As we are all aware the railways require a lot of maintenance and workers are often seen along the lineside doing just that. It would be great if these people would spawn in the game in their hi-vis clothing so we as drivers have to sound the horn to them.
I think this would be a good idea. Being able to see the track maintenance workers out on the tracks would certainly be a good thing. Especially if it was tied into things like temporary speed restrictions or something like that. So good for any scenarios where you had to take into account if track, fencing or signalling repairs was being undertaken while you were still driving a train in service.
One of the CSX scenarios had this where there was a MOW crew that had some track closed as they were working on it right outside the tunnel. Seeing this implemented as a dynamic event would be pretty neat.
This same feature (really) spiced up what would otherwise be typical drives down the same roads in American Truck Simulator. With services mode, we do a lot of the same stuff over and over, so random events to spice it up would be very welcome. Especially if it had an option for how often these would happen, like truck sim has. (But random/changing weather would probably be a good stepping stone feature, as truck sim also does that...)
If DTG could change speed limits on tracks using random events...they could probably also edit other characteristics to happen in random events-like making track rougher than usual (general wear and tear), or more slippery than usual (leaves on track), or maybe even look different than usual (grease spill on tracks). There could be plenty of cool random happenings.
Well, there are already groups of folks wandering the tracks inside some stations in GWE; and although I suspect that they have "strayed" from the platforms they do seem random. However, it strikes me that asking for "frills" while also demanding more serious fixes and changes is a sad example of wanting to have cake and eat it, too. Perhaps every suggestion should be accompanied by an indication of its relative importance to the writer?
