I used to operate these trains. I like to work on select NYCT services. So I'm not really a T/O that much but I know insiders info and can confirm that I have worked with this type of train.

Also one more thing even though I have worked on the job. I still love videogames. I love both. I always loved and had a passion simulation games and video games in general, Me getting the chance to operate and control these marvels is a life-changing event. My cousin is a real T/O or train operator. But I still prefer to operate trains in-game it is a lot easier than in real life.

Yeah it's complicated in real life so just do it in a video game

I love to talk with amazing train fans like you all. Even though I just started on the forums I have been with TSW and TS classic since 2014. TSW 2020 is truly an amazing game. I have hope in this game. I can't wait for the M3. Based on the info I have heard from Youtube and other sources, I would put a release date for the LIRR M3 on May 5th or the 7th. But it is also possible to release the train on May 12th or 14th. *Still speculation* Otherwise have a great morning/afternoon/night everyone. I probably won't be back until later.

The hands of T/Os would get sweaty like very moist also it would hurt your hands to constantly push down on that lever for 1+ hours if you were driving a commuter train. The cloth was to prevent any accidents or losing control of the throttle/brakes

They should come out with a foot pedal for the deadman switch, similar to the racing wheel setups

Based on the previous DLCs, usually the average wait time between the "Coming Soon" post and "Out Now" is about 2 weeks. The 5th seems too early to me but hey, I'd enjoy it if it could arrive as soon as possible.

I'd love to see if there was any way to set up the Master Controller I have to make it compatible with a game. Especially with these arriving soon.

Ok, But keep in mind the 7th, 12th & 14th are also very feasible days for release. I think this is one of the most anticipated trains for me. Being a New Yorker I love our trains and seeing them in TSW 2020 is a true marvel, No matter if the are the perfect exact train or not or overpriced. TSW 2020 LIRR route needs more freight action. Who remembers the GP38-2s/NYCT MP15ACs that were used with Norfolk Southern that were on the LIRR in the late 90s?. Even some small yard/freight moves would be nice for LIRR on TSW.

Yeah they need to add the freight line's for more traffic & for shunting in the yard

I am currently wondering if the M3 will feature different paint schemes, Similar to what they use in real life. Some M3 sets use the old 80s-90 scemes. It would be cool to switch or have mixed consists with these. The screenshots DTG posted were fairly early development of the M3. So it could still be a possibility. What do you guys think so far about the M3?. Yes I would like to keep the M3 thread alive until it comes out.

Based on the images, I'd say they'll likely have a consistent scheme (Modern Day) without any stripes along the sides. Unless if the community makes a modification to change up the scheme. Something I've been wondering would be if the cab door would have a swinging feature just like the cosmopolitans in Train Simulator. As you increase the speed with the door open, it begins to close gradually and vise versa.

That could work. The physics engine within TSW is not bad that could indeed work, However they would need to code this physics feature with the motion of the train. I doubt DTG would implement it but hey they could surprise us. In real life when I used to operate them, We always kept the door open because the cabs are so small but very comfy. As of the retirement of the M2 M4 & M6 (2018) All current surviving M3A/M3 trains must have the cab door closed at all times. As for what I have noticed within the cab, The cab looks very realistic and very accurate to the M3 train cab. I want to see how the Throttle/Brake lever functions within the game on controllers. The closest thing we have to the lever the M3 uses in TSW currently is the Class 101 levers. Those levers are not the same but they are used similar sort-of.

Actually, if I remember correctly there are licensing issues with NY&A freight, and ... well yeah, they could pretend it's the 90's but I really don't think they'd do that, especially with the M7. So I really don't think we'll ever see LIRR freight, unless of course we get an editor.

As for release date, on the Tees Valley stream the other day, Dmitri mentioned that it'll be "a couple weeks" or something along those lines, though making sure to say hat's just a guess and not an official release date. But he also said something about LIRR being announced... earlier than it was supposed to? Which would explain the weird Friday announcement... or I'm not remembering things properly, IDK I just checked in on the stream at a fortunate time, I don't remember the timestamp...

...so, assuming it was actually supposed to be announced sometime in the last week, I'm leaning more towards a release on May 14th or something like that.

Of course not, they've been suspiciously silent about it for... well, years now. I have the feeling it's still technically not cancelled, but really low priority, and management wants them to focus on pushing out more DLC instead, so...

I did just go back and confirm that quote from the stream! Yesterday's Tees Valley / Class 31 stream, at 26:20-

So... a "couple weeks" from yesterday is probably most likely, but don't hold them to it- they're always very clearly rushing with DLC as it is.

I just hope the M3 will be decent when it comes to content and hope that it will be worth $20 USD. DTG has had a fair share of questable DLC's in the past. Being known for DLC's worth combined over $1,000 USD. Which speaks profit in a way but in terms of content I'm still on the fence.

Here are all Timetable journeys from the three existing lines oft he Lirr. I hope at some point we will get such a timetable to finaly bring this busy route to life. The additional services in the morning and in the afternoon, allow of course a lot of new shunting timetable operations. Most trains are parked during the day.

