Trying to move the class 68 in 3 Werry scenarios, the reverser will not stay in the forward or reverse position, I have read and followed the manual and tried every possible combination of actions. if i hold it in the forward positioning select throttle 1 the loco will start to move then the emergency brakes will come on. begining to wish I had never bought it. As a second question when on the Fife Circle the same locomotive the reverser works ok, but when i touch the ' key to brake, the emergency brakes apply. there is no way i can brake gradually. Mike
Just checked and it works fine for me. Have you got any peripherals plugged in which might be affecting it? I've got a raildriver and if I live the software running it can override the keyboard commands I believe this is a known bug with the 68 from DTG. Only way I know to override is to get the 68 pack from AP which disables the emergency brake feature of the air brakes, meaning to E brake you have to hit the plunger or use the emergency brake key (cant remember what that is) Remember that the 68 has both air and resistive brakes, so the power handle acts as an engine brake too
There is no fool like an old fool, sorry Peter and thank you. I have just read the Manual for the forth time word for word, most of the locos i have driven turning on the master key is Contl + W on this one it is Shift + W. I will say no more, everthing working now. Mike
Mike - then are you the same person as pure nostalgia on UKTS. I always thought that you were related to Tom Jones from your icon photo!
I am Peter I always like to use my real name, but for some reason it was rejected. As for Tom Jones that is the only thing we have in common Lol. I have sorted the AP class 68 in other routes, but it must still be the DTG one in Fife Circle as I have not cracked that yet. if I look at the ' key the emergency brakes are applied. but it works in the cab control. Mike
If you press and hold ' like you would for a class 66 it will just dump itself into full brakes. If you press ' once (just tap it), it will start to increase brake pressure. Press ; and it will stop. You can also brake by using the throttle... just press "D" until the brake setting you require is reached. As others have said the AP enhancement pack will make the ' key behave as it should, like a class 66.
There is a patch for the Stand Alone Class 68 on UKTS to fix the brakes but the Fife Circle installs to a different folder so it does not work on that loco unfortunately.
