I figured I'd ask the question. Which countries would you all like to see added to the TSW universe? Obviously existing countries like the UK, US, Germany and Canada don't count.

I'd like to see Switzerland for scenery, Japan for it's insanity (super busy and some mad train designs) and away from the big cities some amazing scenery, Italy could be interesting from a scenic angle and has some pretty funky train designs. France could be interesting with TER undergoing a renaissance as regions start funding it properly.

So where would you like to see?

Sweden/Norway- Part of the 'Arctic Circle Express' route please!
    France
Italy- it's a very interesting railway still. I'd like to see part of the route that involves the shunting of coaches onto the ferry for Sicily in Calabria as well as the IC/High Speed/Freight services North of there along the coast.
    Netherlands
Russia- lots of big, Soviet looking diesel/electric locomotives around still and some interesting routes and services.
    Ukraine- as above.
    India

Some of these are quite large potential markets so I'm surprised they haven't been tapped already.

I actually do agree, I would like to see a lot more high speed rail in TSW, although that would require a lot longer route, so we might have to wait.

I think it would be interesting having Cuba because it's an very old railway, but i was thinking more about the nice Scenery of Cuba like railway stations or the typical cuba houses would be nice.

They are countries, as are England and Northern Ireland. The four countries together are the UK. It’s an interesting structure and you should read up about it on Wikipedia as a starting point. And all four countries need representing in TSW.

Yes it's a very inresting structure indeed. But I could not find one single website where they are beeing called "countries" but i've found many who call them "parts". Btw the whole content on Wikipedia is rubbish and not even there they are called so. So they are NO COUNTRIES to clarify that.

I can see this ending badly. The UK is weird in many ways and I'm guessing if someone was to do it from scratch now it would be very different. But things like Tradition comes into it even when things make no sense. I mean in sports the UK is treated as 3 or 4 individual countries* and others as Great Britain (but not the UK?). There are 3 separate Legal systems etc. bank notes vary by country (or even by Bank)

*Some sports, like Rugby have an all Ireland team (both Republic and NI) which makes it an even bigger mess.

If we want to get technical about Scotland and Wales being countries they are both countries of the UK. So yes Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland and England are countries that form under the collective term of the United Kingdom.:D

The name "United Kingdom" derives from the fact that there is a long-standing union between the countries of Scotland and England. By your logic there are no "countries" in the European Union. Wikipedia's web page title is wrong - that page should be a "List of European Member States". But had you investigated just a little further and clicked on the link for the United Kingdom, here:

    https://simple.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_Kingdom

Then you would have found this text:

The United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, simply called the United Kingdom (UK), Great Britain or just Britain, is a sovereign country. It is a constitutional monarchy that is made up of four separate countries: England, Wales, Scotland and Northern Ireland.

Although, that said.... even the above sentence from Wikipedia is wrong, as "Great Britain" (GB) does not include Northern Ireland, not legally anyway.... and the person that wrote that (in Wikipedia) could have worked that out from the first nine words of their own sentence.....

The sentence never says that Great Britain includes Northern Ireland, it just states that Great Britain is one of names that is commonly used to refer to the whole country. The full name is very long and nobody uses it. I normally call it the UK or Britain, two more of the common names stated.

That’s got me thinking that I don’t know anything about trains in Ireland, our nearest neighbour. We could do with some Irish railways in TSW too.

It's actually a very sensitive issue. One that thousands of people have lost their lives over, in fairly recent living memory. But I get your point. They could have said "wrongly call Britain" rather than "simply call Britain"... but then again - it depends on how you interpret the word "simply" - if you take this to not mean "shorter/briefly", and use the other context for the word "simply".... then that's fine by me...

    ;-)

But yes - a trans-national route between the Republic and the Province would be a nice idea for a route....

Well first of all a country is defined as a independent nation and having an own government. I dont think that Scotland and England and Wales and also Northern Ireland are independant. Where I live in Austria we only have the country GB which by us is colloquially called England so very confusing. But nevertheless GB consists of 4 "parts" beeing not independant on their own - not yet. But as I see every person has got another defenition and it's beeing thaugt different too, interesting didn't know that.

The Czech Republic would be nice, it is Eastern Europe-ish and very popular with Germans/Austrians as for trains, so it could make the community somewhat larger.

In reality, the UK, as a structure... is not that much different from other historical unions and federations, such as the länder in Germany....or...indeed.... the länder..... in Austria. Or the federation combining the Swiss cantons... Italy formed as a similar union to the current UK (as a monarchy) in 1861.... (but then became a republic in 1948).....

Oooh. Italia.... back to topic.... let's have Roma-Formia-Napoli in TSW.... or at least Roma-Latina (61km... or 38 miles...)... Lazio.....!

Amigo di plastica, concordo Sullivan fatto che la Roma Latina si occurperebbe elementary gioco. E abbatanza diverificato, in quale epoca proporesti quella strada per essere??????

Translation : Plastic Pal I agree Roma Latina would be nice to have in the game. Its reasonabley diverse, what era would you propose the route be set?????

Edit : Plastic in sure you didnt need the translation, considering your previous post you seem cultured in many languages.;)

I might need a translation for "Cioa".... I haven't a clue what that means.... Some kind of fruit...? Or maybe a new super-food nutritious powerhouse vegetable thingie.....? ;-D

I proposed Roma-Latino..... but I would very much rather have Napoli... circa 1980s..... with sleeper trains from Paris passing through..... A time before the internet and social media... a time when you could spend an entire day just thinking about one thing.... a time when time didn't matter....

...Remember the good old 1980s.... when things were so uncomplicated...? I wish I could back there again.... and everything could be the same.... I've got a ticket to the moo-oon.... I'll be leaving here any day soo-oon.... yeah.... I've got a ticket to the moo-oon, but I'd rather see the sun-rise.... in your eyes..... baby...!

You say remember the 80's I dont I was born in 1997. The good old days of 1997...............yeah..............uuummm. In all seriousness the 80's would be nice gir a route like this, especially with sleeper trains.

The one country that they must do at some point.... the one that surely has to be done. Might not seem obvious.... but the opportunity for so may different trains to pass through... and amazingly not yet even done on TS1... is..:

    The Czech Republic.

Also known as "the crossroads of Europe".

Prahu. Anything out of the main stations of Prague, past or present. Plus freight of every possible kind.

    Poland

Would be great driving the (non refurbished) EN57.

The primary reason I visited Warsaw last year was to see them (and other trains), influenced from playing the Polish DOS game Mechanik EN57
