In Quick Drive I have a whole raft of 377s and I have no idea which is which. Besides the 377/1, 377/2, 377/3, which I understand, there are sub-categories, such as (PDE) and (V). What are those sub-categories?

I think 377/3 are 3 coach units as opposed to 4.

Not sure about 1 and 2. If you have 377/5, which does exist in the game, it is equipped with a pantograph.

The 377 (PDE) was also released with the Waterloo - Portsmouth Route as they cover the Havant - Portsmouth section
The 377 (V) came with the Chatham Mainline route and there is a Variant folder but i don't know the difference between these 377 units and the others that also come with the route(s)?

If you're not pedantic about being prototypical then I think the only difference in train sim is number of carriages, except for the pantographs on top of the 377/5 (I believe the FCC 377 is the only quick drive consist for this).

I'm pretty sure the 375 and 377 models on the game are all identical except for liveries and destinations on the electronic board.

PDE - Just means Portsmouth Direct Extension (but both that and Chatham have the V, the Portsmouth one is just a copy of the Chatham Main Line version of the 377 )
The 377/1 (V) is a variant to the lights at the front - 377101 - 139 and 140 to 164 had different lights at the front (so the V is the latter variant :) )

    377101 - https://flic.kr/p/GQjfc2
    377140 - https://flic.kr/p/aZwXk6

The 377/3 doesn't have a pantograph (Only the /2 & / 5 (and also /7 which also runs the Milton Keynes services but those ones are closer to Class 387s )

The outside shell is the same but there are some differences inside the train too (mostly minor but there are differences to the hand rails, some internal doors and the lighting on the front of the train :) )
