Now i know it would be weird for an online mode but here me out. Say if we get a multiplayer option there would be a passenger mode and Driver mode.Server would be based on where you live.10 people max for driver and 30 people max for passenger mode so the frames won't be so bad.People should take this game mode serious because people would have to be aware of trains ahead of them and look out for the signal light, when to slow down,go,and stop.Adding this would make the game more realistic and fun.Now for the passenger mode, players should pick a station where they want to spawn and should be patience for the train to come and not wonder around,People should make it feel like your in real life and wait for a train to come .I have many more things that can make the game better feel free to comment your thoughts.
I think multiplayer would be a cool and welcome feature. This has been on the cards for 4 years when matt said that is was coming but it has not come yet. Maybe it'll come this year or next year
The multiplayer modes that should be included in the multiplayer should be (UK railway terminology used) - Max 20 players per route on a dedicated server so that no one's console is processing the whole environment for players. Driver mode - Allow full driving of locos and units. Signaller mode - Allows for up to 2 players to control a section of the line to route trains, allowing for full use of the signalling system, would be based within the map mode of the game, with the signaller able to set routes for trains to go on, signals etc. Just in case a driver misses his/her AWS or DSD. Passenger mode - Allows for players to sit and enjoy their mates driving them about. Each player has the option to start from a station or depot when the server launches, but the route runs the full 24 hour timetable and you can drop in and out at any time.
like this idea but something like world of subway 3 when your operating the london underground and their signals when you have to wait to the other trains leave the station
I have to say I've long been wanting this to come about and I am still eagerly anticipating its much welcomed arrival. I am loving the ideas of how it could work, my question though is if you don't have a particular route and your mate does and you want to play with your mate how would that work out? Because I know that with Microsoft Flight Sim if you were flying a purchased dlc that your mate didn't have then your mate would not be able to actually see what you were flying. I love the idea of say 20 or 30 players on a server in these different modes.
The one who doesn't have the route, buys the route, then they both have the route... No other "working out" required on that one.
I think there would have to be a rule with Multiplayer that if somebody SPADed, then they would be removed from the game, not the whole game collapse. Therefore, it is not going to take one little [insert word for inconsiderate person] to ruin a simulation...
I love the Bryer’s ideas because it would allow for custom Timetabling and custom simulations I think that maybe it should be cross platform because otherwise it may be quite difficult to find sufficient players...
I think too but theirs lots of people who plays this game so think about it 50-100 people in a map/server the fps would drop so much when theirs more then one train passing each other or more then one train entering one station
That shouldn't happen with a dedicated server, as the server would process everything and just send data to each player's console.
Definitely. Driver, Signaller, Guard and Passenger modes. Possibly for both versions (Multiplayer and singleplayer) That is a railway simulator!
I feel like that could be a thing for pc but what about console next gen in out now i feel like next gen and current gen shouldn't be together in a server due to the different futures from the console their can be a seprate thing for next gen console and current gen console and for pc the idea you said
Depends on how its done. Effectively the server would only ever need to synchronise data and transmit changes so timestamp, location, change The end points then update what they're showing So the limitations would be more of the nature of data transfer than whether the console slows down too much. Unles we're talking consist overload of course, but there aren't that many places where you can fit that many moving consists in game
The issue with "shared experiences" isn't the revision but how the transfer of data is managed between people, between hardware types and with a similar experience. If they can do it and control it on PC, xbox and PS then all well and good They seem to be working towards that with sharing of scenarios from the Q&A stream but we'll see what 2021 brings
Maybe, but I think it would be on the roadmap would it not? When did he say that he would announce what it is?
They have the assets for the GEML from Train Simulator original. The only issue you've got is that the rolling stock they had for it is now no longer used, and has been replaced with 745/755/720s. You could possibly get away with 360's, 90's and DVT with MK3's and the 321's.
It’s heartwarming to think that when Matt was talking about multiplayer back in 2017 that it would only be a mere 10 years before it finally arrived.
The online multiplayer mode is what would take this game to a much higher level, I think it is a very required option for many players. Other famous simulators such as flight simulators offer these options and it is incredible how the game evolved to another level. Multiplayer would be very cool, of course, with some more optimization
