LZB for the LZB equipped DB preserved locos has been requested very frequently. Its been a while since the arrival of TSW 2 and the introduction of LZB. Nothing's on the roadmap. Just wondering if there's any new update on this matter?
Hiya. LZB is only applicable for trains and routes that operate above 160km/h? So in terms of the Preserved Collection, we'd be looking at: BR182 BR185.2 (.5 is freight only?) Hauptstrecke Rhein-Ruhr
Nope, neither of them has a top speed beyond 160 km/h. And both are freight only. The TRAXX model used for passenger services is the BR146.2 .
Cheers! Thanks a lot for responding to my thread. Just one quick clarification, yes LZB is used for trains to operate at speeds exceeding 160 km/h, but also to allow trains to operate more closely together (shorter distance). An example of this is the 423 with a top speed of 140 km/h, it is equipped with LZB as it runs on the incredibly busy Stammstrecke in Munich. It’s a form of in-cab signaling, primarily uses on dense mainline routes like SKA and HMA. (note: the LZB section in HMA on the RE/freight tracks is much smaller compared to the SKA one, but exists.) The 182, 155, 146.2, 425, and 185.2/.5 all have LZB functionality in reality. I understand they are "preserved locos", but I believe you already have the code for LZB for the display and analog dashboards, I’m assuming it shouldn’t be too hard and costly to implement. I could very well be wrong though. These are a lot of locos, hope it’s possible with the small team of yours. I also completely understand it’s not one of your largest priorities at the moment. Yes, most of those locos aren't permitted to exceed 160 kmh or less, but on dense routes with LZB sections like part of SKA and HMA, they do drive with LZB in reality. If you pay attention to the aforementioned loco cabs, LZB panel switches, LZB lamps/indicators and distance meter are built into the analog dashboards and with the TRAXX locos (with displays) the blue LZB Überwachung lamp (the “Ü“) (means LZB is active) is located to the left of the middle display. Most of those locos usually don't drive on LZB routes as they run freight and regional express services where LZB signaling is rarer, but in these two dense mainline TSW 2 routes with LZB sections they do. Wow, that was a mouthful Hope this all makes sense
I get that you have only the best intentions from reading your post, but you should not assume how much work any of the detailing here is I bet saying "simply", "can't be hard" or "shouldn't take long" all send shivers down the developers backs
Haha true, I am certainly no developer and I have zero experience when it comes to game coding/programming, but I also said It was just an assumption, sorry.
Thanks for expanding on the OP with more details. As ever though no promises. If it isn't on the roadmap, we have no plans for it.
