Hi, Could anyone please confirm if TSW 2 supports Ultra Wide Monitor support (3440 x 1440) without any screen distortion. Many thanks.
Would you mind posting a screenshot of how it looks? I have been considering an ultrawide monitor for some time but am not confident in TSW's ultrawide FOV.
I may not be ASRGT, but I am currently using a LG 34gn850. Definitely not the cheapest one, but a very good monitor overall. When looking for a 21:9 screen with 34 inches, I recommend getting one with an IPS panel. Previous to my current monitor I tried both the Lenovo G34W10 and the MSI MPG341CQR, both using an VA panel. They had significant problems with viewing angles and flickering when using Freesync while having low FPS. If you don't care about 144hz or such stuff, go for something with 29 or 34 inches and has in IPS panel
Honestly it really is down to price point, but some general rules I stand by personally. 1: Resolution: in general the majority of Ultrawide displays are 34inchs at either 2560x1080 or 3440x1440 there are exceptions to this with the larger displays for example the 5120X1440 49inch from Samsung, the pick of the bunch would be 3440x1440 at 34inch screen size. The reason i do not recommend the smaller 2560x1080 versions is simply that at 34inchs this resolution is far to low resulting in poor readability of text and generally poor desktop use experience so if you can stick with 3440x1440. Note: 3440x1440 is far harder to drive than 1080P so keep in mind you will need to ensure your on a relatively high end GPU to keep up. In my case a 1080Ti . 2. Freesync vs Gsync vs vsync : This one is kind of simple, if you have an Nvidia card do your self a massive favor and just pick up a true GSYNC variant, yes they cost a bit more but the overall experience is brilliant and you will avoid allot of the common issues with freesync/gsync compatible displays. If your AMD then obviously freesync is your best bet. Keep in mind Nvidia does support Gsync on some freesync displays via software, in most cases this works just fine however my personally experience is the native hardware based solution offered with GSYNC only displays is better overall and is not prone to some of the software based issues found on the freesync displays again this is just my experience. Don't buy a standard 60hz Vsync display in 2020 just don't. 3. Refresh rate: In general ultrawide run the full spectrum from stock 60hz displays up to blazing fast 240hz really this choice will come down to budget as much as anything but aim for 100 - 120hz + and you will be glad you did. 4. Panel Tech: IPS over VA any day. Better color better viewing angles, both panel types have pros and cons and you will often find VA in the fastest displays but overall id take an IPS based display if i had the choice. TN.... just nope. Now if you just want raw monitor recommendation personally i run the older Acer X34P - 3440x1440@100Hz Gsync and its been flawless for years now. They did update this model to 120Hz Gsync and its one of the best value ultrawide you can get (at least here it is your country may differ price wise) or as kalteVollmilch mentioned the LG34GN850 is also reasonable. However this is a freesync display with Gsync compatibility via software Vs the Acer that is a native Gsync display if your confused see my second point . If you just want an all in cash is no object then something like the ASUS PG35VQ ROG Swift 35inch will fit the bill and will come with some bonus like HDR support and full array local dimming. and lastly budget option the base LG 34WN750 Freesync display is a good all rounder and is at least 75hz. Summary: Good All Rounders: Acer X34P 120Hz GSYNC LG 34GN850 160Hz Freesync (with software based GSYNC) - probably more but have no first hand experience with them God Tier: ASUS PG35VQ ROG Swift 35inch Samsung G9 Budget: LG 34WN750-W
In full disclosure, I posted this to a MSFS2020 forum, but I thought it also fitted here... I have orded the Samsung Odyssey G9 (5,120 x 1,440). Currently I run a RTX2060 with 3 x 27" 1080p monitors. But I am also looking to get a RTX3080 - maybe. If anyone is interested I will post on how this goes.
I’m currently running Alienware 34” widescreen curved monitor. No issues with this game at all. Pricey though
Just remember, Ultrawides at 3440*1440 are pushing almost as many pixels as 4k, which means you'll need some horsepower. I've been rocking a Dell U3415w for over 3 years now. I get pretty much a solid 60fps with my setup, But it does occasionally drop to the mid 40's. Sam
If by "almost as many pixels", you mean only 60% as many, then yes. You will need a GPU that can command greater than 2580 x 1440 but it is not as demanding as 4k by quite a margin. I would recommend a GTX 1080 at minimum, preferably a RTX 2070S or better.
