Updated Rules: This is not associated with the official screenshot competition nor is it associated with DTG. This is simply a fun contest where we can show off our screenshots that contain 3rd party payware, freeware, re-skins etc. The only prize is the freedom to choose the next week's theme. Avoid arguments keep it fun. Rules: - Screenshot should be in someway (can be very tenuous) linked to a theme. Otherwise anything goes. - You can enter up to 3 screenshots, posted as separate posts. You can delete and replace if you wish. - Entries to be submitted by 9pm Friday (GMT). - Previous week's winner to decide winner (can't enter themselves). - The winner chooses the new theme for next week (and becomes the new judge). Rules will evolve over time through collective agreement. As there is no previous week's winner, I will decide this week's theme (and be the king-maker in the event of a tie). This week's theme is foreign intruder (i.e. rolling stock on a route that you wouldn't expect to see them).
Just to give this thread another chance. Hopefully the bump helps Not particularly competing, just participating in giving you some matching photos. I don't 3rd party either, not clear it's mandatory or allowed. 1) I got the BR Class 111 from a friend and I was running Fort Kent to Eagle Lake at the time. 2) I like its lakeside mood, brings childhood memories. 3) I like Ohio Steel's mix of rolling fields, forests, patches, farms and villages. 4) Fall colours are really nice, if you can look past the 2D. The train is Network Southeast Class 205. I usually stick to the continent, though.

A South Eastern Class 411 "Jaffa Cake" passes a BR Class 50 and a DB BR232 Ludmilla which is on trial loan to BR to help with their Motorail sevice to London.
I nearly posted this in the Freestyle week of the official comp. There is no 3rd Party used but just feels only right to share it here. There are Railtours, then there are RAILTOURS. A Western Pacific EMDF7 gives way to A4 Mallard on one heck of a railtour on the Keddie Y bridges on the Feather River Canyon Route.
Well done for the entries guys. Let's say no more entries after 9pm on Friday, at which point I'll add a poll and close the poll on Sunday at 9pm. Really enjoying the interpretation of the theme - hopefully we can have a bit of fun with some of the themes we choose (i.e. ones that'll never get chosen for the DTG contest). I'll post my own entry/entries at some point.
I think to make it manageable, should we put a limit of 2 or 3 entries per person? Forces people (like me!) to chose their best shots instead of posting a dozen and hoping one will win.
I Agree, Max 3 posts per person, sounds good. Also seperate posts for each image so we can vote on each image as opposed to a selection in one posting. Just a thought but how about the winner of "Week X" gets to chose the winner of "Week Y" Just thinking about the folks that post on Sat / Sun (start of week) have more chance of getting Likes than the Guy that posts last thing Friday Night with 1/2 hr to go?
I'm happy with both a limit of 3 shots per person and for the winner of the previous round to choose the winner (i.e. no public vote) if there is a consensus to do so. If that is agreed, I'll pick these week's winner (in which case I won't make.any entries myself). That would also mean when somebody does win, they can't enter the following week.
Well I was going to attach a poll and not do it based on likes and have poll voting over the weekend. It would also mean it doesn't matter if people put their 2 or 3 shots in one post. There might not be that many options I can put in a poll, so it might mean only 1 shot per contestant if it's very popular. Would people prefer a poll or just have the previous winner arbitrarily pick the winner?
I don't mind - perhaps the previous winner choosing the new winner is the easiest way, and also something a little different.
I've been waiting for one of these! I was thinking of starting one too. I can't wait to see all the 3rd party content available!
This isn't a particularly well composed shot, but I quickly managed to take a screenshot of this Trans Pennine Express pulling into Edinburgh Waverley. Think it's got rather lost. Included for interest not as a serious contender!
Great effort guys. I'll pick the winner on Friday night and will post Round 2 on Saturday morning, with the winner choosing the new theme. I have a favourite ATM but I can still be influenced...
This one and my last one aren't exactly "foreign intruders", but a slight twist of the theme to things that you would never see. I hope that is okay.
A very tough decision but my gut feeling is that this entry is my favourite. Congratulations to Craigie-C! Your reward is to choose theme for next week's competition and to judge the winner. Would people prefer to post a new thread each time or just keep this thread going?
A worthy winner, I agree Separate threads I'd say. Much easier to have a fresh OP with the rules, and so on. Can have a collection post, linking last X threads. Also easier to find the contestants. If the stickies could be maintained (limited to 2x Official, 2x Unofficial, Official Rules) then it's even better!
My choice for winner too, well done! Since this is still a newish comp, I thought maybe better to keep with the same thread and can do separate down the line (cough), but I don't mind!
Ha! Ha! Cheers guys, chuffed I am. So I get to choose next weeks theme Hmmmmmm............. How about Unusual Consists? I also go with the idea of a new thread each week, I feel it would be easier to keep track of where we are at.
