OK I am always crying out for more BR blue and the period relate so forgive my bias but I really hope this is a 70s/80s route for more interesting stock i.e.303 with both cab window variants (blue train) 311 and even a bit 318 to a lesser degree. I would also be interested to see what would be packaged re freight locos i.e. chance to see a proper all new loco from the period e.g. Class 24-27 or Class 21.

When do you think the best period would be? Or where do you think DTG should go with this?

It's the -R7 part of DTG's code for the Cathcart Circle, the '7' indicates post 2011.

I hope for a modern route. We have enough Br blue trains and routes.

Horses for courses and it makes sense to try and accommodate as many people as possible, and we have a fair balance of both atm. To be honest, if UK releases for the next 24 months turned out to be very 1947-1999 Id be a happy bunny, but thats unrealistic and not going to suit everyone, but neither would all modern stock.
The beauty is with my fave time period you can have a potential crossover with both Steam -we obvs know this is on the cards- and modern obvs its the time frame in the middle and can potentially cater for a broader spectrum of customer -read potentially more likely to be made.

It says 7 on the Roadmap so I’m thinking 2015+

We have 3 packs with a 4th coming whereas there's 7 non-blue packs with an 8th coming but OK.

This will be a modern route which I think is a good think. It'll probably come with the class 380 and 385. Maybe the 314 but they don't run on the route anymore so I doubt that. Modern routes are more popular than historic routes and I think we already got enough br blue content. So I'm glad this will be a modern route

I have no clue what kind of trains to expect on this route, and I'm not familiar with the route itself either. I'm curious to see if it brings anything new, or is just yet another UK route offering more of the same.

What!?! Really!?! There are just 2!

Compare that to modern German routes? Modern UK routes?

    Seriously? We have the 08, 09, 20, 31, 33, 37, 45, 47, 52, 101. Thats 10 ‘old’ UK trains.

    We have the 66, 166, HST, 375, 377, 395 and 465 coming. That’s 7 new UK trains.

The 1938 and 1972 could be classed as both new and old as they are both still in service with modern liveries in the game.

    10 old versus 7 new.

Current stock on the line is a mix of 320’s/380’s/385’s and formerly 314’s. Hopefully it’s set around a few years ago so the 314’s are still included.

Interesting suburban/commuter line, looking forward to seeing Glasgow Central!

Hopefully both branchlines to Neilston/Newton are included? Otherwise the Circle alone is a not really very extensive!

    The line divides after Glasgow Central, one branch of the Circle goes to;

    • Pollokshields East
    • Queens Park
    • Crosshill
    • Mount Florida
    • Cathcart
    Cathcart West Junction

    And

    • Pollokshields West
    • Maxwell Park
    • Shawlands
    • Pollokshaws East
    • Langside
    Cathcart West Junction

At Cathcart West Junction the two halves of the circle join in effect, so the two branches above form the Cathcart Circle, however also at Cathcart West Junction, the line divides to Newton or Neilston.

As I said, hopefully it’s more than just the circle alone which is a 30 min journey.

The current TT has an mixture of inner and outer circle services that just do the circle alone (stations above) both clockwise and anti-clockwise, with extensions to Neilston and Newton via both routes.

    Here’s a map that Scotrail produced;

So techincally there are 13 old trains. The hst came out in the 70s and the 38 and 72 stock are old trains. That means we only have 5 new u.k trains. 375,377,395, 66 the 465. You could argue 3 since the 66 and the 465 came out in the 90s

Yes, and I also referenced UK routes. The problem being? And I certainly don't have a problem with German routes either, as I own all of them.

I think people tend to classify a train as "old" if it was built under BR, so presumably in 1997 the 165s were suddenly ancient or something.

I’m really hoping for modern era with 320 and 385 - maybe the 314 too.

They are not ancient but they are old trains depending on your view of old vs new

I suspect it depends on the age of the person posting. There are many things that to me are in my memory but to someone else were 25 years before they were born and are ancient history to them.

The player intel shows I think that German players prefer modern more than British players, who are more partial to older routes than the German players are. That doesn't mean German players don't like old routes or British players don't like modern routes, but the relative preference is in that area and so, therefore, is the content produced.

btw, here's the mileage for those who care (photo from one of my BR timetables - this was dated 1992, and it appears there's). Mileage in the second column runs via Mount Florida, so Kings Park is 1/2 a mile from Cathcart.
Here's a context map I nicked from Wikipedia:

Since it was referenced - with the exception of Germany there is a very strong correlation between the age of the player and the era of the route. In Germany, there is a major bias toward modern rail regardless of the age of the player.

Obviously exceptions exist but that's what every piece of research we have demonstrates.

With the BR 70s pack for GWE, perhaps there will be room for a 70s/80s pack in the future for Cathcart Circle, too :)

So presumably that's SR Saltire without markings on the doors, as I don't think they carried the first 2 SR liveries, unless it's SPT Rail?
