Since all dovetail games focus on is Train Sim World 2, can we at least get the update for train simulator 2021?? Please and thanks.
The PR focus may well be, but they have different dev teams from what I understand, so I'm sure someone is focussing on things other than TSW, even if it is on fish rather then TSx
Earlier this summer, either Matt or Sam said there will be an update to TS2021. It usually isn't super hyped up, and with the virus and the release of TSW 2, I would expect it sometime in October.
DTG has 3 separate teams one working on TSW2020 another working on TSW2 and another working on TS2020 but as TSW2 is maybe replacing TSW2020 any future development may have already stopped.
You allude to DTG being split into 3 distinct dev teams? I was under the impression that 98% of the DTG workforce were working on TSWX.
The newest project always gets the bulk of the dev time, that doesn't mean the other teams cease to exist... As it stands, TSW is what is making DTG money, and companies will usually focus on what makes them money
Are you just speculating or have you heard this from the horse's mouth? And how do you know that TSW is what is making them money?
Speculating with regards to their work streams. I don't work for DTG or spy on their offices, even if they are only about a mile from where I live I heard it somewhere on a different post, but it makes sense that the newest DLC are selling and making more money than ten year old DLC
Here are the Steam Database for Trainsim World 2020 and Train simulator 2020 should give you an idea which is the most popular etc. https://steamdb.info/app/530070/graphs/ https://steamdb.info/app/24010/graphs/
That doesn't mean those players are making them money. Willing to bet there was a spike in TSx players last Tuesday, but that would be because AP released a new product... no new money for DTG necessarily
TSW2 isn't hitting the same high's that TS got back in 2014. TS2015 3,821: all-time peak 6 years ago 973: players right now Compared with: TSW2 3,086: all-time peak about 16 hours ago 1,676: players right now People must have been really excited for TS2015. More so than for TSW2. I'll say it again - if DTG can enhance TS up to TSW graphical standards, the game is back on.
Just wondering: How many TSers migrated to TSW and stayed there? How many TSers migrated to TSW and came back to TS? How many TSWers migrated to TS and stayed there? How many TSWers migrated to TS and went back to TSW? Obviously some will have and use both, but everyone will have a preference between either. Be interesting to know how that balances out.
I'd be interested to see what that flow looks like. I can only answer for myself, but literally 15 minutes into TSW2, I got fed up with the inflated aspect ratio (it's like wearing s/wimming goggles) and went back to TS. I tried, again. At least I've supported DTG financially again, and in turn, I'm looking after the guys that hold TS. What a carry on.
I do like the graphics of TSW but mostly play TS. Usually, we would hear about the next edition of TS20xx by around early-mid September. Last summer, I recall hearing of TS20xx around August. It would really be great if the TSW graphics were in TS.
Train Simulator's all-time peak was 3821, which it reached six years ago, five years after it launched. TSW2 reached 3086, quite close to TS' 3821, on its first day. It's a safe bet that TSW2 is more popular than TS ever was... They already said on the stream that something for TS was coming. They might have said it was 'big' but I can't remember.
As I understand it, there is no editor for scenarios (timetables) or routes in TSW, so I'm just not interested in it. What has kept me returning to TS20xx is that if I can create scenarios and edit scenarios, so if I get the latest thing from Armstrong Powerhouse, I can edit that loco into anything I want, rather than being stuck with just what I was given. Until TSW has an editor, it's a 'nope, never' from me.
TSxxxx was never on Console from Kuju days in 2007, how on this earth can you make a comparison on its popularity, just because TSW2 is available now on XBox and Playstation doesn't make it more popular at all, the only thing going for it is the enhanced graphics. Don't forget that many of us play offline so this Steam data is totally unpredictable. I bet that thousands of old TS20 players, myself included, have had enough now of the DTG rhetoric on TSW over the last few years being treated with contempt, and gone back to TS because it's a far superior game across the board. With its thousands of locomotive soundpacks and repaints, hundreds of freeware routes from across the world, including Japan, Russia and South Africa, Steam locomotives from most Continents by the score, narrow gauge railways (with appropriate locos and rolling stock) from Russia, Europe and North America, etc, etc. And for us mature players no running round collecting silly hard hats and fixing broken fences to keep us childishly amused, no track and lineside restrictions whatsoever on where we can drive our trains, and move about walking/running. We can expand our layouts manually, delete and place extra scenery objects with impunity, we can change trackside points and junctions on the press of a button across any route, we have rain and thunderstorms, snow, fog, correct signalling and OHLE across nearly all layouts and have 3rd party assets by the millions collected over the last 13 years. We have a thriving community across many forums worldwide with players with all sorts of expertise, railway knowledge/experience and working practices, you go and tell the Germans, Russians, other Europeans and North American players that TSW2 is more popular than TS ever was and see what reaction you get, I bet your safe bet will be blown right out of the water!!!! Cheerio.
The next station is Bitterville, where this train will terminate. I'm not even going to bother replying to this ****show, mostly because I'm not interested in arguing with the living embodiment of narrow-mindedness, but also because your points are so flawed that me responding to them would be a disservice to my own sanity.
Many people care deeply about TS, it isn't a flitting fancy. I don't see why there is an issue there, or why anyone needs calling out on it.
I don't think this is the case at all... TSW has some things put in place on several locos that are not in place in TSx, but the biggest advantage for it right now is that all the scenarios work (more or less) out of the box without you having to search thirteen different websites for obscure repaints you probably don't care about, or have to F2 past the error but then don't get the full experience The third party element of TSx is what puts many people off it, and undoubtedly TSW gives a better "pick it up and run" experience than anything the third parties do for TSx
The good thing about TS20xx is the 3rd party community, mod packs to enhance train physics and sounds, and route creation. There are more than likely, more modifications that can be made in TS20xx that cannot be performed in the TSW series just yet. I don't have TSW2 but from my understanding, there were a few 3rd party reskins and weathering packs available for TSW and TSW2 appears to have a livery editor where you can make reskins within the simulator and a scenario editor to edit scenarios. I am not sure if more features will be released for TSW2, or would they arrive in the next edition of the TSW series.
Presumably you mean "field of view"? The aspect ratio for both games should just match your monitor I'd have thought.
Cool. I play TSW, TSW2 and TS20XX! I wonder what will come with the new update? The LNER Class 43 HST Remastered?
Wasn't this thread supposed to be about TS2021? Seems to have morphed into a debate about TSW V TS? Anywho, I'd be pleased to see any updates to the old girl, but getting TSW style graphics in TS20xx? I would have thought highly unlikely! There would be a moohassive amount of work to bring it up to DX11.... I would like very much to see some long-standing bugs fixed in TS even something like moving the sounds of the points/switches to their correct position, sorting signal bugs out, etc etc little things go a long way imo.
True, it may not be feasible to bring TS up to TSW graphics quality. If that is not possible, I really hope TS20xx can be improved in the following areas, Unique sounds for locomtives/rolling stock Save states being able to load achievements throughout runs successfully, and not derailing the train at random Improve the efficiency in which objects are loaded within range Improve the core of the game to better utilize PC hardware
They have said fixes are still to be announced nearer the time, make of that what you will, I just hope they've fixed the memory allocation problem, and of course a whole host of other things too.. Yes.
No, the new game BUNDLE is the three routes (four with the deluxe pack) but the "free update" is only the core game engine
No, you can buy the bundle... probably £24.99 for the three route version. Don't know about the deluxe
