Now that the gwe is out I would like to see the class 180 Adelante as a addon for it. it would add extra services such as the Malvern and Worcester ones and it would give us another form of train that runs at 125mph on the route. Picture below one I taken back in November 2016 at Reading.
All I want for Christmas... is this I'd love to have Adelantes on this route. Unless there's one on a non UK route I don't know of, we've never had a high speed DMU before so I'd love this. It would bring back memories of when I used to see them at Paddington when I was younger.
Yeah it'd be best as a static exhibit taking up space in the least convenient location since that's basically what the real ones do. On a more serious note, i agree, it'd be great to have a 180 in the game.
The class 180 and class 165 are much needed as well as the passenger and freight branch lines to Greenford, Brentford, Colnbrook, Windsor, Bourne End/Marlow and Henley.
Totally agree 180 for GWE, along with a route extention, so we can have more fun driving it along with the HST
i totally agree on having an extension even if its to Oxford would be brilliant so we can get more out of the trains also adding Reading West station to use it as a start and end point for the Southampton containers which then they could make a class 66 freightliner livery and another loco addon being the class 70 heavy haul.
Be nice to see an Add-on for the GWE, as its the only UK route that hasn't had one, Class 800 in diesel mode would be nice to see
Totally agree on the 70, tho I think it deserves a route for itself, on GWE it would add just a couple services
As for extensions, I think the route desperately needs the Greenford branch. I don't understand the point of including the Greenford services (which 166s don't run anyway unless GWR are really desperate), but not the branch, and it's a half hour wait at West Ealing unless you walk down the line?
Indeed, would be nice to see them all (since I don't think any of them are in TS2021). Personally, though, I think priority should go to Greenford, given we have (half) of the services already and driveable.
An Adelante would be good to see. I think a class 165 would make sense and as said an extension to Greenford would be great too. I assume the Greenford services are mainly two car class 165's? I don't think there are numerically enough class 166's to run all the services they are used on in the sim as I am sure I have seen the same unit number twice! An extension to Oxford would be good to see or maybe Swindon, would give some extra mileage for the HST. I would love to see it going to Bristol but that is truly pie in the sky. GWE definitely could do with something new to use on it.
Maybe a Class 57 to get the Night Riviera? I wouldn't mind preparing and operating the associated services to get this iconic Great Western Sleeper Train, Penzance - Paddington, Paddington - Reading ECS Reading - Paddington ECS Paddington - Penzance?
Yes, I am surprized that DGT havent borrowed a 47 or something to run the "sleeper" train out of Paddington at 2345
1. Night Riviera is operated with a class 57, which uses the same body (and presumably cab) of a Class 47, that's basically where the similarities stop (having said that, the front of the passenger variants have a very different front). 2. They'd still need to make the Mk3 SLEPs.
I would say that they would need the MK3 SLEPs but...in NTP the "post" run is done using the standard carriages, not the sorting ones...so guess its make believe...
Do you mean the mail train? If so, mk1 BGs (which is what that train is made from) were used on newspapers and parcels trains: https://bob65b.files.wordpress.com/2013/06/c1301-2-dt-95210-norwich-300587_1.jpg?w=768&h=487 I don't think you can convincingly get away with have a BR Blue or BR Green Class 47 hauling some of the HST's mk3s and calling it a Night Riviera Sleeper. Not for me in TSW, anyway. To me, that's a railtour that for some reason is using GWR HST Mk3s.
I agree a class 47 sounds much different to a 57, there were some modifications in the cab too I believe. Although all those GWR HST's and class 166's dominating local services don't make it exactly true to prototype I suppose.
Would only be useable on the current route in diesel mode but for realism, the Class 800's were a few years away from the 2015 period reflected by the route. The route would need a complete reworking to include full OHLE which is currently in use. My personal opinion is that the real route has lost a little of its character since the cessation of diesel services which really made the line interesting.
