Having found a couple of images online of the two dials it appears that the dial lighting as done by DTG is correct..... The needles obviously are being fixed. The first image shows the dials lit from the outer edge and the second one shows the actual LEDs around the edge of the right hand dial which match up very closely to where DTG have put the LEDs.
I haven’t noticed any improvements with the tunnel lighting. Issues: - Weird sudden blue lighting on the approach to tunnel entrances - Daylight in the cab inside tunnels. Sometimes extremely bright - Some tunnels don’t cast light from the headlights and other light sources
Asobo: "We just accurately modeled and textured the INTERIOR of a tiny rural airport terminal in a flight simulator that almost no one will ever see or know about as part of a free update" DTG: "Tunelz R Hard"
There is one part in tunnel 1 where the cab lights up in a weird white light rather than the blue it was before, the other tunnels do look better though.
If I dont type this now I will forget... where are we with the tunnel fixes for SEHS? I haven't heard anything recently...
I can’t vouch for the HS1 section as I don’t drive it but as far as I’m aware, all the tunnels on the Kent side have been fixed. Although the way the baked lighting has been done on the entrance/exit of tunnels is pretty sloppy. You get a strange blue light in that area as the light transitions.
Funny enough, that's exactly where the line gets drawn londonmidland! East of Ebbsfleet, the tunnels are 'fixed' and behave as designed, however, London Tunnels 1, 2, and 3 still have that improper shading bug. I cannot recall there being a timeline given as to when these too will eventually be patched, so it's anyone's best guess.
DTG also needs to improve the headlights and ditch lights on all locomotives. They look terrible compared to TS2021 with SS enhancements.
The train lighting in certain trains go farther in reality then what the game simulates so that could use an improvement
Technically the fault wouldn't lie on DTG, moreso that it was a weird quirk with the Unreal Engine. Matt gives a fantastic technical explanation here, between 19:00 - 20:45 However with that being said, I'm not sure what's the reason as to why some tunnels have been 'fixed' while others are not. The difference is quite undesirable, frankly.
I don’t claim to be an expert, but if it were a UE4 issue then is it not unreasonable to expect that we would have seen this phenomenon across all TSW routes? That, of course, isn’t the case and this particular issue has only become apparent since the release of TGV. There are 3 issues I’m seeing: 1) Weird lighting effects discussed here. Light cabs in dark tunnels, illuminated track, bright white lights (similar to tunnel exit) in the middle distance. On SEHS particularly there are strange elongated blue rectangles along the tunnel walls. 2) Weather not being visible at the tunnel exit until you leave the tunnel itself. Example - set full cloud and rain and as you approach a tunnel exit you can see clear skies. As you exit the tunnel suddenly the ‘weather’ re-appears. 3) Fog gradually disappearing as you enter the tunnel These issues were not apparent on older DLC (except the fog in certain circumstance) There are plenty of tunnels on the German routes and SPG and once ‘baked’ lighting issues had been fixed they worked as expected. Remember, also, that you used to be able to use the external camera in the tunnels too. I fear that we’ve had our fill of SHES fixes now, as we’re rapidly moving on to the ‘next thing’, as is the TSW way. I don’t expect to see a fix for this now until, perhaps, this passes through the preserved collection team. It may never happen. There is something fundamentally wrong with the lighting in Train Sim World. I sincerely hope that this forthcoming ‘core update’ sees them change direction entirely and fix this problem once and for all. To have another major update / engine upgrade and not address and sort this issue would be extremely disappointing.
Yeh Bakerloo line was mostly tunnels and they were dark so it's not a engine issue in my opinion. The lighting in this game unfortunately is very piss poor and it's not been massively improved for a long time so I hope when tsw gets another core update they will finally fix the lighting as that's one of the many criticisms of this sim
