Yup, they really need to start thinking about a route extension because sometimes I feel like doing a 2 hour service and it is really a shame that we cannot do that at the moment even though some German routes are really close to each other.
They haven't tried to make very long routes due to the fact that they just want to make a profit and wouldn't have the time to do new long routes. I think extensions would be a perfect solution to get longer "full line" routes. They don't want to do that because they want to make new routes in different countries around the world, well I guess if you consider The United States, The United Kingdom and Germany different countries that are not already in tsw. I would love extensions hopefully down the line because most tsw routes never feel complete and it's odd that the german routes aren't really connected if their so close to each other
Really good points you make there. I also think they are not interested in doing extensions due to the fact that they are trying to make more new and different routes that will bring more variety to the game. However, as you well said in your post, German routes are often so close to each other that a merger makes perfect sense.
I think Rhur Sieg Nord and Rhein-Rhur Osten will be merged eventually at some point. Just gonna have to wait and see
Yes, there are no passenger services that go from one side of the route to the other without changing trains at Hagen. However, with the scenario designer you can just design your own passenger service that runs the full extent of the route.
I 100% support this as it will be a first for TSW and it will make the game more interesting and diverse.
I like this. I would like to see them go one further than they did in Train Simulator 2021, where you needed the route released first to then add on to it, instead it would be cool if the game detected you own both and merged them into one or you would be allowed to own either of the two and still run it separately. (for example in TS2021 you needed Bristol to Cardiff first to get Cardiff - Swansea but it would be nice that you could in TSW2 instead just have Cardiff - Swansea if you so wished). Then it would be more of a modular feel to the individual routes which can be joined together. Since they have stated that they won't be doing route extensions for some time as Train Sim World 2 doesn't have much routes available yet, maybe they will have the time to develop the technology to do this.
They should bring the entire Ruhrgebiet together. Hagen-Dortmund Hbf Hagen-Bochum Hbf Bochum Hbf-Dortmund Hbf Wuppertal Hbf-Köln Hbf via Solingen Wuppertal Hbf-Düsseldorf Hbf Duisburg Hbf-Köln Hbf Düsseldorf Hbf-Solingen Hbf Wuppertal Hbf-Essen Hbf for the S9 Essen Steele Ost-Hattingen Mitte for S3 Mülheim Styrum-Oberhausen Hbf
That would be the ideal direction for them to go. That way they can sell both routes separately and if you happen to own both then you can enjoy the merge. That not only allows more people to buy both routes on their own but also gives an incentive for owning both.
I feel like this won't happen joined up (as separate routes with some joined up its possible), the amount of memory required to run service mode with all these (the way DTG has coded it) would probably be insane!
The number of routes or the length of them isn't what impacts memory. How many trains or lines are in shot or just upcoming are what affects them
Dortmund to Solingen are only 97,5 Kilometer and we have already Bochum Hbf to Duisburg Hbf as Route, so we can expended Bochum Hbf to Dortmund Hbf, and Duisburg Hbf to Solingen Hbf. So we have also the RE1, RE6 and RE11 between Dortmund and Düsseldorf included
Hello Completely agree for a merger of the German lines as well as for the LGV med between Marseille and Lyon because takes pleasure in driving by TGV on TSW unlike the TS2020
I would love in hrr, line s1 and s3 extended. S3 could easily be extended. Since it's pretty much a high speed route, it get's done so quickly that it doesn't feel complete and that route has so much potential
Let's see if they get the message and hopefully when all preserved collection is finished the preserved team may find a spot for this merger.
In the end all we can do is hope. I just think is such a wasted opportunity to create two routes that are together in real life and not merge them.
Indeed it would. Just imagine being able to drive for almost 100km without loading screens on the loco of your choice. Truly amazing.
well if this happens judging by the support of this thread we could see more things like this. mabye a LIRR and NEC collab since we are not getting amtrak for a while
I really don't see the point of combining LIRR and nec since they're only together for a short period of time before Amtrak heads to the Bronx and the LIRR goes through Queens. It wouldn't be worth it in my opinion
It could while right now it has not came it could I do agree it may not happen but we can hope it will
That would be great, once they create the merging tools doing another merger should be relatively easy.
It would also had so much more to Hagen! I remember I was so sad when I realized in TSW when I owned both routes it wasn't spawning AI for the other routes at Hagen...
Indeed it would, I too was sad when I realized both routes shared Hagen but they were still independent routes. I just couldn't understand why they didn't merge them.
The ICE does run between Wuppertal and Hagen so maybe if the merger comes to live they will include some services. (At least AI)
No the only expansion we need is Hagen to Dortmund and Wuppertal to Düsseldorf to drive Passenger trains, or if ICE and IC then via Solingen to Köln Hbf
