You are only ever going to see a thumbs up from me for that suggestion, along with a Scottish route to run them on. I know I suggested Highland Main Line in another thread earlier, but Bo'ness to Kinneil would do for a quick and dirty route to package with them (or Strathspey). How about it DTG, time for some more classic traction!
Old is of course relative. I firmly belong with the OP in terms of the era I enjoy but it’s a sobering thought that traction like the Class 59 and 66 could now be considered vintage. As regards Sprinter DMUs even the Class 158’s are as old now as the Heritage DMUs when they were replaced.
I mean the Screen Shots of Wiki - means the thread isn't searchable and is terrible for those who use assistive tech. Just copy/paste the text.
I like anything that carries or was allocated a BR TOPS number and related to the same period of 1965 to now. British Rail has used some awesome and some unusual machines in its lifetime. I once wanted to try a N gauge model railway with examples of all TOPS classes but many were never made and space and expense was a further issue. Now I have a virtual trainset which is constantly growing, never takes up more physical space and is far less costly, not to mention a million times more interactive.
Rats I'd love to see on NTP, especially as they were quite prolific around Manchester at the time. 26's and 27's as has been said, a nice Scottish route to run them on, and I'd be sold.
