So kind of the same deal as the name that cab international thread, an alternate version of the Where Am I thread, but for non UK routes.

Ill start off with this one. This structure was originally built in the 1920's, it has since been mostly torn down in the 1990's, but part of it still exists.

Do they not have Daylight in North America?
Apart from a Kettle by that name
Let's post a dark picture which shows a Turntable and some other structure

A turntable in a large dark structure with running lines is almost unique in TS.

Which means it has to be the Norden snow shed and turntable, Donner Pass.

Since continental European routes may be less well known I'll start you off easy with a major station. The route is on Steam.

No, but both it and the What Cab threads are dominated by British stuff, so these threads were created to give the rest of the community a fair chance.

But all the other players did and they kept on serving up minor British stations that would be almost impossible for overseas players to know.

Take your current suggestion of the station being Filton Abbey Wood. I've never heard of that and I've lived in the UK 60 years and only two counties away (assuming it's in the Bristol area)! How is somebody in the US, New Zealand or Germany supposed to know what that station looks like?

Is the OBB 1116 correct for the country this is located in? Since DTG 3D trees are visible in shot it can't be an RSSLO route. As far as I know DTG have only produced one Austrian route (Semmeringbahn), but the track work definitely isn't from that.

Update: the signals and catenary look German, but I don't know which German stations OBB run into. Presumably if they do it will be southern ones like Munich.

The route is by DTG but it is not in Austria - these day the locos go far away from Austria
This picture is at Bremen which is quite far north of the nearest Austrian border (the picture in the game is not on this route)

We have a lot of Portal Structures where the gantry goes over the track but in Germany and Austria they have a lot of this Headspan type

It's not much of a clue if you've never been there or seen pictures of it!

I would be amazed if any of the American users of this board know where it is.

Because I think the OP is based in the US and was hoping for a competition that was accessible to the general worldwide TS community. If people post locations that aren't reasonably well known or can be deduced from clues in the screenshots then the competition will die, or just morph into the closed competition of a handful of people, which is what's happened to the other one.

In what way is an international thread not accessible to the general worldwide TS community? How much more worldwide can it be than "international"?

I'm seriously confused here... what exactly would you call a worldwide TS community accessible version of this thread? What should people be posting?

In post #6 you post a location with an Austrian train, and it was guessed. The person then posts up another location with an Austrian train and all of a sudden it's not fair?

It's not closed... you just mean you don't know the answers. Well, you know what? Most of them I don't either. Not immediately any way. To me the fun is locating them. Determine the route by looking for clues within the image (station colours, furniture, signage etc are good for this), then go hunting. Some I do recognise of course, but not always. No one can recognise every UK station - there are thousands of them! Doing it this way I managed to track down one of the few US locations that are in the original thread despite never having so much as loaded up the route, ever, or having ever been there in reality... and also I initially raised all the same objections you raise in here... then thought "This is silly, I stand as much chance as anyone". (shrug)... turns out that was the case.

How easy do you want these to be exactly? Since when has being accessible to the wider global TS community meant "more American stuff"? LOL If people want that... then say so, or start a US only thread. The OP started an "international" thread as opposed to the UK only one. That's what you appear to have here.

I'm giving up with the "International" section

The place in question is Hamburg-Harburg and it being a major location just outside Hamburg some people might have know
Hamburg-Harburg is a great place for freight and when I went with a mate for 4 hours we saw 39 freight pass thru the station

    Ok, here's something to restart.
I've used the scenario editor to make the bridge components more like the real ones.

IronBladder You complained about not recognising a station with a Signalbox and a large station structure
But we have to identify a bridge in America with no clues apart from it has a SP train passing over it.

It must be near here as it has a SP train

There are clues to the route in the screenshot and the bridge is one of the famous structures on the line. Even if you've never been there or driven it in TS you could use Google to identify it. Have a go.

I'll give no more clues until North America is awake and they've had a chance to play.

If it is a route that people outside the US cannot purchase then it restricts the number of people who might answer.

I think it is Donner Pass (tracks and environment) but I don't own it so I am not familiar with the bridge.

Auburn Ravine Viaduct across I-80, Placer County. Route: Donner Pass.

[edit] having trouble confirming the name... there's a bridge that look very much like that in Placer county though... but there's no 3D on Google earth in that location to confirm properly.

Hm. Is it that no-platform stop (Manasquan) on the outskirts of NJCL?

I think the way this would really work, is to post a picture with the solution with white text, so you have to reveal it -> like this <-
I didn't know Hamburg because I haven't driven it, but I knew both Donner Pass easily, having spent about 150-200 hours there.
This one above, I just drove it in december so I remember. So it's less of a competition and more about reminiscing about places.

Here is my location. Not the best shots, but certainly a curious and interesting landmark.

Seriously this posting answers in white text is lame. I know no one has actually done it yet, but if that starts.. I'm out.

    I'll ask again. Why?

    It's right after the quote.
It's like a puzzle book, where you can think about the solution, and whenever you are done, you turn to the end and check the solution.
I sense a bit of unhappiness about these challenges from all parties involved - either you know it or you don't, it's not like you can find it out by looking hard. It's just a waiting game for someone who has driven the route to show up.
Hence, in my head it's more about sharing interesting or characteristic places. Of course a couple posts later the solution is there anyway, so.

Anyway, it's your thread, your rules. I just gave a suggestion.

By the way, check the text I included ;) Cheekyface me.

I don't even own the route. Doesn't stop me playing. Makes it more interesting if you ask me.

I'll await confirmation before I continue though.. you never know.

Feels like Hamburg-Hannover, but I haven't played that yet but marginally.
Although some assets suggest it's a bit newer, and the advance signal is more like those in Austria.
Unless it's that Pzb route in Canada.
So I guess it's on planet Earth :D
    Nice shot anyway.

The Advance Signal is one of the newer types with a restricted width DB Signal
I though it was on a 4 track somewhere but it is only two
