Let's find that out in the hopefully new Cornwall Ultra DLC

I "bet" they cant do St Ives...as 60% of the track is sea facing, thus gorgeous. The Dev's would have to spend hours focusing on sea scapes in different weathers as well as line issues?

As there are more people living in London, London centric routes will probably appear!

    Yep I agree.
It’s such a shame that it probably won’t be looked into as there is such a demand for it.
Especially considering the DLC that could be added, I hope they consider it.

Although Rivet are doing the Island Line which includes a fairly lengthy stretch on Ryde Pier which is over the sea so it'll be interesting to see how they do the sea. This could also make this route easier to do if the techniques for modelling the sea have already been worked out.

I had forgotten about the Pier. Hopefully they can put their good work towards Cornwall, as the Island Line was their introduction into route building.

Don't they make Fishing games that include water?

To be honest, they made the sea with WSR back in TSW. So I guess it shouldn’t be too hard to upgrade the quality of the water. And also having looked at the photos that Rivet games teased us with, it looks pretty good what they have done. So I guess it’s not unfounded territory.

The only reason I mention the lack of water is its clearly missing from the San Fran route...there is just a barren pool of brown where water should be...so I assumed that they were scared/hindered by it. I may be wrong!

Depends. In some TSW routes water looked excellent MSB, GWR (rivers). But in some places in ECW the water is horrible.

Yes the ECW water at Newhaven is so brackish and muddy I am surprized anything can float in it!

Yes, we can certainly say that a Cornwall DLC would be fandoodletraintastic

Sea, trees, historic mine engine houses, impressive granite viaducts (with the stumps for the old wooden viaduct still beside), inclines, declines, sea, woods and trees...and a cathedral thrown in for free too.

Oh and trains like the Castle Classes 43's side by side at Truro Station with the Cathedral in the back ground. (Taken by me on Saturday)

The list is endless. The amount of special movements that occur like ESC, Railtours, etc are also very high. You could use a loco from WSR with some MK1s for a rail tour to Penzance and back, the Class 57s in the summer ran MK3 hailed services from Par to Exeter (not sure if it still runs) which could be added in, Freights are reasonably frequent, and most of the stations are frequently stopped at!
    It’s a complete No-Brainer.

Yes, they do have the advantage that a lot of the trains are already built...just need the 800 (yes in diesel form) and the 150's and they are well away.

Great thread and suggestions. I’d love it if DTG did something like this as it provides you with plenty of variety and nice little branch lines to drive down.

Much more interesting than driving 30-40 miles on a mainline from A to B all day in my opinion.

800's, 150's and the 43's shuttling around up and down...all good fun :)

A couple more of my "spamming" of the Cornwall thread. This weekend the Falmouth to Truro line had the excitement of a 158 rather than a 150- not sure what it had done to deserve such a nice thing.

Also for those who like shunting etc there is the network rail yard at Truro where trains do get stored when broken done occasionally..

Oh and of course just another 43 coming in to the station.

    Have a great week guys.

    Kernow bis Vyken.

How lovely, that the 158 got to visit Falmouth. And always good to see a 43, they are sadly getting rare...
Besides love your spamming photos. Keep it up ;)

Glad some appreciate the spam :)

I think the 43's have another 10 or so years shuttling between Bristol/Exeter and and Penzance!

I did miss a picture of a Pullman Railtour this weekend unfortunately.

Always loving the Spam Dave hahaha.
I have to say, that if they did add Cornwall, they would definitely have to add the DLC from WSR with MK1s for Railtours. Castle sets are a must too. Such an iconic Cornish sight to see.
I am so glad to see that there is so much interest in the route.

There’s only one way to stop this alleged ‘spam’ and that’s for DTG to make the Cornwall magic come to life in the game. It’s got to be a front runner for an ‘in planning’ appearance on the roadmap soon, I’d say.

I have limited opportunity to take photos on the mainline...

So I agree this one is spam. The City of Derby pulling out of East Wheal Rose.

It’s a real shame that the CrossCountry HSTs aren’t running as much anymore. I remember spending quite a bit of time on them down there last year just dashing between Liskeard and Exeter. Was a great day out.
I was hoping that these would be the basic starting DLC to the route if it was created as they were quite ratty and made some decent noise haha.

Before they've also not visited that line continuously [CC] since 5 years 220/1 have already been dominating

The CC 43's only come down west when there is a threat of hightide and a storm...as the 220/1 dont like the seawater splash from the Dawlish sea wall.

Nice scenery. I'd like this. Plus there are both freight and passenger operations. I would like to see the Class 57 in the game.

Would love to see this too, could look stunning in TSW..

Pacers were no strangers to Cornwall as there were a batch of them in the 80's in chocolate and cream livery named Skippers replacing the class 118's. They were not successful in Devon and Cornwall due to the tight curves, the ride was considered appalling and they suffered flange wear so they were sent up north to Newton Heath and Heaton depots and a motley collection of first generation DMU's were sent to Laira where they worked until the early/mid 90's when enough class 150's and 153's could be cascaded to the south west.

Personally I would prefer to see this route with a class 22, 35, 42, 52 and 118 and 122 but I would settle for a modern recreation!

I'd love to see a Cornish route.

If not the mainline then a focus on freight workings around St Blazey. However my real preference would be the 1980s when Class 50s held sway on both express and local services. Even better still when the Squealers... Sorry "Skippers" (aka Class 142 'Pacers') were BRIEFLY introduced, but maybe flange wheel squeal would be toooo much

HSTs Rock! I would like to have that balance between local passenger and Higher Speed services which Cornwall can provide; HSTs run the more express services whilst Class 150s work the local stuff with class 158s in the middle! It’s just perfect!

I would love to see this route too. I don't think Bodmin & Wenford Railway has been mention as another possible line.

We also need 08645 for a Cornish route.

Even if it didn’t include the whole branch, I wouldn’t mind a Class 08 or Class 47 just sat at Bodmin Parkway with a few wagons on the timetable mode just for me to go and shunt with.
    This being all theoretical haha.

I'd love this! A lot of my childhood holidays involved taking the train down to Cornwall, I think it's where my love for the 253 came from.

So now DTG are finding their feet with getting third parties to create content for TSW, I wonder what the chances are of Just Trains using their experience and reference materials for their excellent TS pack to get something going in TSW2?

Please don't stop the spam. Your photos are gorgeous, and make me miss being able to make the trips myself! :)

Just my weekly bumping of the Cornwall thread on the hope that someone at DGT went on holiday to Cornwall by train.

Here is a question to the group....

Why don't we see the odd Colas/Network Rail/German equivalent track fixing train as seen parked up in a Truro siding this weekend as we shuttle about on the lines? PXL_20201017_080906352.jpg PXL_20201017_081537439.jpg PXL_20201017_083110991.jpg

Ah. Right. That is a Tamper. It uses its spikes on the under frame to dig into the Ballast in between each sleeper and then vibrate them to create a better Top and Line for the track.
You will see them around in Cornwall, but they are not as frequent as you think because they will be hidden in other sidings/depots like Exeter or Newton Abbot maybe.
They also only work on Engineering Possessions so they normally only move about at night.
