    Hi everyone.

I just got this game a couple days ago, with the season pass while it was on sale on Steam. So far I've enjoyed it a lot, I was just wondering about a couple things. A lot of times, when I cast the spod rod, after it lands it seems to bounce back quite a distance, and I have to cast it again. Am I doing something wrong, or does it just do that? I was also wondering if there are plans to introduce some catfish specific baits and rigs, and maybe method leads and mixes going forward?

RE the spod , it's a bug. It does that and it's not something you are doing wrong. What I always do is to cast the spod at least 20 to 30 yards further than intended. If it jumps closer then is at my bait , if it doesn't jump then I just reel it in till it's at my bait.

RE the cats , nothing has been announced. But what I hope they do and what the game sorely needs is much stronger line. The big cats , especially at Bravo , St. Johns and Le Lac D'Or is more annoying than anything else. 25lb Line simply is not meant to deal with 100lb+ cats

Spod issue is a game bug - Only way around it is what Wikus does. I do find it is more prevalent on short range (15yrd ish) spodding than at distance though. Also like Wikus mentioned, the line to Cat size is getting a bit too wide but also lots of people on here test themselves on the least breaking strain V the biggest fish - Although that is probably something most look at after they have played and achieved most things the game has to offer in terms of boss fish. Weekend just gone with 25lb line I spent just under 55mins real time fighting Cheetah (100lb) on Bravo. I'm yet to fish Le Lac D'Or but looking to download this weekend, I can see some huge Cats (100lb+) are in their and I assume that 25lb line will be tested. I think baits in this game as a whole work on the Carp eating pretty much any bait the game has to offer as the game concept at the moment is still heavily Carp based. Being the lack of balance of Carp > Catfish > Other species then I assume the programming team wont be looking towards specialized baits anytime soon. As you have probably found its more the size of bait offered rather than type that catches the big Cats, tiger nuts 20mm being my fav for them. Hopefully the game does evolve with more species and a better balance of them where being a little more specific with tactics/baits matters a lot more.

The spod rod issue is something that we are aware of but have struggled to reproduce internally. Does it bounce back from the beginning or only after playing for a while?

We will be adding more equipment as time goes on, we can definitely look at including lines, baits and rigs that cater more towards the larger catfish.

Personally for me - Stephen, its not prevalent all the time and does seem to suddenly begin to happen mid game but once it does then its doesn't stop until I restart the swim/session. As I mentioned in my post above it seems to happen more at short distance casts but I have had it happen at distance as well. I generally see the line out meter go say 50 yards but then it drops well short of that in a double splash motion on-screen. It's like having the bait clip on but obviously its not (before anyone asks!). I cant say if it happens on the game as a whole or just on certain waters as I tend to favour particular waters like St Johns - Maybe someone else can add to that thought?

Exactly the same for me. It happens as soon as it hits the water. I can also add that it happens at all lakes. It will be fine and all of a sudden out of nowhere it starts , and once it starts it bounces every cast for the rest of that session.

Sometimes it happens as soon as it hits the water, you can hit the water at 50m, and suddenly the spod is 16m out. Then the next cast works perfetly and lands and stays where you want it. So as the other guys mentioned I've been casting it out further than it has to go, and it either jumps backs, or I reel it over the target. It can happen on the first cast, or any cast there after.

Traces and baits for the catfish would be great, it would be nice to have a fishy bait out for them specifically at the lakes where they get big, and two rods for carp. So far, the game has been really fun, I'll definitely be sticking around. I went Le Lac D'Or, and yeah the cat fish are monsters there, I've had 3 of them on, and not got any out. Naturally I was being a bit too greedy and went without getting stronger line, but I'll be fixing that soon. Still 25lb is very light for whatever monsters are lurking in that lake.

Something that would be great ( apart from stronger gear for the cats ) is baits that ONLY carp will take and baits that ONLY cats will take. That way you would be able to setup your box to target only the one of the 2 that you want to target. Mostly I don't like cats and would like to be able to only target carp , and would like an option like that. And when I do want to target the cats then go to the baits and strong line and gear and target them.

I think different baits that have a higher percentage of catching a species than others eventually would be a good thing. I think though you still need a bait where there is an outside chance of a surprise on the end the line as it can happen in the real world. I think its fair to say this game started as a carp based game with a few other species thrown in and probably still is as it stands today - I am one of those who would like to see it morph into a less specialised Carp game and embrace the multiple styles, water types and many species we have across Europe.

Re the spod, if you’re only casting between 10 & 20 yrds, push the rod forward whilst casting & it doesn’t jump back

We will have a look at introducing equipment that caters more towards the larger carp and cats taking into consideration possible baits, hooks and lines that can be used.

As time goes on we will be looking to expand the game so you never know which methods of fishing we might venture in to.

I have found a way to reproduce the issue with the spod rod bouncing back after casting and have let the development team know so that it can assist them when they are able to look into it.
