I recently made a video suggesting the Circle and Hammersmith & City lines of the London Underground in TSW. How do all of you feel about this suggestion?
I think the Circle line should definetly be in the game. In a poll about what london underground route players wanted in the game, an overwhelming majority voted for the Circle Line. That poll was made several months ago in the forums The Hammersmith And City Line would be cool as well. I personally think it would probably be easier to make a sub-surface line than a deep tube line because they got a lot of stuff with the Bakerloo line wrong. Sounds, modeling Picidally Circus. Not putting lights in the proper places in the tunnels.
Yup. These tunnels are bigger, so in theory they should be easier to place props in... Unless someone would LIKE TO CORRECT ME? No, So yeah, it'd be easier.
Tentative yes from me but, please, set the era thus that we can drive C69 and A60 stock, not the new S units. The route has been covered in World Of Subways, of course, but it was a bit shonky in places and the trains had some weird physics - like rolling uphill when you released the brakes! In theory if you do it as the "new" Circle Line which integrated the H&C, they already have the section from Westbourne Park to Paddington in the game anyway (GWE). Albeit non-operational on the LUL line.
Sorry but I would like it at modern day with ato. There is an option to turn it off and drivers are encouraged to turn it off. I don't like the A and C stock. The S stocks are amazing trains and I'm sure many people would want a modern day circle and hammersmith and city line. Not an era with trains that no longer run on the london underground network
Wait until my Metropolitan Line suggestion for the A Stock... I love the C Stock, which is why I said it would be nice to see it set in 14' with both the S and C Stock. I can't imagine them doing a route set before then. I also wanted to cater to the more modernized audience. The ones who only like Modern trains with all those "Fancy Computer Systems".
Drivers don't like it period. It's "Too Damn Slow". Personally, I hate ATO with a passion. That's why I said 2014 with both the S and C Stock.
At least with ato, tfl have managed to put more trains in the lines which is cool. Also if the bakerloo line is set in 2020 I don't think it would make since for them to make an underground line set in 2014. I honestly think that would not happen but I could be wrong. If the make the Piccidally Line, that would probably set in 2020 or 2021 modern day as well
That's not a result of ATO, that's CBTC. The Piccadilly will probably be first going off what Matt said in that one interview with Geoff Marshall, so it'll probably be 2021. So you're probably right about it being a Modern Day adaptation of it... I'm cool with using ATO in-game, but it's annoying when you know how bad it can be IRL.
I hope they do as well. I'll look the other way if it's wrong though. I am ready to put on my vest and hop in the driver's seat to take the controls.
If you wanted to get really retro, could throw in some CP or R stock, which was actually the very first time I travelled on the Circle Line, way back in around 1968 when my parents took us on a journey that involved travelling via London. (Overnight on the 201 United RELH from Newcastle to Victoria then train from Paddington to Reading!). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/London_Underground_R_Stock
No thanks on the ATO - at that point we may as well have a sim of driving the DLR. Would love some vintage stuff though, we seem to be in the minority but modern trains that drive themselves seem to ruin the point of a simulator. If I just wanted accurate modern recreations I can watch cab videos!
You know that you can turn them off right. Drivers of the S7/S8 in real life are encouraged to turn ato off as well. I don't want vintage stuff personally
Read my earlier messages in this thread about ATO. I hate ATO with a passion, 10% because it automates the ride, but mostly because it actually slows the train down. I only mentioned it for realism reasons, as I am a part of the bunch who wants realistic/accurate routes. I'm more than happy to put my gloves on and take over the controls, especially since sometimes you are encouraged to turn it off, and I've heard that some Subsurface Line operators don't like it in the first place.
Cuz the computer is too damn safe... Unlike here in NYC where the 7 Train literally overruns almost every platform under ATO cuz they made it too damn fast.
Circle line would be okay, but I would much rather the District Line. I've got the freeware one for TS2021 and it's probably one of the most interesting/fun routes I've ever driven. There's so much variety. You have new trains (S-Stock) and older trains (D-Stock). Theres the historic older stations like Richmond, Earl's Court, High Street Kensington and Gloucester Rd alongside modern stations like Westminster. You have interesting traffic like the Overground, Piccadilly and Circle lines going alongside. There's over-ground sections and solid tunnel parts and then the cut and cover bits, plus elevated and sunken parts. Tons of stations. I'll admit, it would perhaps be too huge to do in one DLC, but you could do it in 2-3 or even 4 phases like they're doing with the TS freeware project and it would still be great. The Circle line would still be quite good, but I feel like it's too tunnel based and could be a bit boring compared to the District.
The D stock doesn't run on the district line anymore and I don't think dtg are gonna make an underground line set when the d stock was still running if the Bakerloo line is set in 2020. I suspect a sub surface line would be set when only the s7/s8 stocks are running which I prefer to be honest
The Circle literally has all of that, Cut and Cover, Elevated (Viaduct), Regular tunnel. But I get what you're saying. For my first Underground Suggestion, I wanted to suggest my favorite line. I thought about the District but then I was like, "It has so many branches and stuff, it would take a long time to make." For my next suggestion, I'll definitely consider the District or Metropolitan.
This is all in my thoughts, but I feel like our first Subsurface Line will be the Metropolitan, being that it's already In TS21. Maybe JustTrains can work a lil bit on TSW?
It could be the Metropolitan line and I think it would be a cool line especially with all its branch lines
Yes it would take a long time to make, agreed, but most of the interest I think is concentrated in the West/Central part, so they needn't do the whole line. If you only go to Tower Hill, it's not massive. And as I said, it's already been done by a small group of freeware creators for TS, so it's not impossible to do. The reason I'd like to see it in TSW is there's a lot to look at on the line and it could really benefit from the TSW2 graphics.
The thing is, you would only get one train supplied with the route and then maybe another six months down the line (pun intended) as a loco DLC. It’s unlikely that you would see the full set of what was around at that time.
Not to mention that the Bakerloo Line is set in 2020. I don't think it would make sense to have a London Underground route set in 2013/16 just so players can use a train that no longer runs on the network if the Bakerloo line is set in 2020 modern day. I suspect the next line which will most likely be the Piccadilly Line will be set in the year it is released (2021-2022 or beyond) so I don't think dtg will set the subsurface lines in 2013-2017 because of that. I would perfer it to be that way also. It would also be easier for DTG to do that as well
There is a decent Circle Line simulation already, as part of TML's World of Subways series. It came out years ago, and compared to TSW it has more realistic passengers (there is actually a decent amount of them, they run to the train, etc), automated announcements are simulated properly and it had raildriver support out of the box, well mapped too. In it's current state I don't see what TSW can bring that will improve on that experience, except somewhat better graphics. I think it'd be better if DTG concentrate their efforts on routes that aren't simulated yet on any platform. Northern line would be great to have imo, if LU is what we're focusing on.
DTG shouldn’t discount making a route because it’s available in a competing simulator. It would be different enough to World of Subways for players of both to enjoy both versions if they wish and also for the massive console market that don’t have PC exclusive games.
That is of course true, but from my point of view as a PC user, I don't see myself buying a route I already own in a competing product unless it brings something new to the table, and that is a valid opinion to voice. If they made the metropolitan for example, that I'd buy, even though it runs on the same tracks for half of the route.
Well hey not everyone who plays tsw2 has played World Of Subways 3 especially if they don't own a pc. Also if dtg were to make the Circle line, they would make it only with the S7 most likely as the C stock no longer runs on the underground. So I think the Circle line would be a great idea and if it doesn't interest a person who has World Of Subways 3, don't buy it
