From what’s been said in the past, the trouble with doing long routes is the number of stations...but if the route is mostly underground there could be the chance of possibly a longer route? I think running the eurotunnel trains would provide lots of fun. Especially given the variety of freight that also goes through pulled by the class(91?). Then the Eurostar’s themselves would provide high speed passenger operations. Even if the route is just london to Calais I think it would be a ton of fun.
Seeing a 91 pulling freight through the channel tunnel would certainly up end the railway world that's for dam sure lol
I don't see why people keep on suggesting the Chunnel. I remember the 10km Arlbergtunnel in Train Simulator, that was long and boring enough.
Is it? It that case I think it would be best as a SE HS extensions. But as said, who wants to drive in the dark in a tunnel for half an hour? It wouldn't be fun. Also I wouldn't expect nothing longer that that as LGV Marseille-Avignon will be about 105 km... so I wouldn't hold my breath for a 400km railway Also Eurostar currently doesn't give out licenses, might change if they get bought or merge with Thalys
Of all the railways in all the world with all the fantastic scenery and places to see and stop at and the variety of trains there are to choose from, there are still people who want a dark featureless tunnel with nowhere to stop and a train that drives itself. Route length alone is not the ultimate goal of a train simulator and this isn’t the way to be getting longer routes anyway. Think of the poor route builders and their mental health. Building the tunnel section would be the kind of torture that most democratic governments have made illegal. In years to come, people would be putting on benefit concerts in aid of all the digital artists that had to work on it and the devs would be incarcerated for crimes against humanity. Best just to leave it be, I think.
It’s an interesting one to discuss... I can see why some people would want it, but also question the point of just travelling on the tunnel just to go from Folkestone to Calais. If it were to be done, I personally would suggest having Ashford International to Calais or to Lille. This then would mean you do get some daylight haha.
Quite right, I find the underground tedious enough but at least there is plenty to do and it is broken up a bit by the stations. If we could drive from London to Paris all the way through then that would be different but just having the tunnel and some yards either end would be very boring. It wouldn’t even be cheap and easy with all the custom assets needed.
