After some ''detective'' research of some ppl on fb train group and discord, we came to think that this might be the next route for tsw 2: Southeastern Chatam mainline somewhere between London victoria and ramsgate(i know will not be full line probably). Class 375 and 465 runs there. the real life picture, Biddenden on google
I am always amazed at detective work here when things are teased. You look like you are right on the money with this one
I am really hopeful that it is this, and not the line on the Isle of Wight that some people suspect it may be...
agree the video is not really clear though but the bridge does not resemble the foliage in rivet's photo unlike the bridge found near Swalecliffe which has both steps and a bridge covered in foliage
If Rivet has made the route, it could be the full route (assuming) that’s all they’ve had to work on. They’ve not been bogged down bringing the preserved collection over, rebuilding the game engine etc.
well that's ,my current thinking why would DTG make ECW the deluxe route obviously it's one of the recent routes but if it's something like the chatham mainline or branch line that rivet have made some locos maybe can be used on ECW which makes sense to me
i know it's got nothing to do with actual route of ecw like an extension what i was meaning is the locos in rivets route could be used in ecw
We already got the 166 and the 377. From a next UK Dlc I'll expect mainly something like this. A sort of breeze of the real modern era. (I repeat: mainly, then they can add also 200 toy-commuters)
They said "Not quite east coast. But we're slowly getting there..." So could it be Herne Bay in Kent or The Bridge in Ryde, Isle of Wight?
Tankerton or Swalecliff, where pensioners go to die..... Are the highspeed trains speed restricted between Margate and Faversham as they are between Margate and Ashford?
Im leaning towards this also, the facebook group im in is rife with speculation as to what the route could be Im guessing we will find out for sure in tommorrows road map reveal
All this speculation is very fun. I just hope people won’t be disappointed when the actual route is announced.
I know Beeching cut the UK railways to the bone, but finding what might be this bridge in the hundreds, if not thousands, of miles of track left in service and doing so this quickly, batters my brain lol.
Neither do I to be fair. I was the under the impression I could run an ICE 3 on LIRR if I wanted too (with off the rails turned on of course).
I can see the similarities... I can't find any pictures in my immediate source material... and it would take a while to gothrough all of my Wight Reports to see if there is another picture in one of them...
thing is though all around the stairs is green in the photo by rivet and i'm sure they wouldn't do a mistake as simple as that
That is incorrect. You can use your locos, new or preserved on any route in TSW2 (if you use Off The Rails in the Scenario Planner). The only exception is if the train is longer than any stops it needs to make.
Interesting detective work. Personally I hope it isn't the Isle of Wight as it is another route that once you have done a few journeys in it, it gets a bit boring, certainly from my experience of the TS1 version, and that had the steam railway too which obviously this version wouldn't have. The Ryde end is interesting though and would look good in TSW.
I forgot about the length issue. I hope it doesn’t cause any heartache where you really want a specific train on a route but cannot spawn it because of length
Sorry to be stupid...but there are only four tracks on the rivet shot...yet everyone is sharing 6? Or am I being stupid?
rivet said to someone they have a keen eye for spotting the 3 tracks so that's how we know its from the uk
not denying its from the UK! I am struggling to count the 6 rails (the pesky third rail) It may just be the angle of dangle! D
Bridge assets in TSW are rarely exactly the same as the real ones in the route. My Island Line guess is based on more than the accuracy of the bridge asset chosen by Rivet. It’s the surrounding scenery, what you can see through the trees, the placement of the steps, all of which match the real location. None of these things match for the area surrounding the bridge being shown in the Southeastern route guess. The bridge in that guess also does not match the Rivet asset.
Yes the steps are a much more likely pointer to the location. I wouldn't expect bridges to be that precise unless they were particularly iconic. There could be 30 different variety of bridges and I wouldn't expect anyone to model each one individually. I am still hoping it isn't that location though!
This pretty much sums it all up. I have the Train Simulator version too and played that route lots of times. I don't think it is interesting without the steam part, except for the Ryde Pier.
Looking closely at the bottom of the steps I can see a fishplate joining rails which strongly suggests jointed track. This points towards the Isle of Wight as the Island Line has not been upgraded to continuous welded rail as the vast majority of the mainland railway network has. The sleepers also seem to be made out of wood not concrete due to the shape and size of them and which again points to a rural branch line. From this, I doubt it would be on the line suggested in Kent as that being a mainline, I would expect that to have been upgraded to more modern track long ago.
It's about thirty minutes from one end to the other...so it would be the shortest route to date I think (at least in terms of time)
If it turns out that the first DLC for TSW2 is a 9 mile long route with old tube stock, it would be a massive disappointment for me ... especially when compared to the prospect that Rivet could have done the first Swiss route for TSW.
It would probably have a high level of detail I imagine. There is obviously only one type of train though to drive, do they still have a shunter there? I find ECW got boring quickly and I suspect the new underground route will be similar. Certainly something like Crewe to Liverpool would have been more exciting. However, it will be very well done, I am sure of that and maybe they will surprise us with something unexpected!
