Following on from a few days ago from the Great Western 1970's stats being added to the steamdb (and the reaction it has since got) another add-on has now got it's stats added to the steamdb. This time it's the Arosa Line from Rivet Games: Something tells me we are about to get a lot of DLC's coming out within the next few weeks/months. Source: https://steamdb.info/app/1282590/history/?changeid=U:21163662
Oh that's bad. Please don't rush this route as IOW. But considering how much time of marketing before release passed for IOW, is probably going to be 2/3 months...
Right. But we don't know when they started the development. Maybe the already have been developing it for much longer than just after IOW was released. Maybe they have like DTG a few delevopment teams.
According to the roadmap updates, this route has been in production since the middle/end of the November last year.
Looking forward to this Generally when a dlc's achievements go into steam it means that it goes into upcoming on the next roadmap, so it should be interesting to see the roadmap tomorrow. There was a slightly longer time though between Isle of Wight achievements and its release (just over a month I believe), which probably means it spent more time in DTG Q&A - being a third party this isn't surprising as more console testing might be necessary if Rivet themselves don't have a way to do this, and the Q&A team have to communicate with Rivet rather than someone else in DTG.
So we have 465, BR Blue pack and this packed closely after one another? Sam also mentioned Clinchfield being close to finished on Friday... looks like a FEB/MAR storm.
Arosa is my most wanted DLC. It’ll be my most local line and the one I’ve been on most in real life. So I really hope Rivet have done a good job. Generally I have found on TS2021, they have been quick to respond to bugs. But I did get a bit disillusioned with them on IOW. It’s a nice route and after the fixes, it’s a lot better. But I still can’t get one of the gold medals on a scenario and Rivets response was that it should be possible. I was bored at that point so just gave up. Fingers crossed that Arosa will be a good one.
Sam did suggest on one of the streams that a lot of content is going to come in quick succession. This is one of the reasons new routes/DLC will be appearing on the roadmap within the next few weeks.
So I'm guessing it's safe to assume the routes on the current roadmap will be the only ones we get till at least August/September? Considering they can take 6+months from planning to release.
This will be an interesting one as the route will really test the TSW2 system's bad draw distances with the alpine valleys on the route. This could end up looking great or, probably more likely unfortunately, really, really poor.
Oh wow. I don't know if this means Arosa release is near, but I'm looking forward to it. It'd be the very first TSW route featuring some real mountains. Curious to see the Arosabahn will look in TSW's engine.
Clinchfield (that is the DTG one right?) will be released in one to two months, then Hamburg Lübeck in 3 to 4 months, and they are surely already working on the next routes (just not yet ready to tell us which), so there will likely be no large gap I would expect.
I hope you're right. My understanding was, if its not on the roadmap it's not being worked on. Yes there's the occasional exception but If they're planning on doing a new route I'd expect it to be in the planning section. Perhaps in the next couple of roadmaps, we'll see this.
To be honest, the roadmap does not work that way. You should understand it as "What is on the roadmap is stuff we are actually definitively working on". Thats it, point, nothing else. Things like PIS, level crossings and such have never been on the roadmap, and yet they appeared. So the sentence "when it is not on the roadmap we are not working on it" is kind of wrong and misleading the same goes for new routes, they are surely working on them, maybe not in a sense of putting stations and tracks in, but definitively doing all the research and such they need.
Talking about Isle of Wight, has anything significant has been changed on it yet? I know they finally added arrival times for the timetable and fixed a few bugs, but is there cab sway, for example? Anyway looking forward for this route. I usually don't care about Swiss stuff, but this would be the first narrow gauge line for TSW and it's a really scenic route. So currently it's a so-so in my eyes, probably will buy it based on whether it's released in good quality or not.
Oh god, please people try to tame expectations. The draw distance/shadow issues with TSW are going to be in full force....an Alpine route is a recipe for disaster haha
That's what I'm worried about the most as well. Though Sand Patch Grade is pretty okay looking. Not perfect, but probably the best looking distant scenery out of all TSW routes. Maybe they can pull off something similar.
That's the whole point of the "In Planning" section. I did say there are exceptions, it'll be the small things that perhaps they can quickly do. Big projects that they are definitely doing should be on the roadmap even if it's research.
Am I missing something? I’ve scoured the page linked to but can’t see any reference to these changes relating to the Arosa line. Is this solid information or inspired guesswork from names of scenarios (e.g. Alpine Performance) that might or might not relate to it?
Woot! This is great news. I love their TS map and I am preordering this as soon as the put it in the store
It’s plastered with ARL and the GE44/II, there’s also no other alpine route in production, that can be abbreviated to ARL & includes the GE44/II.
That's the TS version. Notice the sky box which is TS and the Thomson Interactive logo on the clock in the bottom left. Thomson was part of the original TS route, but aren't doing TSW2.
The mountains to the left look interesting, google overlay textures maybe? Alright, I just see above they said it's the TS version.
look at those TSx mountains and think of them in either LOWER resolution or covered in 2D trees and there we have it.
Just want to mention that rivet games confirmed, there will be a freight car as well with the route. I'm very hyped! https://rail-sim.de/forum/thread/35075-tsw2-rvg-arosa-line/?pageNo=2
I wouldn’t necessarily expect separate freight services. It’s quite likely these will be freight wagons attached to passenger trains as happens on the real line. Would be nice if there are separate services.
I just looked up some pictures of along the railway and it is absolutely stunning, all the trees and high mountains, the bridges... Unfortunately I am now very afraid as to how it will look in TSW, knowing that the game is already ressource heavy, this might be the biggest challenge yet. Of course I can fully understand if they have to make sacrifices to distant scenery, but hopefully the route will capture the feel. And on a side note, I hope that the 35kmh track speed are not a dissatisfying factor (for me) as I could not be bothered to play west somerset full runs with the low track speed...
I hope it's gonna be amazing. This is one of the best looking routes in Train Simulator. Looking forward to see it in TSW.
I think the 35 km/h will look faster on narrow gauge and there are also quite harsh curves, wich a normal train wouldnt be able to go trough. Of course 35 km/h on a straight track is very boring, but i think If your train is slowly making its way up the mountain, it wont be.
Rivet posted this to show that off-the-rails works, but of course looks a bit wrong. Nevermind. I'm happy that at this stage of development they give us the freedom to still use the off-the-rails mode. This is a BR 204 on the Arosa.
Gorgeous looking route. I just hope that Rivet can nail the scenery. I looked at their ts version and was saddened by the way the scenery ended very close to the tracks with grassy mountains in the background. Would love it if they do a good job.
Yea, that's not really their fault. Limitation of the way the TS1 engine draws scenery tiles plus I believe the route was from before TS1 went 64-bit so there were much greater memory limitations. The problem is TSW has it's own well documented problems with LOD on distant scenery as well as shadows on anything not in front of your face that could limit the route in a similar way.
