I do not recognize any of those, but I can recognize a very nice photograph when I see one. Would you happen to know where and when it was taken?
it’s from a book on the history of AC electric trains in Britain. Here’s the uncropped version, with details of where and when.
Lovely bunch of units, I wish they had more recognition in sims and scale modelling I'd love to experience the history of my 'home' line, the GEML. Shame so few of the 1st generation AC units were preserved as well. Edit: also, may I ask what the book is called? I'd be interested in reading it
Sure: It’s actually quite interesting reading about the engineering and mechanical aspects of trains, and real life driving considerations: it adds to your understanding of the simulator version. I’ve certainly enjoyed learning more about the operation of the Woodhead 76s, for example.
I’ve got a few books on AC electrics, but that’s about the only one that includes EMUs. ETA: a little in here, which is a good history of electric traction:
Nice. Thanks mate! I think I might have an idea on some book purchases I'd like to make at some point.
It does say in the caption what's in the line up albeit you have to convert the "AM" classes into their "modern day" terms... Eric
