Having been bemoaning the lack of DMU's, especially feeling a class 108 would be beneficial I happened upon a solution. I remembered that years ago I had purchased the IHH class 107 pack and found it on an old USB drive. The class 107 was pretty much identical to the class 108 except it was a "heavyweight" unit with more powerful engines and used heavier gauge metal. Whilst probably not 100% accurate placed in the game with the numbers of a class 108 it looks just like a class 108, well the later batch with the headcode box. My question is, is there a guide to aliasing sounds from something else. Ideally the AP class 101 sounds but having looked at the folder structures I get the feeling that is too complicated but maybe the RSC class 101 sounds? I have searched on Google and whilst it comes up it basically says it is fairly easy to do without really telling you how, unless you just want to change the horn. Can anyone point me in the direction of a guide which I might have missed please or has anyone done something similar themselves? Many thanks in advance.
I recently changed the Audio on the Sim-Express SNCF BB26000 as I did not like the rail sounds it made when running over points. The way I did it was to find a suitable engine to provide the sounds and copied a couple of files. Having looked in \railworks\Assets\RSC\BritishRailClass101\Audio\RailVehicles\Diesel\Class 101 there are two files Class 101.proxybin & Class 101.proxyxml Copy these two files from your Class 101 folder to the IHH Class 107 Audio folder You should have something like 107.proxybin & 107.proxyxml files - not sure of the names as I don't have it Rename the default versions to 107.proxybin.old & 107.proxyxml.old and the game won't see them Rename the Class 101.proxybin & Class 101.proxyxml to 107.proxybin & 107.proxyxml The game will now see the renamed Class 101 files and apply them That should work - if it does not remove the newly copied 101 files and rename the 107 files by removing the .old Peter
Unfortunately it didn't work. I think the sounds are set up differently. The class 107 folder has several proxybin files and also two WAV folders.
Hello Peter, Thank you. I have also attached the inside of the WAV Cab and Engine sub folders of the audio - diesel folder.
Rename Class_107 Engine.proxyxml to Class_107 Engine.proxyxml.old Rename Class_107 Engine proxybin to Class_107 Engine proxybin.old Copy the Class 101.proxybin & Class 101.proxyxml files from the RSC folder and then rename to Class_107 Engine.proxybin and Class_107 Engine.proxyxml respectivly See if that works The DAV files are what the game sees when it needs to play a sound The proxyxml file tells the system which file to play which is this case are the Class 101 sounds Peter
Thanks for all your help and advice Peter, it is much appreciated, sadly I am still getting the original sounds after following your instructions.
