I purchased TS first with the 2020 edition, I see now that it's TS2021, which I know is how they do a yearly cycle, my question is that I see they market 2021 with three included routes, does that apply only to a new purchase as I don't have the three routes in my game, nor are they listed in the downloadable content tab in the steam client ?
Yes, you'd need to purchase it to get those routes. The upgrade to TS2021 that's free each year only includes the core game. Sometimes it still worth buying it though. I bought 2021 deluxe version because it allowed me to get Fife Circle line, the class 68 and WCML South for less than I'd have paid individually.
If you want to build up an international collection you might look around for Steam keys for older editions of TS being sold on other sites. You should expect change from £10 but prices and availability vary so no recommendations- you have to Google. They'd install through Steam, obviously, with the routes dropping in to your collection as if you had bought them separately. TS2018 included North Wales Coastal currently unavailable any other way. TS2017 had four routes including the original South Wales Coastal.
Not sure but judging by the fact that DTG are doing March Madness videos this weekend, the sale may be then.
Yep, I have done this and aquired a few routes that way, I think I purchased 3 versions of the game, but I'm unable to find any more versions, I guess it's to late for those.. Another question: I was looking through the Steam shop and noticed the Montana Hi-Line, it says in the description it's available to everyone but the branding is removed outside the U.S, I'm european but still can't purchase an unbranded version, has the route been pulled outside the U.S completely ? Never mind, I found the unbranded version when doing a specific search !
If you have got the later one, what happens to it if you buy TS2017? Do you get two SWCs, or one overwrites the other?
Good question. Like Welsh Marches the new SWC is identified as a separate route in its own right so I'd expect to end up with both but that's just my considered opinion. More questions: Was the new SWC (which covers Bristol-Swansea) given as an update to owners of both SWC Bristol-Swansea and the shorter SWC Bristol-Cardiff which came with TS2017? If so would someone who bought TS2017 get the new SWC as an update?
I think I got TS2017 heavily reduced among other things in a recent sale for routes, but I don't think I got another SWC.
Rule of thumb if the GUID (Globally Unique Identifier) is the same then it will be overwritten, if the GUID number is different then the route will be installed separately. This is an example of a GUID number: 00000068-a000-0000-0000-000000002016 South Wales Coastal: Bristol - Swansea (Unbranded Version) ((Known As "South Wales Main Line") in game) [DTG] UK
In that case, can someone who has the branded route post the number, or check if they are different? Is the only difference the branding of trains? Which trains were branded in the original version, and I’ll see if they are in my library tomorrow.
I have both versions of Bristol-Swansea with identical scenarios plus a few I guess come from Bristol-Cardiff.
I have the original Cardiff-Bristol route that came with 2017 and the number is 00000064-000-000-000-000000002016
These are the 5 I have installed: 00000064-0000-0000-0000-000000002016 South Wales Coastal [DTG] UK [No Longer Available] 00000068-0000-0000-0000-000000002016 South Wales Coastal: Bristol - Swansea Route [DTG] UK [No Longer Available] 00000068-a000-0000-0000-000000002016 South Wales Coastal: Bristol - Swansea (Unbranded Version) ((Known As "South Wales Main Line") in game) [DTG] UK 00000068-c000-0000-0000-000000002016 South Wales Coastal & Welsh Marches Line [WorkShop] UK 00000068-d000-0000-0000-000000002016 [UB] South Wales + Welsh Marches Line - Shrewsbury to Bristol + Swansea 2016 [WorkShop] UK pH
That's what I read to, most sales start at 6 p.m, if only time could pass by faster, I've been awake since 4 a.m waiting
Just to confirm, I have two South Wales routes - the new one, and the one bought with TS2017 appears in my list too.
