Just dropped on YouTube, APs latest pack is on preview... And a good long preview it is (about 45 mins)
Will definitely be purchasing this as soon as possible. Good to see AP releasing some slam door stock, hopefully he may produce some more DMU's and EMU's of that period. I was assuming the next AP release would be something more modern.
Looks good. When AP released their Mk1 Coach pack I dropped them a line suggesting the Mk1s would be a basis for a 411/2 4CEP. They replied they didn't have plans for it. Maybe they'll do a second unrefurbished version. This is definitely on my Wish List.
Yes this does look great, the icing on the cake for me would be to have an actual guard standing at the guards door.
LOCO?... LOCO? It is an Electric Multiple Unit dear boy, or EMU in the trade. I'll be keeping an eye on AP every hour, on the hour.
Ha, it is indeed, and something to look forward to I keep checking back hoping it's going to drop this evening, I think the 317 turned up sometime between 6 and 8, so the same might be true this time around - well, here's hoping, AP home page and F5 key at the ready! EDIT: The suspense is killing me.
It appears they've modeled a passenger view for every part of the train. I don't think we've had that before?
Nice eye candy but a drain on resources perhaps? How much time do we spend in the passenger seat. I mean, I've spent many an hour commuting from Hastings to Charing X. But it will be nostalgia for me to run it on the excellent Tonbridge-Hastings route from BackDatedTrainSim. https://backdatedtrainsim.weebly.com/route-downloads.html
I'm soooo looking forward to this. Never bought anything outside of steam before but I'll be making an exception in this case if I have to!
That can be dangerous. Once you start buying AP content you won't look back. The same applies to other quality 3rd party devs. My money is on it being released Thurs/Friday this week. Now if only AP would do a 4COR and a 4SUB.
Don't think there are passengers Peter, didn't for the thumper and the reason given was resources. It is a lovely upgrade to the tired-looking sets from DtG.
It is a shame the CML isn't quite accurate for the period for this unit as it seems the best fit for it. I know at the end of their lives they did get spread around a little more but from what I can gather they spend most of their lives on the Kent Coast. It looks very good and I will get it at some point.
From what I've seen it was Kent Coast and the SWML, with the 450s and 444s replacing them in the early 2000s
I was pleased to find a Class 412 on a Waterloo - Portsmouth working on 29 November 2004 Seen at Fratton Peter
Looks amazing. It’s even got windscreen fly splatter like the 205 Seems like I’ll have to reach for my card again. I got a lot of bargains from AP in the sale, so don’t begrudge paying full price.
I'm pretty sure they also used to go from Victoria down to the coast. I remember taking them from East Croydon to Eastbourne via Lewes when I was a kid, and I think they were around Worthing area too.
Just had my first foray on the 411. It’s certainly very different from the 37 and 40 I’ve been driving the last week! Another amazing production from AP.
I've been having a go with this today and apart from a little bit of flickering around the aws reset button it seems very good indeed, so good in fact I thought I could smell it at one point. I can see me spending way too many hours driving this.
Does anyone else have issues with no ‘hand’ appearing on the brake, so you can’t operate it ‘manually’, and have to use the keyboard?
I don't think it has a click spot for the brake controller. I like the roller blind handles, but would have much preferred a clickable brake. Maybe AP will release an update for this.
On my second try with it today, there was no click spot for the throttle either. Had to use A and D. I don’t know it this is a glitch, but noticed one open door after leaving a station. It closed a few minutes later.
That is the Guards Door and with it opening inwards it would not be a problem with it being open but it would not run like that Did you get two from the guard before departure?
I think so, but I was just trying it out, rather than doing things properly, so that could well be the explanation.
I have looked in the store for this addon and do not see it. Is this a UK only one and not available in the US?
You buy it directly from a third party website, Sharon, so it’s not on the Steam store: https://www.armstrongpowerhouse.com...it2/class_411_412_electric_multiple_unit_pack
Just a heads up - Armstrong Powerhouse still use an archaic .msi install procedure that leaves files the same size that you have downloaded on your computer. These are unnecessary files that take up a lot of space and should be deleted. They are to be found in "C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Local\Downloaded Installations" where C:\ is the location that you have Windows installed.
Cheers, will have a look. I desperately need to reclaim some space. Every time I run an AP .exe, I have to bypass Windows security dialogue.
Thanks Peter just reclaimed 15.7GB . Only downside, it made me realise just how much I had spent with AP since lockdown. Upside they are worth every penny spent. LOL Thanks again for the tip.
Well I've substituted the 411 for the EMU in a scenario, trying out the "cold start" variant. The handbrake foxed me for a moment, but it has a lock you have to release before the wheel will turn.
Me too. This is definitely a READ THE MANUAL jobby before diving in. I spent 15mins at London Victoria trying to get this thing to move, and the only the one brain cell left said "RTFB" Thinking this is not German so RZB, SIFA, LZB don't come into the equation. Then it dawned on me. Read The LOVE*ing Book Now I Love it
I printed out the parts of the manual about cold starts and driving, and it didn’t mention about a handbrake lock at all. I was on the point of ‘calling a friend’ on this good forum, when I read through the manual again, to look for any clues in the picture, and low and behold there’s reference to a handbrake lock. When you look again at the handbrake in the cab, and zoom in, the lock is pretty obvious. I guess it was the first time I’d come across it and I wasn’t expecting it. It doesn’t tell you how to undo it through, but luckily just hovering the mouse over it and clicking works (forgot to try ‘/‘ as used for the Class 40).
