. Hopefully they will re-release with either unbranded (although that is unlikely) or back dated stock. Personally a large logo 37 and a class 101 would make my day!

Hopefully they're retiring the old brands and will release them all (with a discount for those who own the old versions) under TfW colours.

The 150/2 is not made by DTG but by Armstrong Powerhouse.
And if you want a train in TfW livery you can have one today by finding a repaint

    I know
Not from next week. Anyone wanting one from then will need the base units from DTG which will be off sale.
I've got all bar the Welsh Marches route, but I'm sure others will miss out

From what I read on another page
The company that owns the brand has decided not to renew their deal with Dovetail Games. There have been no legal issues at all, but there will be legal issues if these add-ons remain on sale after the licence agreement ends
Which is why there is an end date for these items

What xenophobic rubbish are you talking about?
Arriva may be owned by the DB but it is entirely run from the UK in Sunderland.

They don't operate the Wales and Borders Franchise any more
Unlike Virgin trains they did not tell DTG to remove the branding when the franchise changed 18 months ago
They decided not to renew the agreement when it was due to expire in April

Have they turned round and told DTG to remove the XC branding of the Class 220
Have they tod DTG to remove the Grand Central branding off the Class 180
Nope and these are also Arriva services.

Not xenophobic thanks, and I understand contract law.
They also haven't told DTG to remove their branding off every BUS I have seen in game. Nor remove DB or EWS from other branding littered around the place

It was supposed to be lighthearted so get off my case. Thanks

Just wish I could get the NWC extension :(, I even managed to get NWC after it was removed thanks to getting the TS18 version as mentioned in another thread. Other than a scenario pack I've got everything else.

749006 linked a route map a while back and on that I'm sure there were a couple of other third party routes, anyone know what they are and where to get them?

Why do I care? Coz I'm Welsh of course.. :D

The Arriva DLC is still on sale on Steam and DTG's website and it's a day after the deadline. Does anybody know what's going on?

Probably unlikeley but maybe DTG might have made a last ditch attempt at renewing the license agreement and it was a success. Or whoever is in charge of taking stuff off sale from the store forgot to do so.

Oh yeah they're still on sale! I wonder if I should buy the Welsh Marches Line...

And still they are on sale, both on Steam and the DTG store, but no announcement. Very strange.

Could they of kept the routes with the same rolling stock but with a fictitious livery and branding?

That would have been possible, but they chose not to do it. I can sort of see why. If they updated the existing products then previous owners might be annoyed when their products were forcibly de-branded by Steam. If they released them as new products it might confuse users, especially when legacy workshop scenarios wouldn't work with the new products. Or maybe they thought the development effort wouldn't be justified in terms of sales. All the products - except Welsh Marches and the scenario pack - are mature products, so maybe not a lot of new purchases to be had.

Personally I would have been happy to have my previous purchases de-branded, but others may disagree.

I just wish it was possible to keep the old routes (the same store listing, still compatible with scenarios) but simply only debrand for new buyers and not those who already own them. The Welsh Marches Line is an awful casualty of this though. Hopefully BMG will find a way to sell it on their website.

I am so glad I got the Welsh Marches prior to it being pulled, it is an outstanding route and clear favourite now. Just wish I'd got the NWC extension to complete my Welsh payware collection.

No need for any of this stupidity to happen. If they modelled the routes in the BR era. This is what happens when the obsession in creating addons, is with the plastic privatised shambles.

The problem with that idea is people who are not as old as you want what they know about rather than what they read about.
Anyone who is under 30 years old won't have any knowledge of BR apart from what they see in books and on the net.

Not everyone wants railways to have stopped in 1997... I would prefer it if routes were separate from TOCs but that's the way the franchises work for the most part but I didn't see why the whole North Wales route needed pulling unless the stations were branded in Virgin. The South Wales route does have Arriva branding on the station signs.

But not if you want to get from Shrewsbury to Birmingham New Street. The West Midlands Railway 170 would be much better for that.

Somewhere on the web you can see the Steam sales for each of the DLC.
And you will find the newer, post privatisation routes and trains sell better than the older routes and train.

It might be a misconception in the model railway community but this is a simulator where the main emphasis is driving trains rather than building a model railway.

I assume that DTG have found that modern era/contemporary content sells better than older stuff. They know what sells and will inevitably go with the money.
