I’m interested in the Midland Mainline, Sheffield - Derby and the Derwent Valley extension but note that the minimum AMD processor spec is for Ryzen 7, which seems quite high for a game like TS2021. I have other routes that run OK on a much lower spec machine.

I’m just buying a Ryzen 3-3200G based machine with Radeon Vega 8 graphics, not state of the art I know but within budget. Has anyone had experience of running this game with a similar setup and, if so, how does it run, if at all?

Also, as it is a 3rd party route from Just Trains, is installation straightforward into a Steam installation of TS2021?

Edit: I’m running the new Glasgow Suburban route with no probs and the recommended spec is also for Ryzen 7 although minimum spec is less.

Just follow the instructions and it is simple and automatic.
I can't comment on whether your rig will run this route OK as I am an Intel user not AMD. Good Luck!

I wouldn't worry too much. I'm using a 10 year old Intel i7-3960X and a GTX980, and I can run anything on max settings.

    However....
I'm not going to sugar coat this for you... That will give you a miserable TS2021 experience. Even at 1080p you'll be turning back settings to get decent frame rates.

    What's your budget?

Thanks. Thats very helpful. The new setup is faster than the old one so I might take the chance. I have run Glasgow at high setting in a window and it runs quite well. I don’t count frame rates, just whether it looks reasonable and isn’t too jerky. As long as it runs, I can adjust things to get a reasonable compromise.

Zen 2 Ryzen single core performance isn't great... not like Zen 3. Personally I'd go for a lower end Coffee Lake i5 like the 9400F and a GTX1650. More money... but (shrug)... I don't know what your budget is.

    Click these links.

The rig you were planning on buying.

    i5-9400F and GTX1650
