One of my friends is interested in picking up TSW2. He owns a playstation, I'm on PC. I told him that if he'd buy TSW2020, he'd also get these routes in TSW2. That's how it works on PC, but I just want to double check if it's that simple on playstation as well. So, can he simply buy both games and have the routes that come with TSW2020 by default, added to his TSW2, or is there something he needs to know? I know nothing about playstations, but I don't want to give my friend any misinformation. :P
The advice I've seen is that if you buy the TSW2020 DLC then you get the license for the same in preserved collection on TSW2. I don't know if you need the core game (ie TSW2020 itself) but you could always try that out. Buy a TSW2020 DLC and you should get it replicated in TSW2
The reason I was recommending TSW2020 is because it gets you 4 routes for the price of one. Just wanted to make sure it's as simple as just buying both games, to get preserved collection working.
Your right, except for NEC, because it won't the be part of the preserved collection. As an additional hint, if he owns TSW2020 and thinks about buying additional dlc content from TSW2020 to use it in TSW2, he should check the Psn Store for discounts for the TSW2020 DLC and and buy those and not the same DLC for TSW2.
NEC isn't part of any of the TSW2020 editions, so that's safe. I didn't realize TSW2020 DLC could have a lower price tag than the TSW2 DLC version. I'll warn him for that. Thanks for your help!
Ah sorry, you're talking about the bundle rather than the game. Of course if you buy the bundle you get the four DLC and then yes you will get those on TSW2 also
It is correct that any DLC purchased on TSW2020 will carry over to TSW2 as part of the preserved collection regardless of when you purchase it (excluding the NEC and all associated locos), however you will need the core games. If you purchase any DLC on TSW2 but then want to play it on TSW2020 you would need to purchase that content again for TSW2020. The preserved collection works the same way on PlayStation as it does on PC and Xbox.
Does that mean NEC won't be coming to the preserved collection? Can anyone tell me why? Is it a licencing issue?
Because it was badly and inefficiently built and it would take too long to rebuild to today's standards and therefore they're not doing it
