This is a short demo of the speed set function not working and vanishing from the HUD. It was in use for quite a while and successfully managing the speed. When I set the speed down to the upcoming speed limit it showed the speed change and started slowing down but then went off by itself and vanished from the HUD and I had to take over. The is a clip from my stream this morning. Video demo
Hi, Interestingly on the real units SE have disabled the speedset, it no longer functions and the controls for it have actually been removed and filed down flush with the panel. This is true for the Metcamms and BRELs. The electrostars also have had the speedset disabled, with the Class 375's now having their anti-ice button in it's place. This will only actuate anti-icing on units 375801-375-820 which have an additional anti-ice shoe gear on the PTOSL. That being said it is supposed to function in TSW2 so it seems to be a bug.
From the video, the speedset disengaged when you moved a control (a brake lever?) slightly on your raildriver. The train was decelerating up to that point. This is likely to be a raildriver mapping issue rather than the speedset itself.
Hi stujoy that lever is mapped to the speed set control on Raildriver for the 465/9 so moving it should change the speed (and most of the time does) but this time it vanished. The other lever which would be in the "train brake" is not mapped for this train. Paul
I wonder if it is removed IRL because they don't use the regenerative braking and the speed set needs the regenerative braking to slow down the train. Paul
I don't think that's the reason as the BREL units have had speedsets removed also as has the electrostar fleet, I believe it was down to two main factors: Energy consumtion; less drivers were using coasting as an effective way to maintain time and reduce energy consumption, so energy consumtion was a lot higher using it. There was a higher likelyhood of an incident, whether it be speeding or else; this would be becuase it was very easy to set the speed and switch off so to speak, so overall deemed better again to have the drivers need to keep a constant eye on the speed. That's my understanding based on word of mouth and best guess
Ah, I see. I don’t have the pleasure of a Raildriver myself, being a console player, it’s just something I noticed on the video.
That I could certainly understand. I mentioned in my stream today using it takes away the constant fiddling to keep your speed reasonable and takes away some of the fun of the game and makes you more likely to watch other videos on YouTube while driving - until you hit the buffers or SPAD Paul
Interestingly I drove for an hour today using speedset to go up and down and for the most part it worked. If you slow down slowly it seemed to keep working but if you take it from 70 to 15 it gives up the ghost. Paul
