Wow, looks very impressive. Some great locos, beautiful scenery and wonderful history! Definitely has that quintessential American railroad feel.

I don't usually care about American railroads, but that article was really fantastic to read, it seems like an interesting route with a lot of things to do, particularly the branch lines, maybe I'll follow this more closely than what I initially thought.

Hopefully we will see some of those 4-6-6-4 in the future

I got one honest word to say: Really! (with the Images, not the article itself, which both of them are not bad)

Just want to confirm that this is the Train Sim World forum, not the We Are Railfans forum right?
This is a good article, but we are Train Sim World players, we are waiting for how does this route performs in the game, not how does this looks like in reality. I have to say this is a good article and there are many good photos as well, but this is really not appropriate for a TSW2 "article." As Nina says,

You can just look it up somewhere we don't need a running history. Most players would prefer to see the development of the route not a history.

It's probably too early to get any meaningful screenshots.

The reason for the article to exist is (probably) partly, to inform us european peasants what is the fuss all about for this "Clinchfield", also tells you why, in their opinion it's reasonable to only go between Elkhorn and Dante (instead of going further like the TS DLC), it gives us an idea of the rolling stock (locos and cars), gives us a time period represented and also tells you there are 27 miles of branch lines + main line, also gives us an indication of what kind of trains operate there.

Every piece of information is always welcome.

Probabily the route at this stage is just some track over some terrain... we have no idea about whether they even started to build the scenery yet

Wait, so are we getting this route set in Present Time or in the 1970's, ala Northern Trans Pennine?

    Exactly we don't know...
What we know is they have 2 different teams, one does the tracks and signalling, the other does the scenery, so for all we know the tracks and signals might be 100% done without any scenery (although it's very unlikely) Placeholder.jpg
Screenshots like this are good for the technical articles but would not be too good for a route showcase

Id much prefer reading the development of the route as opposed to its history which we can all look up and research ourselves.

OK, to be quite honest this route doesn't sound like my cup of tea so I wouldn't be surprised how this route turns out.

I’m pretty sure that the route is still in production and it’s too early to get any footage of gameplay or any screenshots, so this is why they’re holding them off for later, perhaps we’ll see the first screenshots and gameplay by the end of February, or after the next roadmap.

The route will be set about 50 years ago.

For those of you who are looking forward to seeing in game screenshots we have plenty more articles planned for the future. This is for users who would like a little more detail about the history of the route itself.

Considering the playerbase is split 33/33/33 for consoles and PC, and it would be relatively safe to assume neither the PS nor xbox crowd played TS it would not be unreasonable to have some redundant information between the two sims... why even talk about the fact that there is TVM in SE HS then... we all knew that already.

Such things can be wonderfully integrated into the game - the console only players would also benefit. But unfortunately they don't do that.

I hope we will see all this variety of services & rolling stock there. Not only The Heart of the Clinchfield :) DLCs allowed!
    35 + 27 = 62 miles
It is not the same as long, but still spacious. Cool.
    :)

Great pictures, Mr. Dolzall. I would like DTG to capture this characteristic atmosphere. I don't have Clinchfield for TS, so I shouldn't criticize too much, but I'll give it a try - I don't see it on numerous videos. But I don't have this DLC. I can be very wrong.

I was expecting to see more about the game but that's not a complaint. It's a nice surprise anyway. It whetted my appetite a lot :D

US freight trains have their own specificity. Full heritage. From a pragmatic point of view, the aura of images makes us see long and heavy trains, majestic and pompous, drowsily moving towards their destination. Sometimes TSW manages to capture that unique mood:
SPG U877-A/B/C/D, yeah. I hope to get such experiences on the occasion of this premiere.

The scenery will be of great importance here. I don't want to be afraid :D

    Just can't wait \o/

PS My expectations are premeditatedly ULTRA high!

Even though I was a bit dissapointed that there were no screenshots, I don't actually mind reading some background and history about the route. It's a nice way to show what atmosphere you're trying to replicate.

Personally I'm not in the business and I really like having this kind of crispy info and detail on roads under construction.
The in-game photos can show us what we'll get in the game ok, but the “real photos” give us an “feel” of what the road was like back then.
I like this way of doing things, DTG just took me to the USA with this article, it makes me want to buy it even more.
I also have TS but I did not buy the DLC at the time, I think I finally did well since it will now be on TSW2, at least I will not be disappointed as I do not know the route .
I also think that they are right to write this kind of article before the release rather than showing us pictures of the game, it makes us want to be on the road anyway for those like me who do not know the USA and the road.
I hope there will be more on the other roads to come.
I am very impatient to ride this road now even more thanks to this article.

Can't believe people are complaining about learning stuff.

Not to mention, if you actually read it, there's quite a bit of info about the TSW2 route itself: mainline length, included branches and length, confirmation of the time period, confirmation of a CABOOSE.

Personally i like the historical info- didn't realize Clinchfield had so much manifest traffic in addition to all the coal hauling- hope we get this in the game as well.

I'd like to see these historical background articles for all upcoming routes tbh.

Me too. Especially F7 and first gen SD40, the caboose, the coal hoppers and perhaps other freight cars, the loading services and the nice Appalachian landscape.

Good God. Whatever DTG do, there are moaners. Enjoy the article or don’t bother with it and leave it for the rest of us to enjoy. The route isn’t out yet so there is plenty of time to tempt us with screenshots when they are ready.

No doubt if there were screenshots, someone would moan that a tree is in the wrong place or that the sky is slightly the wrong shade of pink.

I really liked this article TBH. Learned something new about this route and so far there are some very promising features mentioned to be in the TSW2. It's a shorter route, but a TON of branches meaning a lot of different activities. I like SPG, but it's basically just "go 2 hours one way or the other + shunting". This MIGHT (we'll see how well it's done) have a really good variety of tasks, and if I imagine correctly, it will be the most branched route in the whole game.

ALSO CABOOSE!!! (There will be liveries... there will be MANY liveries)

So please, please, please, PLEASE... DTG... do NOT mess it up! Don't SEHS this!!! I really want this route to be great now!

Can you explain us, for heaven, where is absent section Dante-St. Paul? Why did you cut it? Why don't we get this route as in TS edition? First information about upcoming CRR appeared in August or September last year, if I'm not mistaken, and you can't say us "we didn't have enough time to recreate original TS version". So what's the reason of such desicion? Please, tell us.

Excellent article. I really like TSW2 and and I've enjoyed general RR history for years and thoroughly enjoyed reading about the vast history the CRR. Reminded me very much of the famed Delaware, Lackawanna and Western Railroad (DL&W), very much known for it's Pocono mountains anthracite coal (cleaner coal burning, than most bituminous varieties). This is the featured RR at the National Steamtown Historic Site, in Scranton PA.

Late 1970s early 1980s sounds like the perfect time to experience this railroad! As a big fan of USA freight, I am very excited for this route, the 35 mile main line and the 27 miles worth of branch lines has me very excited for the experience this could be and we even get out first caboose. Service mode for this route is destined to have some really unique and fun services. Can’t wait to learn more!
