This issue has been occurring since launch. DTG has mentioned it, however not too sure if they are keen on fixing it sooner or later.
It was addressed for a while in the previous roadmaps. But I don't think it can be found on the current ones. Most likely it's not in their time range right now, but what do I know.

I also experienced this issue in TSW2020 starting with the Class 20. The audio codecs have been said not to work very well on Xbox. It happens a lot more in TSW2.

Yes I sadly get this issue quite often on different routes, Hopefully DTG will find the reason for this bug and can fix it.

I got it while on foot searching for collectables
When it happens while driving I just switch to exterior view and back inside and it's gone
However while on foot the only way to get rid of it is to quit and start again
Wish they would fix it, not as though they haven't had time

I’m having the same problem too, like if I’m driving on a certain route, I hear weird popping and crackling noises, I hope DTG fixes this issue.

I also hope they fixes it because on PC, they are very nice looped. But I think we are going to have this issue for a pretty long time...

I hope we won’t have this for a long time, I just want them to fix it.

Yep, I've experienced a few different types of audio glitches with TSW2 on XBOX One X and now XBOX Series X. All seem to occur regardless of which route I'm on, and which locomotive I'm driving, although NTP is maybe worse affected than some. Glitches include:
    - looping engine sounds
    - occasional loud bursts of static
    - 'gaps' in ambient and engine sounds during prolonged use of external views
The engine looping effects can generally be stopped by switching to another view and then back again.
These audio issues aren't show-stoppers, but they do make the experience less immersive.

Yes it's very disappointing. And a massive downgradeer
