Just a little note. The DTG headquartres is cornered by three Southeastern stations. So the expectation of the sound quality for these EMUs is higher. You can buy from AP if DTG thinks it is easier. But the Class 375 cannot be reusing the sounds from ECW. This is TSW2 and TSW2 means upgrades. The Talent 2 got a sound overhall for SKA, the Electrostar needs a sound overhall for SEHS. Like I said, the DTG HQ is cornered by three SE stations. So DTG has a lot of Electrostars to get sounds from. I recently implemented recorded sounds for the Class 377/4 and it significantly increased the sound quality for the train, and made the whole DLC much more playable. I only set aside an afternoon to go and get those sounds, and I travelled 30 miles to get them. DTG is lucky that they have multiple Electrostar-served stations in the area. The Class 465 Metcam variants are also close to DTG. So, if DTG records it themselves or buys it from AP, good show. If it's synthesised, the criticism is gonna rocket through the roof and into space. So to reiterate, there's little excuse for bad sound quality on the Electrostar 375s and 465s.
I think they'll reuse sounds like they always do with the train's. But this could open a possibility to record the trains if southeastern is up for it
Actual recordings will always be better (providing they are high quality) as it’s the real thing. I hope they do record true sounds.
This is a weird thing to post tbh. Including a map of an office where people at DTG work in this post is weird, but sure, it's info anyone could find so whatever. But who at DTG is going to read this? What are they supposed to think? If you worked there would you read this as friendly encouragement or a preemptive complaint? Suggestions are one thing, what you have written is an expectation, in fact beyond that it is more like a warning, and to me it's just an incredibly obnoxious way to communicate.
I’d like to hear an example of these great sounds you have implemented. I suggest uploading a video. Looking forward to it.
His sounds are nice on the 377. But it would really help if the forums file size was larger. The sound mod does exist but it would really be helpful to upload a video. (The mod does exist)
It’s okay. No need to change them on my account. I can’t use them anyway because I’m on PS4, I was just curious as to what the sounds were like, it being a user mod that I have no access to trying out myself.
To be honest, the sounds don't sound that much more realistic. I'd even go as far as saying they sound slightly faker than DTG's. I do like the reskinned interiors though, even if they're completely fake.
Sounds fake... And this is the problem, sounds for something that changes frequently can be hard to generate let alone record I'm sure between the javelins, electrostars and networkers theres a heck of a lot of sounds to try to obtain and then reproduce in all the circumstances possible so whilst it's easy to come on here and threaten a company with (whatever it is you're actually trying to make in your point which has been lost in a haze of bullying nonsense) AP manage it by taking very detailed recordings with actual locos and high quality mics strapped to specific locations on the locos or units. Standing on the platform at Chatham with a mobile mic isn't going to do that for you That said, not too far (ie within an hour's drive) from DTG's offices are at least five SouthEastern depots so if they can get agreement with SE they should be able to better your requirements
Ok, your motor sounds are fine, but the track sounds are awful. The first lot (which is what I turned off after earlier) are too clipped then up until the end of the full throttle section they've got too much echo and reverb. It's like you recorded them on an early iphone in a tunnel
As I said, motor sounds are fine, the whine, the build up of the motors and the fade outs Very little track running noise, clipped joint sounds, but then also echoing is what I got from what I listened to
Thanks for the post, Again, the track sounds seem clipped, as in it's like someone is on a piano and hitting the stay peddle all the time. There are a couple of joint sounds in there which reverb on for a short period, but the doubles especially don't seem to run into each other. If I have time tomorrow I'll go up to Gillingham depot and see if I can get a gander at it and compare...
Okie dokie. Well I will do my best to investigate and iron out all of these problems then. And when it's finished, which might not be today (because I'm currently implementing a recorded horn for the Class 166 at the same time, as well as making sure the new door sounds are right for both the 166 and 377... which I shall also share right here with you for feedback https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...65508373/Desktop_2020.10.21_-_18.35.10.02.mp4 ).
https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...32208946/Desktop_2020.10.21_-_18.16.41.01.mp4 Class 377 door sounds from the inside and doors alone.
I live in SE Kent, most of the trains here are Electrostars, so over the years I know how they sound. The initial whine is badly looped, almost like the old TS2013 Class 377. There is also no deeper whine as the train reaches about 20mph (one that sounds a bit like a Mark 3 EMU). The closing sounds also sound like a different train's altogether. They remind me of the original Class 390 for Train Simulator. I haven't noticed the track sounds as much as others but they don't sound very good from what I've heard.
If you want to pop on Discord then I can show you all my recordings from Kent too. Because that's where my recordings also come from. They come from Ashford International and the surrounding lines. And if you do use electrostars regularly, then you know the original audio from TSW is nowhere near accurate to the real thing
And I'm also damned if this is a Class 390. I guess it is because it says 390 on the front of it. And I guess these must be Class 390 closing sounds too https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...87146290/Desktop_2020.10.21_-_18.16.41.01.mp4
And by the way the track sounds are recorded from 375807 And here's a little video to show you that my work in progress has made progression https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...39645511/Desktop_2020.10.21_-_18.37.25.03.mp4
And here's that running motor sound you said wasn't in the game at 20mph (the one that sounds like a Mk3 EMU) https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachme...8994770068045834/S_Class377_Running_20mph.wav So there's that. You see I do know these things, my area is served by Electrostars too.
And it's still work in progress too. There are lots of things I would love to add. But without the TSW editor and a copy of Simugraph, these ambitions simply cannot possibly be added.
Surprised someone's getting uber defensive about their own work when they slated someone else's without concern...
Except my work is free. So if you want to talk about defensive, why don't you make some freeware. And then I'll tell you that the job you've done is really bad even though you haven't finished it.
Haven't said your work is "really bad" but then you did come into this post and have a go at other people about their work, freeware or not you published it
✌ People asked for it. And also expecting better from the 3rd Train Simulator isn't really what you're trying to describe as harassment. The 377 in TSW is unrealistic. The model even has faults with the exterior cab curvature, the lighting is lazy, the sounds are ancient and incomplete, the AWS looping was awful. Not only that. They got the door sounds wrong on the BR 423. So you can be a DTG patriot if you so wish. But I have a right to express my opinions regardless of how harsh they may be, and DTG should really learn from the mistakes made with the 377/4. Do you not agree?
I have absolutely no idea why you're getting so defensive about this. You don't have to prove that your recordings are actually real. They may well be, but it doesn't change that, once added to TSW, they don't sound that good. That said, how realistic your sound mod is has no effect on me in any way. I literally don't care, so do yourself a favour and calm down.
This discussion has devolved so far that it literally has just become a bullying circle. So let's just call it quits. My mod exists if you want to use it or not. And let's just all be fwenz
A bullying circle, really? If you think minor criticism of a mod counts as bullying, you are sorely mistaken.
Since when criticizing a sound mod is bullying. The whole point of criticism is so that it can be improved. It's not a bad thing. If you can't handle criticism then you shouldn't be making things
No amount of sound recordings or mods will make the 377 sound good, simply because of the way sounds have been set up for it, internally within the editor. There's nothing you can do with the motor sounds as there's only one recording which is the looped 'whine'. Everything else is controlled internally via software.
