Well here we go, the stats for one of, if not, the most anticipated TSW routes ever, Southeastern High Speed, have just been added to the steamdb. Just hours after the LGV achievements finally became unhidden:

Also worth noting that for the Class 375, it will be 375/9 variation that will be featured with this route. Hopefully we will here more information soon.

Im sure adam confirmed it was the 375-9 variant in the last roadmap stream, either way hype overload...

I am very excited about this, probably more than any route before. There's a possibility that it might come out next week, hopefully it moves to next release on the roadmap next Tuesday. Am I right in thinking that it's Thursday when new DLC are usually released?

Going by how previous DTG routes/loco add-ons have been released, usually there has been a period of about 20-25 days between the stats entering the steamdb and the route/loco add-on coming out. Just below, I have made a small table which shows this in more detail:

    Route release period.PNG

Now counting out Isle Of Wight, if we were to use this and apply to SEHS, which it's stats were entered yesterday, we should be expecting it on January 28th which is 3 weeks from now.

Nice work, WonterRail, I was thinking about doing a similar thing based on when the product entered 'upcoming' on the roadmap and when it was released, though you would have to be careful about the christmas period and a 2 week error bar (as roadmaps are every 2 weeks).

Awesome! I'm really excited about this route. I hope it also comes with a freight loco. Then it will have the best of 3 worlds, high speed, regular passenger, and freight! :)

Unfortunately it looks very unlikely to be bundled with a freight (Class 66) loco as it would also require for an appropriate freight wagon to be modelled with it too.

If freight was included, there would have been a Steam achievement in that list.

Freight would only run from Springhead junction to Hoo Junction anyway, about 4.5 miles...

Would be nice to have some British layers though and for the 66 to be of some use in the route. I suspect this would have been announced though if it were included.

The layers for Hauptstrecke Munchen-Augsburg were not talked about until the first reveal stream - so it is definitely possible for there to be a class 66 layer (though it would be short drive and I guess there could only be some shunting)

    Thanks,
Is it me, or do the TSW routes tend to come with far less locomotives? I love how many TS routes come with 2-3, even 5 (WCMLS) locos.

It's mainly because DTG just recycles locos from other routes/loco add-ons within the TS roster, whereas with TSW, it's usually 1 loco is new and the other is an existing loco thats either in a different livery, is a different type or has been upgraded.

I think they mentioned once upon a time that layers were restricted to German routes, but it would be fun to see them using it with other countries as well.

Yeah. With TSW you generally get less content/locos per route compared to TS1.

Some routes literally only come with one piece of rolling stock in TSW.

Looking forward to this as it’s a route I occasionally use.
I’ve been in the cab, but was too busy talking to take photos. (Pause for a Simpsonian Doh)

In this case the only addition that would make sense would be the 700 as that runs from Springhead to Rainham. Even the Networkers (465/466) don't run on the route much nowadays except to depot and back, most turn back at Gravesend

Really looking forward to this. Will it be the longest passenger journey on TSW? Would be great if it included the Medway Valley Line down to Maidstone West as both 395s and 375s work that route.

Just had a look at the TS2021 version and that version is 82 kms (51 miles) long and comes with only the 395 and 375. There are scenarios for the 395 only.

So I suppose the TSW version will only include the 395. I was unaware this route did not have freight.

Awards for 375 indicates it will be included (and we know from roadmap that 465 is on the way also)

And yeah, North Kent has very little freight and none at all past Hoo

We got an additional layer in East Coastway, albeit only a railtour service once a day if you own NTP. Even if we don't get a class 66 freight layer in SEHS I hope they do include a couple of railtours. I'll be a bit disappointed if it literally just has class 395 and 375 services at launch.

Wish they had done the Ashford branch to St.P. as we could then have had the Eurostar addon.
Still Faversham station is less ghastly than Ashford, though Ashford does have the Hitachi works.
    Nice eye candy.

Eurostar don't talk to people about licensing, so we could have had the ashford branch with the Javelins and nothing else... At least this way it's not four stations and a few tunnels

Hoo is still pretty busy in itself, and Cliffe still gets a few trains a week, not to mention container, steel and pre-fab concrete traffic up to Thamesport. There's also still a fair few workings past Hoo via the Medway Valley, usually to get to Tonbridge but occasionally beyond.

That's why I said North Kent. Mid Kent and MVL get a few aggregate trains and the engineers trains from Tonbridge run it a few times a week.
From Hoo it's track laying and the oil trains from Grain

It’s unfortunate that Eurostar has been quite hostile to some people in the past. If I remember correctly, I thought JustTrains had a similar issue because they were planning Ashford to Lille (I think)

I think JustTrains just outright refused to publish the route because of the quality of it.

Realistically new routes don’t come with more than 2 trains at launch. Another other trains will be added in via layers with future DLC.

I’m seriously not expecting anything other than the 395 and 375 at launch. The 465 will come later via a DLC but I’m not expecting any freight for the route if I’m honest with you.

We could also have incidents such as the Eurostar damaging the catenary.
    Sheep on the line.
And I once stopped in the country while the 395 driver removed something from the line.
    Was after high winds.

Since the route appeared on the roadmap, it has only ever included the 395 and 375/9. So that’s all I’m expecting. Providing the 375 has a decent bit of track length, I’ll be happy, but I don’t know where the 375/9 runs in real life. I like the Electrostar.

The 395 ‘javelin’ units run from St Pancras Int’l (STP) to Faversham (FAV).

The 375/9 electrostars (which are my favourite train) run between Dover Priory and London Victoria so we would be getting:

The 375 will be able to run between Faversham and Rochester on the route, with services running from Victoria to either Ramsgate (either then turning around back through Faversham or onto Dover) or via Canterbury to Dover
The passenger units that run from the Medway area to Gravesend and onto London Bridge are all 700s, or if DTG set the route a few years back before Thameslink too that route over, 465/466s

    It's basically a U loop.
St. P. to Faversham and Margate.
Margate Ramsgate back to St. P. on the Ashford line.
    And vice versa.
Sometimes single set and sometimes double.

    That was the old system.
Haven't been on for a while.

Not correct, NTP and WSR have layers as well. But the UK content is less re-useable.

Now this is interesting. The stats for the 465 have now entered the steamdb which means we are probably getting it not long after the release of SEHS:

Also worth noting that's it's the 465/9 version thats coming with this add-on. Now for how long it will be between the release of SEHS and this we will see.

That's very interesting, I'm really surprised they would choose to release the Loco DLC so soon after the initial route is released. I would've thought the 313 at least would've been before it, since it was in production on the roadmap a lot sooner.

DTG have said repeatedly on stream :
    • The order that things appear on the roadmap is not indicative of their release date
    • They concentrate on batches of things they're working on so if they're working on a route they will release fixes, DLC etc for that route or collection all at the same time

From those two it seems to me that they may have found some more dev time and therefore brought the 465 forward a bit. Who knows (or is going to complain if) it may be released at the same time as the main route DLC

  49. Mattty May

    Mattty May Guest

DTG said there will be a lot of releases in a relatively short space of time. Hence we’ll soon get the next list of future releases on the roadmap.

Assuming the line ends at Northfleet, what commuter services can we really drive along the route?

There are no Northfleet to Faversham through services irl, but instead Northfleet to Gillingham. Which is 12 miles/30 mins.

Seems very little, especially for an extra DLC.
