I also thought those skies rather bizarre, but some of the effects of sun streaming into the cab are marvelous

I agree, I had to put the visors down on arriving in Cumberland... It was a nice scenario.

Although rescue jobs have become very hackneyed in TS, this one struck me as worthwhile for the enhanced realism if nothing else. By the way, I also enjoyed increased fps rates in the midst of passing trains and cluttered spaces -- DTG is making steady headway in this department.

While driving near Clarksville, TN yesterday as twilight turned into darkness, I realized that I was looking at the same sky depicted in the scenario that inspired this thread. Moreover, I remembered that in the western U.S. this is called a Mackerel sky and in the mid-west a buttermilk sky; the latter once inspired Hoagy Carmichael to write a popular ballad titled Old Buttermilk Sky. Seems to me that the Brits did their research.

Why? I've seen pink, red and orange skies here at sunset.

Um, isn't the sun rising during this scenario? In either case, there's nothing wrong with the gradually developing sky colors.

It is, the point I was trying to make is that I've seen comparable skies and that they're not unrealistic from my own experiences.

This is really beside the point, but I just feel compelled to mention that this thread shares a title with one of the best TV police detective series ever made. I'm familiar with the U.S. version, but I know that a UK version also exists. Unfortunately, both have become very hard to find.

Some day (perhaps) I'll learn to research before I write. A search of Amazon's U.S. cite turned up a variety of possibilities, including both the British and American versions, and varying in price between $18 and well over $200. I'll take the low road -- thanks for leading me to look.
