The route would be gigantic if they added it as an extension. The only extension I can see them adding is the Sherness Branch, and the Medway Valley Line. I honestly think the Main Line would become its own route.
SEHS / CML doesn't link up with KML at all, the link is MVL between Strood and Paddock Wood I mean I would happily see them "make kent" as an entire system which wouldn't be hard given you'd only need a 170, 73 and maybe a 92 to complete all the trains currently operating on the entire county system (not already mentioned in the post above), but a 400 mile system in TSW2? I think we're dreaming
I don't like the look of the front, the seats are awful (spending over an hour on them from Gillingham to London Bridge kills your backside) the motor noises are annoying and the light on top that never switches off bugs me too, I know it's so the camera on top can run catenary checks but there's no catenary in Kent... Switch it off!
I would’ve thought that Thameslink is for more shorter journeys around the London-Area, and that people wouldn’t normally spend over an hour on the train. Also, it might differ to certain people. I agree with the Traction Motor noise being annoying though.
Wouldn't Thameslink be more intended for shorter commuter rail services/journeys around the London Metropolitan area. I guess the seats can be uncomfortable since they are not intended to be sat for a hour long journey. It could also vary from person to person as well
Nope, Thameslink runs the Rainham to Luton service which has 30 odd stops over two hours, and anyone going from London Bridge or Central London out to Chatham or Medway who doesn't want to have to pay the premium of SEHS would have to use it as the metro services done by SE are all stoppers so take over an hour to do 30 miles, at least the TL is a semi fast service after Charlton so it's just under an hour to Gravesend They also runt the Brighton services with the same units, and those are an hour from Brighton to London Bridge (again with that damn light on the whole way on third rail)
Ohh i see. This reminds me of the MTA Long Island Railroad and the MTA Metro-North Railroad. Some lines on those railroads take an hour or more to get from start to end. At least the seats on the m7, m7a and m9 are comfy. The m3 and m3a, not so much. I'm glad they got rid of the m3 on lirr.
Metro-North is meant for those long journeys from Grand Central/125 St - New Haven/Yonkers though, so the seats almost NEED to be comfortable, especially with any delays in service making the trip longer than it should be.
Most people traveling from Chatham or Rochester will be traveling on Southeastern to London Victoria though. Again most London to Brighton passengers will be traveling on Southern not Thameslink. They are a damn sight better than the TfL units that work out to Reading, which are more uncomfortable than underground stock
I find it best not to assume anything. Your assumption rules out anyone travelling to the East of Central London. One of the busiest trains I've been on from Gillingham stops at Chatham, Rochester and then fast via Chiselhurst to Cannon Street. Not everyone wants to go into West Central London and then back on themselves... I didn't find the purple trains that bad, but only on it from Hayes and Harlington to Paddington and that's not that far (or didn't seem to be)
There are trains out of Dartford like that, they stop at all stations, and I mean every, single, one... Takes about an hour to do 28 miles and they're always stuffed when they get in (at the peak) At least the TL is semi fast
If you don't mind something like £25 per hour to park at the other end London's expensive, although you can park for nothing on Sundays on the red routes, which is always good
I would love this route in Train Sim World. Hoping to drive 12 car 375s and 10 car 465/466s, maybe. Depending on the services.
If you ask me SEHS needs to go to Charing Cross or another London Termini for the 375s, and if they Added either of these in this route (which is a fabulous idea by the way) it would be an easy update to SEHS, love the idea!
I love the idea. (500/10). It would be a perfect route for Tran Sim World 2. Hope it is added in the future. Keep up the good work
