I've been thinking on this for a while... the Nasa railroad might make a good TSW DLC, it's a relatively small line. Only requires one locomotive model, and has/had a set variety of typical tasks (Helium runs, Titan rocket booster interchanges, loading and unloading shuttle rocket booster segments) that'd make scenario development relatively straight forward. For those who aren't versed with the Nasa railroad. If anybody from dovetail actually considers this, reach out. I consider myself well versed in the ins and outs of this rail line and may be able to help woth the research element.
I'm also a big fan of the space program, especially when it comes to SpaceX, with their reusable and landable Falcon 9 rockets. So I definitly support this route suggestion. If DTG doesn't realize the project, maybe a third party developer would do it in the future. A few weeks ago I did a NASA livery for the GE4400, which in reality doesn't exist, because they only use three SW1500 switcher locos. But I think it's a good time to share it.
The NASA RR is a very interesting little railroad. DTG would probably pass on it, but it would be great if a third party could develop this line.
This sounds cool. The SW1500 Switchers could be fun to operate, switching cars with rocket parts and fuel tanks. I'm in.
I intend to build the complete Florida East Coast Railway, If no one gets to it before me. I would add the NASA trackage as one of the FEC's customers starting as it does in real life at the transfer yard around Mims, just north of Titusville. The Florida East Coast Railway Society has many members that work at NASA so we have visited the facilities for the NASA Railroad and the Air Force as part of at least two annual FECRS conventions so far. The NASA Railroad may not offer the long distance haul, but does have some interesting yard work. Including it with the FEC route might offer the best of both worlds. Great job on the NASA locomotive! I am a realist who prefers when one mile actually measures one mile on a track layout; but it can be fun when talented people create some interesting locomotives and rolling stock like this which doesn't exist (yet) in real life.
