We are all now familiar with the upcoming Class 313 EMU for ECW on the preserved collection. I would like to suggest the following as add ons for other preserved collection routes based on their reflected eras. GWE Class 59/0 & 59/1 Locomotive and wagons Class 165 DMU Class 180 DMU Branches to Greenford, Brentford, Colnbrook, Windsor, Bourne End/Marlow and Henley Basingstoke branch North Downs line to Gatwick Airport WSR Class 14 Locomotive Class 35 Locomotive Class 42 Locomotive NTP Class 25 Locomotive Class 123 DMU Class 124 DMU Class 128 Parcels DMU Class 141 Pacer DMU Branch to Bury Bolton Street with Class 504 EMU TVL Class 56 Locomotive Class 142 Pacer DMU Class 143 Pacer DMU Class 150/2 Sprinter DMU ECW Class 33/1 Locomotive Class 33/2 Locomotive Class 73 Locomotive Class 171 DMU Lewes to Gatwick Airport or London Victoria Eastbourne to Hastings Brighton to Gatwick Airport or London Victoria West Coastway line to Southampton, Portsmouth Harbour,Bognor Regis and Littlehampton TSW2 add ons Island Line Class 03 Shunter and stock Class 05 Shunter Class 485 and 486 EMUs Isle of Wight Steam Railway HS1 Class 92 Locomotive and stock
Class 59 can be used on ECW too. Seen more Class 59s on average in comparison to Class 66s. But it is about 60-40. Class 57 could be added to GWE for Sleepers and Railtours from Southall to Paddington ECS, then up to Reading and then back later during the day, and then another ECS to Southall from Paddington. ECW would be great with a Class 73, as they run as Driver Training, RHTT services, and they send them down to St Leonard’s Engineering for overhaul and servicing. Class 33/2 would be nice I guess, but in the era that the route is set they are only preserved; 4 preserved and 8 scrapped. Would also love to see a Class 50 for WSR.
You could make Brighton to Victoria with Lewes to Keymer Junction as one whole route. It would make sense as thats where the freight goes and also it would mean that the Triangle is completed. It has so many potential opportunities for the Brighton Mainline: Class 455, Class 700, Class 73, Class 59, Class 387, Class 165/166 for Gatwick to Redhill. It’s a list with so many possibilities. There are loads of freight terminals, depots and interesting movements for freight/specials like RHTT and driver training. It’s a no-brainer.
You could potentially include Marshlink and have the whole line between Eastbourne and Ashford which would be just over 42 miles. The Ashford end of the line would offer a modern, unelectrified brachline which we've not had yet in TSW. For West Somerset, you could also have the class 115 DMU as I think they have one in real life.
