As you may or may not know DTG is toying with the idea of joining these two routes to make one single route. The reason that I am posting this is for them to see that the comunity really wants to see this happen so they don't give up on it. Specially if you are a freight fan this will allow you to do longer German freight services from Finnentrop all the way up to Wuppertal. This is how the new route will look: If you support this idea please like and comment so DTG knows just how badly we want this. Thanks, have a great day =).
I’d like to see this happen, but as it’s not on the roadmap, I’m not sure the company is actively looking at merging the routes. At least not publicly.
Well, if enough of us support this, it could get onto the roadmap. And that they can listen and change their plans according to what players want they proved with including preserved routes in the scenario planner. Also, I'm singing this song since the time both routes came out. (NEC/LIRR too, but that's over - for now ) These are two great routes that, preserved or not, should get some more love in the future. And it would be great to be able to use them together. This would also help people that like longer routes, and the ones like me that just want more to do on any single map. So, fully supported! I don't really subscribe to the notion that there need to be many different routes first before one can think of extensions or merges. Please people, sign this one. Tell them that this is something (in general and also for future maps) that we want.
I would like this to happen. There would need to be some thought put in to how it was done and how it would sell. If they combined the two and sold it as a separate full route, I wouldn’t be prepared to pay full price for it, with already owning both originals, just to get some extended services. I also wouldn’t want them to replace my existing separate routes with a combined version (which may remove a lot of the current timetable content to enable a new combined timetable) and still have to pay for it (DTG still have to make money from combining the routes). I’m sure other players would have their own thoughts on how it was to be achieved and what they would gain, lose, or have to pay for, and there would be many different permutations of what people would find acceptable. Only one method of combining the routes could be implemented and it may not satisfy everyone who would want to buy their idea of an acceptable combination. This may result in very poor sales. This would be the obstacle to combining two current routes as I see it.
It probably would need to be a new route entry (though in the future, I'd prosose doing new dlc containing existing stations as an extension from te get-go). And while all the assets and trains already exist I imagine that merging them will be a little more work than we think. Also, a new timetable would need to be created. So I WOULD be willing to pay extra for that, not full price, but maybe €10?
Also, they could bundle the 2dlc and the merge-dlc for players that don't have them yet at a discount. Great way to selling more of your existing stuff, don't you think?
Do you have a source for this piece of information? I remember a stream a few days before release where they said it would be possible to link routes, but would need a rework of the timetable services or something like that. Are they really considering this now? Having said that, I fully support this merger!
They haven't said anything about it appart what they said on the stream. However, they did say it was something that was definately doable and that it would not require a massive ammount of work. That is why I thought that maybe we can remind them of how much we want to see this happen so that maybe it makes it into the roadmap.
If I recall a livestream, I thought they said that extensions were easier in comparison to joining two separate routes. Please correct me if I’m mistaken.
That is way too much. I fully support that, too. I don't care. It didn't sound like it would be too much work, definitely less than a new route. If we don't come together and tell them that we want that, they'll just release dlc after dlc that share station/end points, but can't be used together next to a few extensions. That must not happen. Some want longer routes, some networks, some just more to do, some more service layers, some more train variety on a route. Merging routes is the solution to all of this (to a degree).
You are completely right. However, in this case, as both routes have already been completed it is easier to join both of them than to create an entire extension from scratch.
defo be up for this,hagen-wuppertal is one of the few dlcs i dont have because of price for 15 miles of track.yes i know it comes with extra services but still to short for the price.
Firstly, it's 31+11=42km, about 25 miles. Secondly, driving the S-Bahn with lots of stops takes longer on a shorter route, obviously. Thirdly, isn't that the best argument FOR a merge? Also, there WILL be a sale at some point. Furthermore: Btw, is your argument that you are against a merger because you don't own it because you deem it too short?
Well, I'd like something like that: https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=1935183109 for TSW2 and with comprehensive timetable service mode (sorry, couldn't find the Köln one, Hamburg will do as an example). And since there will not be an editor, we need this dev-side.
Thumbs up. If I can add, at some point in future route between FFM and Koblenz, Koblenz and Köln with a long term option to join those routes all together with Schnellfahrstrecke to create one monstrous route Just one crazy idea
I'd love to see this and would pay €60 for the 2 routes to be merged and all rolling stock and timetabels combined. Would be an amazing experience.
Duly noted. Just to set your expectations however, there is currently no plan of any kind for this merger to take place.
But that would only work for freight trains. With passenger trains you always have to change trains in Hagen if you want to travel from Wuppertal to Finnentrop. If you do something like that, it should also be passable by passenger and freight trains.
Well, then make one. Please? Oh, and thanks for noticing It is hereby decreed that the RE13 will change into the RE16 at Hagen and vice versa. Also, there's an IC going from Wuppertal to Finnentrop via Hagen from now on. Because I said so. I'm at least as qualified as Scheuer. You know, there's something like too much realism. It's still a game.
Thanks for the response, I just wanted the DTG team to be aware that the comunity would like to see this.
I am aware of this and I know is not the perfect route to merge but as it is the only one available we may as well enjoy some longer freight journeys.
Then let's better decide that the RRO will be extended to Mönchengladbach and thus the S8 line will be complete and the RE 13 line longer.
On a powerful computer a track network with loading more routes "soft merged" with individual scenario service could maybe a possibility. Worth the money.
I would support this route being merged. New to TSW2 and never having played TSW, future for TSW2 looks promising I must say
So confused. Firstly, route size has nothing to do with computing power since there are only a few environment tiles loaded at any time anyway. Then the next ones are streamed from your disk and loaded and the old ones unloaded. What do you mean with "soft merger"? I can only think of one way merging two maps into one. (Thinking in terms of the TS editor, of course, since there won't be one for TSW) "Scenario service" means scenario or timetable service mode? I agree.
Merged routes is definitely something that would make me more likely to get a route in future, it's frustrating to have significant mileage of track, close to each other but not be able to link them together. This, and things like a Cologne to Duisburg via Dusseldorf route that can be combined with the existing respective routes would be a quick purchase for me.
CC Johnson when every dlc adds new timetables, there're services across the track network which is able to be driven seamless, would be nice. Even if you can ride within some dlc without interruption and having the timetables only inside 1 route would be nice. But where the Cargo train come from and where they go to.... It expands automatically. But first... Merge this, maybe enable network like driving that's the way to go.
It needs to make financial sense for this to happen, if they sell the two routes 30€ each for x mileage than they would have no reason to merge the two togheter if it requires more work and offers lower profit margins. And we are lucky if the cost would be just route 1 + route 2, considering the added work needed to merge the two togheter.
What I said (or meant ): €10-15 ontop of the cost of the contained routes (2x€30), maybe at a discount when someone doesn't already have them. And for the future it would make sense if we try to convince them that extenions will be the better way to go than stand alone routes when there's already another route with the same station.
Oh sorry I didn't understand what you tried to say... anyway yes I agree, extensions is the better way going forwards... having all this routes which could potentially be connected toghter is not ideal