The only acceptable reason on the part of DTG, could be technical problems with too many trains on this line. Laziness on the part of DTG is not accepted. It`s time to listen the community. Route extensions, the M9 and the DM30AC and everyone would be happy with the Lirr.

Very good for the MP15AC/GP38-2 to be added and would allow shunting, switching & cutting of train consists. This would also allow short haul MOW services to be allowed to pass on. As for now the LIRR M3 is the closest we have to all of this amazing services, only time and DTG will tell if this will be an add on.

Funny thing about not changing the timetables , in real life NY Penn- Hempstead only runs rush hours and 2 trains for the day , but TSW has them running 23/7 & 30 mins apart from the other but somehow they couldnt rework the timetable to be more accurate or show that Hicksville- NY Penn is more active than 1 train per hour . Made a rush hour train run 23/7 . Not sure why no trains run btwn midnight& 1am on any line either . I hope 1 day they will make these corrections and revamp the lines to reflect real life LIRR action. Belmont Park sits majority of the time idle outside Jamaica. 3rd Atlantic Term train goes back to the yard after doing 2 runs until evening rush. No City Terminal Zone trains . Revamp please DTG

The amount of train traffic should not be a problem for DTG. In TS2020, for the Hudson and New Haven line, some of the AM and PM peak rush hour scenarios feature heavy train traffic. Literally, you may encounter an inbound or outbound train about every 2-7 minutes during the AM/PM peak rush hour. Yesterday, I encountered about 4-5 trains between Harlem-125th st and Yankees-E153rd st all in about 5 minutes. This comes at a cost though with somewhat lower fps. I agree, perhaps there may be low amounts of train traffic in TSW to avoid the fps drops.

I will definitely be glad to see the M9's and bilevels for the LIRR route as well. It would be great if we can get the MP15AC for LIRR. With that, you will definitely have rescue trains, Sandite trains, and freight action. The combination of all the models on the LIRR and timetable additions will add to the realism and feel of prototypical LIRR operations.

In the future, I would like to see more scenarios acting as a conductor especially since we're getting the M3. When I'm arriving at Forest Hills or Kew Gardens, doors open weather on or off the platform. Having the feature to become a conductor and collect tickets would be different from the normal experience continuously sitting in the cab. Adding a feature to allow a player to stick their head out the window would also be pretty nice.

Is it possible for DTG to do ASI along with the message boards on the M7?

I really hope DTG see's your comment it makes no sense your trying to make a route that's based on nyc & yet the trains don't have any conducter system. They don't even have the announcements in the train car's it just make's it not very realistic.I belive that the m3 needed someone to speak on the mic so that makes sense that they don't have this for the m3 but really the m7 has no excuse for no message boards or the announcements. It's just suprising

The texture of interior ceiling of the passenger compartment looks appaling. These passenger section textures are horrible in many of the recently released DLCs. Render lighting with ambient occlusion and global illumination and bake it to the textures, please..

I hope so. Here is a picture of cartoonish floor texture of Mark 1 carriage supplied with West Somerset DLC.

This is true, However the amount of services in LIRR currently is too little compared to the new routes TSW 2020 is getting here in 2020. You may argue that the tech that was used to code and make LIRR is outdated but that is no excuse (At Least what I think) to has such few services. The LIRR M3 is really going to show if LIRR will get a refresh after standing derelict for about 1-1/2 years. My hopes are the M3 will add at least 30 more extra services such as rush-hour peak direction services, Yard moves & maintenance runs.

I know the reason for the few services. Matt was originally working on one that was much more like the real one, but they ran into issues with the dispatcher, and couldn’t use that one, so they had to make a new one in a short time.

Ok that does explain why there are so few, But why have Matt or other DTG developers went back to the route to revamp the services?. Take the newest route: Hauptstrecke Rhein Ruhr route when bought with all DLCs their is a maximum of 374 services which is a lot. I was thinking the LIRR M3 would add a few services to the route as well as a few special moves. But based on what I heard in the streams this is unfortunately not the case.

Matt is working on the actual LIRR timetable in his spare time. It might not actually ever make it into TSW.

so why is he the only person working on it and not the actual development team?

MattP is the TSW Project Director for DTG... If he says "he's working on it", you can be sure there's input from others also

Matt is Great in lying and ignoring to the Community always, he only care about the money because many Timetable schedules are wrong like Rhein Ruhr Osten or many routes has the wrong Loco in Germany or trains

Only one person can work on a timetable.

Because the route timetable has been finished and the route released and no more actual company resources are allocated to an old route which will not bring in any further income. The development team are busy making new routes to sell and keep the company a viable concern. Matt may be working on a better timetable in his spare time because he takes pride in his work and would like to see it more like his original vision for the route. With all the testing that would need to be done to ensure a new timetable does not affect the smooth running of the sim, he would need to do some serious persuading for his bosses to allow the team to divert attention to tinkering with finished routes.

That doesn’t sound like Matt to me. He’s a very passionate employee who strives constantly for the improvement of the sim for everyone. He probably won’t listen much to members of the community who personally slag him off though.

And also, because they hardly accept criticism.
If everyone would praise the game as perfect, like two or three people here, they would come and chat here.
But unfortunately, too much criticism, so I'm leaving .....
