ARuscoe... think its gonna take a while for me to get my head around that!!! Onto another question... I'm cooking on gas now(!!!) & downloaded the SLANCS add on... I've installed it, run the .bat file, do i still need to clear the cache (not that I know what its for, just that I'm told to do it from time to time!!!)??? Thanks again Eric
I've never cleared the cache... but then I only install stuff with TSx closed out If you find there are errors in the route then consider it as a first step but as I say, never done it
I've just d/loaded the UKTS freeware carriage & wagon packs... I've become accustomed to unzipping & extracting the files then installing them using the package manager... These packs have an installer with them... Do I just follow the instructions & they'll install themselves where they need to go automatically??? Thanks again Eric
Cheers Peter.. I suspected that would be the case... Do I need to clear the cache after installing them??? Eric
When you've modded files (like I've done with the AWS sounds on my Class 58) does this [clearing the cache] revert the sounds back to how they were originally (as in how the devs made it???)... Eric
Eric It depends on which cache are you talking about? If you are referring to the so called "blueprint cache" which you can access in TS Settings then that does not change anything that you have installed it merely deletes blueprint.pak files that are occasionally formed when you install a 3rd party addon. These are cache files that supposedly make loading of routes and/or scenarios faster as a cache has been created when opening and running the same route TS many times. Probably not needed if you have SSD's, etc. They can safely be deleted and do NOT affect anything else. Now if you are talking about 'verifying the game files' via Steam (used to be known as verifying the game cache) then it still shouldn't affect any addons that you have installed (sound files, etc), but in some rare cases they could be overwritten.
