I've got to say, the lack of paths in the so called 'scenario creator' is as much use as a chocolate fireguard.

When we were told about the creator and the preserved collection coming over, I thought great, I can make these stations and routes come alive!

TVL: just 2 paths I can have out of Darlington! so I can't wait in my service and watch a freight pull in and a 45/47 express fly past on the fast lines and a loco hauled service pull into another platform before I depart.

NTP: Just one path from Leeds and one path from Manchester!?! Seriously!! Really!!!???? Come on....!!!
I want to be filling the other platforms with other services! 'Immersion' afterall

I understand it's only V1 of the creator but I seriously hope we get many many many more paths added, I'd even put it more of a priority than portals, A to B and back and coupling/uncoupling tasks.

Also, why do I keep getting 'Name not Allowed' when trying to name Scenario's and Services? I mean, what is wrong with 'Saltburn Loco'? or 'SburnLoco'? yet it allowed me to name one 'Darlington Western'???

I agree so much- you could do more with quick drive on TS classic.

The planner was the only reason I upgraded to TSW2

I think the paths included in tthe scenario planner are those used in timetable mode. IT's far too restrictive for you to do anything meaningful beyond
    - Drive this train here
    - Then what?
    - *vague mumble*

The game has a massive (arguably nonsensical) list of extremely strcitly applied profanity filters/banned words. Clearly "burn" and/or "loco" are on that list. It was demonstrated in an official stream a couple days after TSW2 was launched. The game told a bemused Sam he couldn't name a freight train "Not for passengers", presumably because "passengers" contains a slang term for a person's bottom (or an alternate term for a Donkey). You also can't use the word "class".

I was also tempted across to TSW2 by the possibilities of the scenario planner. It's turning out to be rather frustrating. Only one platform you can use at Manchester? One at Leeds? No access to the bay platform at Stalybridge? Very poor, I hope things improve. The ability to add or remove stock would be handy too. Trying to put the 47 and Mk2 carriages on the Darlington to Saltburn run but seven coaches is one too many apparently. The only six car rake is the Mk1 set in 1950s livery from the West Somerset. Very nice but not appropriate for the BR blue period.

Yup. It's certainly a far cry from the scenario Matt built in the (now deleted) stream where he showed off the TSW editing tools. Of course this is way more user friendly, but does it really need to sacrifice this much functionality?

I was also tempted by the scenario planner and was arguably excited, especially when they allowed preserved collection into it. However, I was presented with some menus that are rather confusing, irritating to use and I get easily lost in, plus tons of (arbitrary) restrictions that severely limit your creativity. At least the sticker creator is actually quite nice to use.

You cant use California or Class either! and we DEFO need more Paths for ALL routes (GWE excepted but the southall sidings) like we need the platform 1 at lewes to let us go to Seaford and Eastbourne, same for vice versa to platforms 5 and 2, we need the 5th platform to be useablt too for the shuttle. Talking of the freight, you cant set the freight to have priority to you so the freight always waits

Luckily there isn't a route which covers a certain Lincolnshire town, the scenario planner would have a meltdown!

I love making scenarios in TS1 but I think I will give it a miss in TSW2 until it improves and you can make your own consists and pick your own path.

I hope we can set up free roam scenarios in the future too.

-more available lines to put trains on
    -coupling/decoupling
    -shunting scenarios
    -setting up consists on yards
-better overview of what train uses which track. You have to test hour long routes just to be sure that no train blocks you from completing.

It’s woefully inadequate for anything other than the odd off the rails full route run with a wrong train for fun. Anything you might want to do with suitable trains is very restricted, or already pretty much covered in the timetable. Anything approaching an actual scenario looks impossible to me. Far too many restrictions and uncertainties about what can be done and if it will work.

The routes need to be built to specifically work with the scenario planner and include many paths right from the start, not just a selection of what is in timetable mode and a couple of extras. That isn’t going to apply to preserved collection but any path that is available should be included in those routes as much as possible. They currently aren’t. There is also the ambiguity of where the paths actually go, because you can’t really tell until you’ve made a scenario, even with the paths being so limited in variety. If you know the route and want to use a particular stretch of track, there’s no way of finding a path that has that track in it, and any two trains are likely to have conflicting paths if you can’t tell where they will go. The paths need to be shown on the 2D map to show exactly where they go. That means the 2D map needs to be loadable before the route, while you are in scenario planner.

I actually tried to use it today to make a proper scenario on NTP but there was a bug preventing my train from passing a red light on my first test after placing one train (on the only platform available in Manchester). Imagine that, a bug in TSW2 that makes you give up before you even get your teeth into it. I wouldn’t have been able to place my second train anyway as I wanted that to go from Manchester too. Never mind, I’ll add it to the list of things I’m waiting to be able to do.

The lack of useable platforms doesn't only affect trains leaving Manchester of course. My intention was to have my train passed by several trains descending from Miles Platting but they all need somewhere to go and without portals and only one platform, there isn't really much scope for realistic activity.

Let’s face it, in its current state, it isn’t a scenario planner, but simply a glorified quick drive.

Without any weather settings. You have to glitch it into doing weather, and even then it sometimes doesn't do it.
