NJ Transit's PL42ACs were built at Spain in 2003 by Alstom EMD and assembled at New York in 2004 to 2006. This PL42AC has 4200 hp with 800 kw (1,100 HP) of HEP for passenger cars with its EMD 16-710G3B-T1. Which is also used on SD70Ms and MACs with EPA Tier 1 Emissions compliant/EFI Equipped and without HEP. This loco has 4 (sort of) special features
    • 1. IGBT, which has precise traction computers for traction effort.
    • 2. It has WABCO's EPIC II system with an E-7 wheel slide device, which prevents flat spots.
    • 3. A intelligent display unit (IDU) which allows a user to see past data of the loco on its runs.
    • 4. This loco has software to prevent it from having problems. Ex. Auto shutdown if it has an oil leakage. Of course not all of this can be in Railworks (but can in TSW) but it is stuff to know about this loco.
    Small thing to know
    • When this loco moves at high speeds, it rocks back and forward intensely.
    • Has a roster from 4000 to 4032
    • Runs on the Main/Bergen/Port Jervis, NJCL, Pascack, Boonton, Raritan, Morristown, and (Formerly) The Atlantic City Line
Was removed from ACL services due to crew service reported intense rocking when moving at high speeds and quick service is required. GP40s and (rare) ALP45DPs currently run on the ACL now.

    Locomotive Information
    • Max Speed - 99 MPH (160 km/h)
    • Size: 21.29 meters long, 3.25 meters wide and 4.70 meters tall
    • Weight - 131 Metric Tons
    • Starting Tractive Effort 311 kN
    • Continuous Tractive Effort 120 kN
    • Engine - Electric Motive Division 16N-710-G3B-T1 with 16 cylinders
    • Horsepower - Build: 4,200 HP. Service: 3,620 HP Max with Head End Power
    • RPM - 900 RPM Max
    • Fuel tank capacity 8500 Liters
    • Modified Engine for Emission standards - EPA Tier 1

    This loco carries NJ Transit's
    • Multilevels
    • Comet Vs
    • Comet IV/IIMs
This is what the DLC should come with ( ONLY ONE PICTURE IS NOT OWNED BY ME )
    • The PL42AC MVI_1550_Moment.jpg
    • (Not a loco) PL42AC Cab View PL42AC.jpg
    • Comet V Coach
      img_0963.jpg
    • Comet V Cab Car[IMG]
The Comet V Coach Cars should also have destination boards on the side of them. Ex:
    Board 2.png

    • And for expansion, the Multilevels. (Same with MLVs too)[IMG]

Not quite...there is some other missing equipment such as the Comet IIMs, IIIs, and ALP-44s! The Comet IIM is identical to the Comet IV but lacks a center door and bathroom. ALP-44s were once a staple of North Jersey Coast and Midtown Direct trains, which in the locomotives pulled/pushed Comet IIM and IV trailers with a Comet IV cab car on the other end. The Multilevels really should come with the PL42AC from the start so the cab cars will be properly optimized for their respective locomotives - just much like the other cab cars in the other NJ Transit DLCs.

True. MSTS has the whole NJT roster, except for the Comet V cab car. It was removed online.

This would be a great addition! From what I have seen this would give us almost the whole roster of NJT equipment!

This as well as the ALP-44’s. Along with the other missing coaches, and we’re good.

I've heard DTG saying this will be put into consideration. So it will possibly made eventually.

I highly doubt they’d make more NJT routes anytime soon or at all. The chances of getting the PL42 is high because a lot of people want it and DTG have said that it’s on the to do list on TS website in one of the articles.

I don't doubt it at all, that they won't make a new NJT route. i know they will. But your statement is true on "anytime soon" for a NJT route. But they could still may be working on an NJT route with a PL42AC.

Don't worry, LIRR should come eventually and DTG is really considering to making the Hudson Line in TSW. You just gotta give them some time.

Oh trust me I did give DTG time, a lot! Ever since DTG released the NYNH route with Metro North I couldn’t keep my mind off the idea of finally getting LIRR content. Jay has confirmed that a new DLC will be announced in a week or two so I’m really hoping it’s the LIRR or MNRR!

It’s funny that there is barely any pictures of the cab of the PL42AC. I saw like one or two but barely any.

It’s just too early in the life of TSW. That’s why I personally stand by this route coming out for TS2018. The routes so far for TSW just aren’t being made long enough to expect route at a reasonable length especially in the near future. Especially that of the Metro North or the Long Island Railroad.

They’ve still got plenty of voids to fill in TS. As far as New York based Railroad, the LIRR is a huge one.

But I do look forward to seeing this route and all others we are passionate about to be seen in the glorious fidelity of TSW in the future.

Honestly if they make the Port Jefferson Branch for the LIRR in TSW which is only 60 miles and uses diesel and electric trains, I’ll be quite happy. A 60 mile route would be around the length of routes we have now and it would be so great! But since this page is not for the LIRR, we should take this conversation elsewhere.

The Port Jefferson is the one I want to see. As I am typing this right now. I hear a PL42AC K5LA.

It was KLW Train Sim, they still have the comet v coaches but the cab car isn't there, I asked someone who had it a few years ago and they said that they didn't have it anymore.

Why do DTG introduces weathered locos and charge additional for them. A train sim is a place where a person comes with an interest to feel like in real world. A weathered loco stained with oil and grease will more solve the purpose for it then a loco without these. So every locos in TS or TSW should be stained with oil and grease as they found in real world. Afterall this is a train SIM

Many of the license holders do not want to see their liveries in other than pristine condition. So one requirement of some of the licenses are they are not to be sold in a less than flattering representation. Other Freeware authors are not bound by the licensing requirements ths DTG must follow.

Needs to be added in because it's another staple of NJCL & Morristown Lines diesel service to Hoboken Terminal from bay head and Hackettstown pre 2021. There's a new order of Tier 4 EPA 2015 compliant ALP-45DP replacing the PL42AC first one is 4535. Here's the catch if Atlantic city line PL42AC can't be operated there due to vibrations. On RVL PL42AC operates with MLV I 2006-2009 & MLV II 2009-2014 in addition to Comet IV 1996 Comet V 2002-2003. If you want 2004-2006 PL42AC will run with Comet I IA IB Comet III & Comet II then newer Comet IV & V towards High Bridge 1hr 40 trip.

Port Jervis Line is what you're looking for. Me Raritan Valley Line High Bridge to 34th Street Penn Station New York but on the RVL PL42AC is High Bridge to Newark Penn or Hoboken via Waterfront connection

Definitely; I still have hope for this to get made eventually. Honestly, it's one of the last locos I really want.
