Hi All, I've noticed something for a while and thought I'd wait to see if it's resolved in TSW2. Sadly it's not, and it seems to be a result of "Post Process Quality". If "Post Process Quality" is set to "Low" the issue is not there. Any setting above "Low" results in the issue being there. It's only when the train is in motion (typically 20 MPH+). I've found it on all scenarios so far that I've purchased in TSW2020 or TSW2. Anyone else notice this and perhaps know why? I'd be surprised if DTG have not seen it? 20200825135507_1 by JDMac87 posted Aug 25, 2020 at 2:02 PM
It (motion blur) can be turned off in the settings on PC, or via keyboard command ctrl-F2 on PC and (I think) on both xbox and ps4
Unreal Engine, as advanced as it is, unfortunately doesn't have rotational motion blur, which is why that happens. DTG do know about it and have mentioned it a few times on streams when people ask about it.
Thanks for the responses guys, so does motion blur get turned off at low PPQ? Edit: Also, was there a way to disable motion blur in TSW2020? Edit 2: Got it, for TSW2020 - https://steamcommunity.com/app/530070/discussions/0/3223871682611315358/ In the meantime, follow these instructions: Navigate to: Documents\My Games\TS2Prototype\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor Open Engine.ini in your favourite text editor Add these two lines to the bottom: [/script/engine.renderersettings] r.DefaultFeature.MotionBlur=False Save the file. Now, when you load the game, motion blur is disabled completely.
I think the time for blaming motion blur for the wheels looking awful will have to come to an end at some point. If Unreal engine doesn’t like the rotation of the wheels at high speed, another solution could be found. At high speed, the rotation of the wheels doesn’t need animating, it just needs a blurred texture over a stationary wheel asset. The centre of the wheel, if visible could still be animated. At a certain speed the rotating wheel is replaced by the fake rotation one. I’m sure not animating all those wheels going round would also give some performance enhancements. That’s just one idea for a solution, some brainy people can now go and implement it in the game, and it will look great. It can be done I’m sure.
Control + F2 toggles motion blur in both TSW2020 and TSW2, no need to go digging about in .ini files.
TheShotte, that's a much better option. I could see the option in the menus on TSW2 but not on TSW2020 menus. Thank you.
