I'm assuming the Just Train addon routes for the JT version of this won't work with it?

    That is a good question.
When JT released Derby - Nottingham - Leicester they did an update to Sheffield - Derby to make it work.
I would doubt if that update would be uploaded to DTG/Steam

So why exactly would anyone buy the Steam version, if the JT version, available fr the same price, has all the route extensions available for it? I really don't understand why they've done this. If you buy the JT version you have Derby-Nottingham-Liecester as an add-on... you have Erewash Valley as an add-on. You hvae Midland Mainline: Derwent Valley as an extension to it. You have Barrow Hill as an extension to it.

Why would I buy the Steam version if none of the addons work for it?

You don't know about the JT version.
You aren't interested in the extensions.
    It was gifted.
You want the European loco & asset pack which comes bundled with it.
You like the convenience of all your DLC being in a unified library.
It was cheaper than JT, at the time you bought it.

    Many reasons, people are diverse.

Note: it's not been established the add-ons don't work on the DTG version.

Which is why I asked the question.

Email JT and ask them. They're usually pretty straightforward in their answers

Yeah, I'll drop them a line. I just thought someone may have tried it on here.

I've always thought that the JT routes on steam are the same as the JT routes from JT without the extra scenarios, (ie those needing 3rd party DLC)?
The GUID are the same for the JT and DTG routes:
    fd2885e5-2744-4fdd-8a49-e60b027ac26d Midland Main Line: Sheffield-Derby
So if the steam/DTG version is v1.05 then the extensions from JT should work. The JT installer will look for that GUID and should load without issue. Some scenarios in the extensions may not work if they are using DLC that was needed in the JT version of the MML.
    Just a thought.

    Well, I'm sorry to report....

"The add-ons from JT will only work with the JT version. At some point DTG might agree to sell Steam versions of the add-ons, but no clue as to when that might be."

That's the reply from Just Trains. So with that in mind, I shall buy the JT version, as to spend the same amount of money to lose the ability to expland them (or be reliant on DTG to do so) makes no sense to me.

I haven't got round to purchasing these yet and was interested when the Derby to Sheffield part came up on steam. However on hearing that news, like you when I get round to getting the route I will purchase from JT.

Do people take the chance of the installer working?
Because of the Barrow Hill Roundhouse Add-on the Sheffield-Derby section is now v1.06

Would be nice now to see the Sheffield to Derby route in the JT xmas sale. A suitable discount may persuade others to purchase the other add ons for this route. Their sale started on the 13th last year but my guess is it will be later this year, possibly the 18th, we shall see, but I hope this route has a discount.

Good Point about the 1.06 version. Strange, usually 3rd party scenarios work in both versions.

I believe 1.06 adds new trackwork to Barrow Hill. Obviously without it you can't run scenarios that use those features.

JT might have amended the track work in the Chesterfield Area to allow the Barrow Hill package to work with Sheffield - Derby.

It is getting a bit expensive for me to try it at the moment
    Sheffield - Derby is £24.99
    Derby - Nottingham - Leicester is £19.99
The Erewash Valley line that connects Chesterfield to Nottingham and past Toton Yard is £12.99
    - I assume the Erewash Valley line also goes to Trent Jn but that is not mentioned?
Then there is the Derwent Valley line for £7.99 to Matlock
And the new Barrow Hill extension for £5.99

    That is £71.95 :o

You'd think they'd do a discounted package for everything like the Western Mainlines.

Somebody posted a screenshot of the route in the game and it now included the track thru the Hope Valley to Edale or Chinley East Jn.
When they have finished developing the routes they might do a full package
AFAIR they only did the full Western Mainline after the Cornish section was released

It's a little pricey Peter, but it's worth the money. The collection really shows how far JT have come along since their Western Mainlines in terms of build quality.
